42 | Jehovah's Witness Question | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 124619
Hi, Dadda! Hank spoke the truth! Though since the last decade or so they have been claiming to be "Christians," it is much like the Mormons who introduce themselves as Bible reading Christians but soon side step the Bible to offer their version of doctrine (book of Mormons). Your coworker (if in the cult for a few years) has had extensive indoctrination in: disbelieving the Holy Trinity, the Divinity of Jesus and the Holy Spirit as part of God. She has acquired a tunnel-vision to read and understand only what "they" consider to be the truth. In as much as you attempt to show, through the Bible, the Truth (Jesus the only Name given by which we are all saved) she will attempt to reject every word as wrong interpretation. Even when you offer a simple passage as "I and the Father are One", since they do not believe in the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:7-15), they can not understand that which is of the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:6-16), they can only think of human intelligence and symbolism. Pray so that the Holy Spirit give you strength and wisdom to stay in the Truth: Jesus is God! God Bless! Angel |

43 | do i have to worship loudly? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 124922
Hi, rjcbp! There are those who persist that we cannot worship God with song or that we cannot play musical instruments during songs, there are still those who claim that Jesus forbade praying in group/public... if we search deep enough or, perhaps more to the point, if we search superficially enough we will find anything we want to see in Scriptures. During the intense persecution of the Apostles, did the Church worship loudly enough to give away their hiding places? If several of the Apostles or disciples gathered a few feet away from perilous situations (near areas frequented by Jews or near synagogues, or in the neighborhoods of the Masters of the Laws, Sadducees, Pharisees and their respcetive falimies and acquaintances) would God reject their worship for being several decibels bellow par? Would it be required that the mute, blind, and deaf, among the believers, be more physically engaging than the rest of the worshippers to compensate for any lack of coordination or volume? And, finally, when we text praises and glories, and when we preach and pray throughout the internet, must we vocalize as we type so that God may hear our prayers, praises, glories, teachings... I'll refer you to 1 Corinthians 12:4-11--it is the Holy Spirit who gives to each of us according to His Will... and 1 Corinthians 12:12-31--the Holy Spirit did not employ a cookie cutter when constructing the Body of Christ! When the Lord calls you to jump or clap or dance or shout that is precisely the moment when you will worship according to His call. One final, final point--God Almighty is ancient, but He is not lacking in skills and abilities: He is not going deaf! So... shout for joy, even if it is only in your heart, or be loud in silent worship for the Temple of God is you! God Bless! Angel |

44 | Purity in concerns with being raped | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 124994
Hi, Patts! The closest Biblical passage that I have found is as follows: But if the man ran into the betrothed girl in the open country and slept with her, having taken her by force, her ravisher alone must die; you must do nothing to the girl, she has not committed a capital offence. The case is like that of a man who attacks and kills his fellow: since he came across her in the open country, the betrothed girl may have called out without anyone's coming to her rescue. (Deuteronomy 22:25-27) This passage clearly places the blame on the person who assaults the victim. The scene, though not relative to our present society (no fear of God and lack of love and compassion), depicts a girl/woman overpowered and assaulted against her will and with no one to protect her. Such a person will never be held accountable, by God, for the actions perpetrated by her attacker. Remember, as long as you do not defile yourself, you are pure in God's eyes! Bring all your concerns and pain to Jesus; He has the power to heal and make you whole: Jesus said: I am the resurrection. Anyone who believes in me, even though that person dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die... (John 11:25-26) In Jesus you are Whole and Complete! God Bless! Angel |

45 | is jesus god | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 125731
Hi, Paz63! Part 1 of 2 Yes, Jesus is God! I am copying a previously posted study on Jesus' Divinity: Alpha and Omega: Revelation 1:8 ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, who is, who was and who is to come, the Almighty. This verse is quite specific: our Lord, God Almighty, is the Alpha and the Omega! There is no confusion here! Yahweh is the Alpha and the Omega! These two words signify the beginning (alpha--first letter of the Greek alphabet) and the end (omega--the last letter). Though emphasized in Revelation, this is by no means a new idea: Isaiah 41:4 Who has acted thus, who has done this? He who calls each generation from the beginning: I, Yahweh, who am the first and till the last I shall still be there.’ Isaiah 44:6 Thus says Yahweh, Israel’s king, Yahweh Sabaoth, his redeemer: I am the first and I am the last; there is no God except me. So it is established: Yahweh God is the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega. If this would be all that the Bible has to say about the Alpha and the Omega this would be a very short Bible study, indeed… But there is more to it, isn’t there? When reading Revelation 1:8 all by itself there should be no question at all to our views of beginning and end… but just one verse before Revelation 1:8 we find an introduction to one who is to come: Revelation 1:7 Look, he is coming on the clouds; everyone will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the races of the earth will mourn over him. Indeed this shall be so. Amen. As clear as 1:8 is, 1:7 cannot be mistaken as speaking of anyone other than the Christ--actually the Lamb of God! This announcement about the pierced one who all the races of the world will see coming on the clouds precedes the revelation that God is the Alpha and the Omega! How can we separate the two? It is like saying that, for some strange reason, God decided to reveal something that has no bearings on anything else! Now, in Revelation 22:12-13 Jesus announces that He is coming soon and that He is the Alpha and the Omega: Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me, to repay everyone as their deeds deserve. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Some would quickly point out that we can’t really tell that it is Jesus talking or that what is said is being said about Jesus… I see two problems with that: 1. Yahweh did not promise to come to the gentiles (the non-Jewish world), He promised to come to the people of Israel (He did as Jesus Christ!: John 1:1-18). 2. Revelation 22:6 tells us that Jesus is speaking to John (at times directly, at other times through his angel): Revelation 22:6 I, Jesus, have sent my angel to attest these things to you for the sake of the churches. I am the spring from the root of David and the bright star of the morning. |

46 | is jesus god | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 125732
Part 2 of 2 There is no mistaking that Jesus is the shoot or root of David, the One who was, who was pierced, and is to come (both to the Jews and gentiles) and the one who is speaking! But let‘s look at Revelation 1:12-18 I turned round to see who was speaking to me, and when I turned I saw seven golden lamp-stands [13] and, in the middle of them, one like a Son of man, dressed in a long robe tied at the waist with a belt of gold. [14] His head and his hair were white with the whiteness of wool, like snow, his eyes like a burning flame, [15] his feet like burnished bronze when it has been refined in a furnace, and his voice like the sound of the ocean. [16] In his right hand he was holding seven stars, out of his mouth came a sharp sword, double-edged, and his face was like the sun shining with all its force. [17] When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead, but he laid his right hand on me and said, ‘Do not be afraid; it is I, the First and the Last; I am the Living One, [18] I was dead and look--I am alive for ever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and of Hades. In 1:13 John is describing someone he sees and he uses one of Jesus’ self-proclaimed titles, Son of man, to offer a more complete description--the Father was never identified with this title or the idea of this title. But even if we refused to see that John is speaking of the Son not the Father, verse 1:17 clearly cannot be construed as the speaker being Yahweh, God the Father! So, Jesus, the one that was dead, who is alive for ever, the Living One (see Deuteronomy 5:26; Joshua 3:10; 1 Samuel 17:26, 36; 2 Kings 19:4, 16; Psalms 42:2; 84:2; Isaiah 37:4, 17; Jeremiah 10:10; 23:36; Daniel 6:20 and Hosea 1:10--they all refer to the Living God) is the First and the Last: the Alpha and Omega. Some groups confuse the term Jesus applied to Himself as the First and the Last as meaning that Jesus is the first created--if this were true… then logic dictates that He is also the last created… and if He is the first and last created then we are living quite an error since nothing was created before Him and nothing is created after Him. Hence Creation ceased once Jesus was created! Clearly, the Bible does not teach such nonsense! Jesus is the First and Last: the Alpha and the Omega; not in some misconstrued first created, but as Yahweh’s words through the prophet: Isaiah 43:10-11 …No god was formed before me, nor will be after me. I, I am Yahweh, and there is no other Saviour but me. Since there is only One God, the One Savior, Jesus, our Lord and Savior, can say: “I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30) “Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? What I say to you I do not speak of my own accord: it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his works. You must believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me… (John 14:10-11 ) LIVING IN ME!… we can go to science and philosophy and we will never discover God! We can only discover God through Faith; we must humble ourselves to the Holy Spirit, begging Him for enlightenment; only He can lead us to the Truth (John 14:16-17; 15:26; 16:13): Jesus is God: Thomas replied, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Jesus said to him: You believe because you can see me. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe. (John 20:28-29) I’ll leave you with this final passage: …The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city; his servants will worship him, (Revelation 22:3) How can we separate God from the Lamb? Why is the God of Israel sharing His glory with Jesus? Whose servants will worship whom? Can our finite understanding define God’s infinite being? God Bless! Angel |

47 | Why ask Why? Why ask Where? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 126140
Hi, kalos! You are right! Having opinions are great, specially if it we can rely on where does it say that... not to listen but to be proven by text that is an exact type of what we seek to listen. Just for example: The Jehovah Witnesses ask: where in the Bible does it say that God is a triune God? Where in the Bible does is it mention the word Trinity? Of couse by such standards it is impossible to use Scripture--I mean unless we are prepare to introduce a new "version" that would insert such titles/words in it. I suggest to you that they refuse to read Scripture and listen--not to the letter of the text, since this is exactly what confused the Masters of the Law, the Sadducees and Pharisees--but to the Holy Spirit who is the only One who can reveal to us the Truth! God Bless! Angel |

50 | Allegorical? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 126721
Hi, Stultis! The most remarkable part of Creation happened on the sixth day: God breath into a clay figure the breath of life (Spirit)... the power of God is unmeasurable but the revelations made to man are limited to man's development (both physical and spiritual)... Genesis does not specify a 24-hour day period, as Norm pointed out. A division of Creation was term "day"--yet this is not for God's need to understand or catalog His Creation; rather this is to allow our finite being to assimilate the order of Creation. God Bless! 51 | How do you explain? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 126730
Hi, Stultis! I think that the problem you are having is that you seek to understand the Scripture in human terms... This happens very frequently when we indulge in enlightenment "quests." But we must employ the Holy Spirit as our Guide and Teacher; if we remove God's direction we are working on bare fumes (our finite understanding of both the physcial and spiritual realms). Here's what Jesus said about the Father: His answer to them was, 'My Father still goes on working, and I am at work too. (John 5:17) Would you say that Jesus was confused sinse Scripture tells us that God rested after Creation? I love SciFi--I find many Biblical teachings in the better samples of this genre... one of my favorite films is "Dune." There's an episode where creatures who are able to bend time and space come to correct one of their minion's actions and they speak of plans within plans... True, Yahweh rested on the day after Creation... but there are plans within plans in God's Creation... this is why Paul tells us that: We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. (Romans 8:22) And the new rest that we are asked to ready ourselves for is a spiritual rest: a new Creation in Christ. Since both the Creator and the creature are in constant growth (the creature searching out its Creator and its Creator guiding the creature in loving patience) Creation is constant (John 5:17). So to attempt to limit Creation to a 6-24-hour period is quite a simplistic view of God. You seek precision? Study nature: before we discovered the sciences of mathematics, physics, chemestry... God had rested from Creation employing his Divine Wisdom and Knowledge into His Design... I mean, have you studied crystals, sea shells, feathers, snowflakes? Nature is not only filled with aesthetic beauty, but there's a fantastic mathematical symphony even in the most basic of forms! This was no accident! God's Wisdom made it so for our gratification and Salvation: For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. (Romans 1:20) Nature can lead us to God, even when we lack spritual awareness... It is not so with Scripture! We cannot simply use science to disect the Word and expect to discover God's mysteries: but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. (1 Corinthians 2:10-12--see also 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20; 3:16) True, we must search the Scripture; but if we indulge our finite limitations we will reap finite understanding. God Bless! Angel |

52 | Born Again Christians - Why so weird? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 126756
Hi, henry1000! I think that part of it is due to extremism (those who take a few passages from the Bible and run to the max--ie: all Christians must demonstrate their spirituality by speaking in languages); the other part is that Christians are not free elements that can couple with whatever the world offers as morality or spirituality (Christians who are obedient to Christ must adhere to Christ's Command: live in the Light!). When people who call themselves Christians transgress against God by coforming to the world (and not just that but teaching that the Scripture must adapt to the world's definitions of love, freedom, spirituality, justice...), they are giving the world a false sense of security and a license to choose and reject God's Word as they see fit. All of this, seen as a unit, confuses not only the world but those who are seeking God as well! God Bless! Angel |

54 | Where is God? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 127073
Hi, Schoolman! Elijah was facing a crucial moment in his spiritual life when he sought the Lord for answers… The Lord sent him to a particular meeting place and this is how the meeting transpired: Then he was told, ’Go out and stand o the mountain before Yahweh.’ For at that moment Yahweh was going by. A mighty hurricane split the mountains and shattered the rocks before Yahweh, after the hurricane, an earthquake. But after the earthquake, fire. But Yahweh was not in the fire. And after the fire, a light murmuring sound. And when Elijah heard this, he covered his face with his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. The voice came to him, which said, ‘What are you doing here, Elijah? (1 Kings 19:11-13) I use this passage as a reminder that God does not only reveals Himself through wondrous awe-inspiring acts… God is able to reveal Himself in very subtle and nonchalant ways! In 1 Kings 19:11-13, we find a clear demonstration of where God is! He was not found in the majestic and overpowering signs (mighty hurricane, a thundering earthquake, devastating fire)… Elijah heard a whisper, a murmur, in the air and he knew that Yahweh had come! Many times that is the way we find God in our personal lives… we seek the extraordinary, God comes to us in the smile of a passerby; we seek the grandiose and imposing, God comes to us in the form of a needy person who we can assist with money, food, a sympathetic shoulder/ear or simply sharing Scripture! Remember, God is not found in a specific place or formula (John 4:23-24); indeed, God is in each and every single believer (John 14:16-17; Romans 10:8-13). It is also interesting to see Faith from Christ’s perspective (John 20:29); He is patient but adamant: Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe! Please read, reread if you are familiar with it, Hebrews 11. This whole chapter is about Faith! It demonstrates the trajectory that we are called to follow--those who saw (experienced more directly) God do not have an advantage over those who experience God through Faith: These all won acknowledgement through their faith, but they did not received what was promised, since God had made provision for us to have something better, and they were not to reach perfection except with us. (Hebrews 11:39-40) The Jews wanted signs and the Greeks thought to discover God through knowledge (worldly wisdom)… but to both was offered Christ, Crucified: Power and Wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:21-24). Humble yourself to God that He may lift you up! (James 4:10) God Bless! Angel |

55 | why do we hurt jesus? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 127814
Hi heavenbound! There's no such Scripture passage... does that mean that no matter what we do we do not hurt God by our actions? Consider the following Scripture passages: Matthew 23:37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. John 11 33When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34"Where have you laid him?" he asked. "Come and see, Lord," they replied. 35Jesus wept. 36Then the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" Ephesians 4 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. If we combine these three Scriptural passages we are able to determine that: a) God's Love for us knows no bound--as He is constantly seeking to keep us safe in Him. b) The Word was made flesh and experience the same feelings that we do! God is not a stranger to sadness nor sorrow: Jesus wept not for Lazarus but for humanity since He knew that raising Lazarus from the dead would not compel us to repent and stay obedient to God. c) We are able to, whether consciously or unconsciously, grieve (hurt, upset, sadden, afflict...) the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of God! There are two signs that demonstrate how intricate God's relationship with us truly is: Matthew 10:30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Matthew 12:36 But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. It is not reasonable to believe that since God is concerned with every aspect of our existence, our rebelliousness can only cause Him hurt? Clearly, Jesus did not weep for Lazarus--He had no intention of letting him stay dead! Jesus wept because He was drawn into the pain of Lazarus' sisters and He knew (as He revealed in another passage) that even if someone from the dead were to rise, humanity would still experience doubt and disbelief! Jesus never wept for Himself (John 16:32)... He wept for the Israel of the flesh (Abraham's blood offspring) and for the Israel of the Spirit (John 1:12-13). Does Scripture state, ad verbum, that if we turn Jesus away it will hurt Him? No! I suggest to you this: Since there's no Scripture that states that God is devoid of feelings and that He is indifferent to human rejection, could we not reason that our rejection of Him causes Him pain, grief, affliction? God Bless! Angel |

56 | Should we continue to help addicted son? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 127915
Hi, daybyday! Tim Moran posts have satisfied your query... I simply wanted to add that enabling a person does not mean serving that person in Christ: ie: if I were your son, bent on ripping off cars, would you give me a list of friends that would purchase the vehicles from me (you would be helping those who could not afford the sticker price and assist me in getting my own money)? You would certainly not! But if I were to hit bottom and came to enough sence to seek professional help, would you not assit me with money (program fees), moral support and prayers? You would! And you would be fulfilling all of your Christian obligations! Reading the Gospels we will find Jesus forgiving sinners (curing both physical and spiritual ailments), but never enabling them! God Bless! Angel |

57 | could i have seen judjement in the futur | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 128011
Hi! True, there are Scripture passages that speak on dreams and visions... yet these dreams and visions are given by God and only through the Holy Spirit can they obtain clarity. The advise given by Doc and Searcher are on the money... you must seek the Lord in the Bible and ask for counsel from your local Church (depending on your age you should bring an adult with you, Mom preferably). Be assured that you are not the only person having such dream/visions... what I have learned is that God calls us in a myriad of ways to serve Him within our Gifts... but we must get to know the Lord on a one-to-one basis... just as any other skill, our spirituality must be harnessed: study the Word on a daily basis; pray constantly and seek to please the Lord in all that you do. "just before i went back their was some big screen tv's i never noticed them before that said thats it u may not go back what is done is done" I want to address this particular portion of your dream: In Isaiah 1:18-20 Yahweh calls us to unite with Him, to turn back (repent) from our unrighteousness and obey and serve Him... In Ezekiel 18:30-32 Yahweh makes it profoundly clear that He cherishes us and that He wants not our death but our Salvation... John 3:16-17 tells us that God sent Jesus to the world not to condemn the world but that, through Faith in Jesus, we may have eternal life in God! Satan will use any sort of deception to entrap us… he is very fond of twisting the truth in order to separate us from God. Jesus called him the father of lies… so do not listen to anyone or anything that tells you that God does not want you! Our Father is a merciful and Loving God who more than just meets us half way: and a hope which will not let us down, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given to us. When we were still helpless, at the appointed time, Christ died for the godless. You could hardly find anyone ready to die even for someone upright; thought it is just possible that, for a really good person, someone might undertake to die. So it is proof of God’s own love for us, that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:5-8) Jesus tells us that there is great joy in heaven when just one sinner repents and comes back to God! (Luke 15:7) So, be glad and do not worry; get closer to God and He will come closer to you! (James 4:7-10) God Bless! Angel |

Hi, mikec! I do not believe you are as confused as you think you are: a) You know that you need to get closer to God! b) You know you have to establish a direct line to Him through prayer! c) You know that the Bible is: all or none! d) You are seeking assistance in getting closer to God! James tells us (James 1:5) that we can ask God for wisdom and He will readily give it to us; he also tells us how we are to come to God: James 1:6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. We are to place our trust (Faith) in Jesus without seeking to understand all that is God... remember, he exalts the humble and He humbles the proud! Come to Jesus in simple prayer (it could be as simple as repeating Jesus' name over and over in humble worship or it could be through a few words expressing your gratitude, your fears, and your aspirations or it could be by using a prayer template--none should be of those with special formulas to bring you wealth or control over the Holy Spirit or some personal angel--that brings deeper understanding of your relationship to God); learn to trust Him and He will do the rest! 59 | How does God feel on smoking? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 128883
Hi, DarcyKosha34! It would be wonderful if all of life's questions would be answered in the Bible in the exact language that we wish to ask of God... But part of our dependence on God is that we have finite knowledge and finite understanding... so we must come to Scripture in a prayerful manner asking the Holy Spirit to enlighten our minds and spirits... Though there's no mention of certain things in the Bible, we must not jump to the conclusion that "it is not Biblical therefore we can opt to ignore or indulge in whatever we please... One of the Commandments is "do not kill!" If we look at the tobacco industry, we find that it has been killing people for decades and that, for decades, it circumvented any efforts to expose the truth about cigarettes harmful effects to human life from both active and passive smoke exposure. Once medical and technological advancement prolonged human lifespan, the devastation of cigarettes smoking (both in human terms and medical cost) broke through the barriers of lies and deceit... but since we are capitalists, the industry was not disbanded, rather they were allowed to post a disclaimer on their packages to warn the millions that are addicted to their poison that their product produces harmful health effects! What would be the difference between a Christian who willfully jumps from the Empire State Building in order to take his/her life in a short explosive instant and a Christian that poisons his/herself in a slow and methodical manner? None! Since the persons from both examples are breaking the Commandment not to kill! And not only that, but they run the risk of killing/hurting others by their actions! There is one Scripture that I truly want to share with you and all "smoking" Christians: 1 Corinthians 3:17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple. God Bless! Angel |

60 | doctrinal differences | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 128886
Hi, geof! I think that the best thing you can do is to do individual research on the various doctrines that you seek to study... since by nature we are biased, in forums that are multi-congregational (Christian) we would mostlikely find biased replies... I am currently conducting correspondence with an Eastern Orthodox Catholic in order to get a better understanding of the Eastern Church... perhaps searching out people in the diverse congregations that you seek to understand could better aide you in determining their specific rites and theologies. God Bless! Angel |
