EdB - Do we find in Scripture that once a person is saved they will not sin again? Or do we find that the saved continue to struggle with the flesh to include sometimes succumbing?
42 | will suiside send you to hell | Bible general Archive 4 | jlhetrick | 226159
Beja - your response is much appreciated and well considered. The point of my response to EdB was to encourage a more thorough explanation of his position. With that said, let me make you aware that there is a very real medical problem that occurs in the brain chemistry of some that causes them to actually reach a point that would fit into the definition that Charles Hodge, for example, meant by insanity. As a mental health professional I land far outside of the culture and philosophies that most mental health professionals comfortably exist. For example, I truly believe that much of what we label and diagnose today as mental disorders would be better explained by demonic influences and even possession as well as disorders in mood directly related to sin and guilt. I’m sure some would love to revoke my license to practice based on that statement. At the same time though, I acknowledge the very real and measurable chemical imbalances that some experience causing them dysfunction of mood, thought and behavior. I have worked with enough patients (including confessing Christians) that struggle with mental illness as well as ongoing sin. Sometimes it’s a first point of focus to work with them to identify the difference. I stand by my position and belief that there is only one unpardonable sin and suicide is not it. It would be a mistake for any Christian to start ranking individual sins in any order not supported by Scripture, especially were we to qualify that sin as a “disqualifier”. Furthermore, each of us will die (or be raptured) having yielded to God and growing in His sanctification in differing degrees. I am convinced, however, that any sin known to man is a potential sin to be committed by any Christian except for the one unpardonable sin. To believe otherwise, I believe, would be to disagree with Scripture and leave us unnecessarily vulnerable.

44 | What does it mean to be "in Christ"? | Bible general Archive 4 | jlhetrick | 237162
Yes sir, I agree. This is one of the most discussed topics I believe. And simple too when held up to the penetrating light of the whole of Scripture. Yet so many have misunderstood, misinterpreted, and even questioned their faith because they don't understand what it truly means to be dead to sin.

Yes sir, it's exciting. And it helps to know that this isn't figurative language, it is literal.

47 | What are the names of daughters of israe | Bible general Archive 4 | jlhetrick | 238194
I believe your answer, EdB is referring to something different from the "daughters of Israel" (plural) that Carl might be asking about. Dinah was the only daughter born to Jacob (who God renamed Israel (Genesis 32:28). If Carl63 cold be more specific with his question we might better respond. I believe he is referring to passages such as Deut 23:17, Judg. 11:40, 2 Sam. 1:24, etc... in which case Doc has already answered appropriately. Is Doc's answer what you were looking for Carl? |

Hi Doc, You mentioned above that this forum is for bible study. You like to point that out to others. Are the following post that you and others are posting in this thread serious bible study? I had been lead to believe that numerology is a false teaching. Just asking. Jeff |

Hi Searcher56, Yes I know this. But thanks for responding. My statement regarding numerology was a statement rather than a question. The point of my post was to address the inconsitency with the rules and expectations on the forum. I didn't expect a honest and humble response from the one I addressed. But the frequent rebuking and/or redirecting others who might not appear to be asking a question to his liking or criteria, so obviously contradicted in the same thread, required attention. Jeff |

Hi Doc, I thought so. The difficult questions are, well, difficult. But we will have to just be satisfied to let the response speak for itself. Jeff |

Hi Brad, hope your doing well. Hey, what is your reference to Keith Moore and the WOF regarding the webpage pointed to by Mark? I checked out the page and didn't find any reference to Keith More (though admittedly I didn't get too deep into it). I ask because I realized after going to the site that I already had it bookmarked and use it from time to time. I am very familiar with all but two or three of those featured on the site. I am confident in the teaching of many of them and know nothing as of yet that is negative or questionable about the others. can you please give additional information regarding your post and reference to keith Moore. Thanks, Jeff |

Hello again Brad, I assure you I'm not playing games with you. I went back to the site (which I have visited many times) and find nothing regarding Keith Moore or "Family Life Church". Are we talking about the same site? This is the site I am visiting and that I copied and pasted from Kalos' post. www.oneplace.com/ Again, I find nothing regarding Keith Moore and this included doing a "search" of the site. The only Moore I found was Beth More. Concerning a Doctrinal Statement, I agree that the site I am referring to doesn't seem to have one. This is definately a significant oversight. I have been following several of the featured ministers on the site for years and have taken the time to review their statements from their individual web pages. All christians should do this before becoming involved with another's teachings. If we are still referring to the same webpage, Please give me a different instruction on how to navigate to the Kieth Moore stuff. I'm not seeing a "blue tab bar" I see a green one. There is a links colum on the left side of the page that is shaded in blue, however, it also does not have the links you refer to. Thanks, Jeff |

Thanks Hank, I think there has been some misunderstanding and failure to follow the thread appropriately on my part. My post to Brad originally had to do with my not finding anything regarding Kieth Moore on the webpage he had voiced discontent with. However, I now see that he was responding to Markisredeemed, and that post (by Mark) has been deleted. I had believed that he was responding to a webpage cited by Kalos. So, of course, we were in fact referring to two different websites. I hope I am back on track now. In any case, I was only asking for further information because I was concerned that a site I have and do use www.oneplace.com may have some false teachers included. Regarding Keith Moore, I have no idea who he is and since he is not on the "oneplace.com" website, it matters not. I am familiar with some of the others including Hagin and Copeland. I once had to leave a church that I had attended with my family for many years because K. Copeland was added to the Board. It was a horrible time for us as our first Sunday without a home church happened to be Easter Sunday. Anyway, I am clear now that I know I was referring to a different website all along. Hope this clears things up. Jeff |

Thanks Brad, I had discovered that since my last post. The confusion was on my part not yours. I wasn't paying attention to the thread as I should have been. I must admit that there was a hint of panic in me when I was under the impression that the oneplace.com site might have been infiltrated. Thanks for your patience, Jeff |

58 | god shouldn't send people to hell. | Bible general Archive 3 | jlhetrick | 171964
Dear brother Ocelot, It is not important that your belief on this issue is "in the vast minority". What matters is that your "belief" is in conflict with God, and His word. Your entire post here is dissapointing. Please refer back to Muzka's post. This person is saying very bluntly that he/she plans to "argue" with God when he/she dies. What an unfortunate event that you would reply with anything supporting to such a statement. Furthermore, you point Muzka to a website to "help explain" why you "believe this". Dear sir, lets let the Scriptures speak on the issue. If you want to point someone to a place where they can learn some "amazing facts" please point them to scripture. And if someone is bold enough to want to "argue with God", better to stay far from such a person and their "feelings" about Hell. I publically call on you to repent of this behavior. With sincerety, Jeff |

59 | god shouldn't send people to hell. | Bible general Archive 3 | jlhetrick | 172026
Dear Ocelot, Thanks for responding back. You have helped me to understand the point of your previous post, thanks. I do appreciate that there are some who have a different view of the issue of Hell and eternity. I believe that we both agree that different views, while being respectfully debated, in the end, are irrelevant. The truth is the truth and my belief one way and yours another does nothing to change that. I am confident that you will agree with that statement and will leave it at that. My response, however, was not meant to focus on our obvious differences in what we believe the Bible teaches about the eternal state of unbelievers. My response was meant to be focused on the way you handled Muzka’s apparent outrage. I believe that Muzka clearly needed redirection, not support and encouragement to continue on course. We may disagree here as well. Muzka’s post did not reflect that he/she did not believe the Bible teaches that believers will spend eternity in torment. Just the opposite. It reflected that he/she believes that the unsaved will spend eternity in Hell, being “tortured”. He/she expressed outrage and offered the opinion of “80 percent of the entire pop” that “torture is WRONG” (emphasis added) as the legitimacy for wanting to “argue with God over the issue”. Furthermore, Muzka intends to do so. Muzka went on to say “I just don't feel that sending people to hell for whatever reason gets them there is just too much of a punishment.” I was surprised that you seemed to have missed this or ignore it, which ever was true. For the sake of unnecessary argument, take the issue of eternity and the unsaved out of the picture and consider. Muzka’s entire position and entire approach is so far off the mark that redirection of some sort is unmistakably necessary. Others, particularly Doc, offered that redirection so I did not. Muzka’s reliance on “feelings” (including the majority vote) falls far short of any understanding of the sovereignty of God, the justice of God, and the issue of man and sin. Would you agree that beginning to understand these issues are of greater importance than that of what we believe to be the eternal state of the lost? Perhaps a better question (as Doc pointed out); can one even begin to make sense of the eternal judgment of the unsaved before having some knowledge of the character of God? To his/her credit, Muzka did seem to ask honestly if this was a wrong way to feel. The answer is, absolutely. It is not necessarily wrong to question things from the perspective that one doesn’t understand it. But to apparently understand it, and disagree with it, and want to present his/her argument in opposition to a Holy, Sovereign, Righteous God, is in every way-shape-and form wrong. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to further express my thoughts on this. Your brother, Jeff |

Dear Ocelot, I can appreciate that there are points that contribute more to division than to profitable study. I agree that those things are not worth the debate. I've still got Friday to go and then I'll be done with my week too. Hope you have a great weekend as well. Jeff |
