761 | in Revelations."You should beat your chi | Rev 2:23 | JCrichton | 138023
Hi, Charlotte! Revelation does not speak on correction of children... There is a passage in Proverbs that speaks on duly correcting children or allowing them to become spoiled brats: He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him. (Proverbs 13:24) This, of course, does not give Christians license to beat their children! What you have described is a very dangerous situation... your daughter's condition can be explosive, unpredictable, and hazardous to your grandchildren... Aside from praying about it, I suggest that you contact your daughter's previous doctor, get at much information about her condition, if she continues to refuse treatment, and speak to her husband with the assistance of a third party and the information gathered from her doctor... perhaps you and your son-in-law could come to an agreement and even visit with your daughter's present "pastor" to make him aware of the particular situation in which your grandchildren are found... he may be intelligent enough to intervene on the children's behalf and convince your daughter to continue her medication... You may want to study and share with your daughter two passages that deal with the parents' responsibility and form of correction: Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:21. God Bless! Angel |

762 | Faith and Who I AM? | Rev 4:11 | JCrichton | 123352
Hi! As you probably noticed this thread has been restricted! I am not quite sure why since they did not post warnings or comments about their action... but I think it may have something to do with the lack of Biblical reference on your post... I am not into philosophy so I cannot give you a response to satisfy your queries... I can however refer you to Hebrews 11! Read the complete chapter. You will find Faith in action! Just so that we understand each other... in the Light there is no darkness!: This is what we have heard from him and are declaring to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 763 | what kind of gifts were sent | Rev 11:10 | JCrichton | 109298
Hi, star1! It is not important to discern what presents were exchanged [use today's life style to measure the presents that were sent: we attempt to out-do one another in an attempt to demonstrate that we are either better (more money) or more generous (center of attention) than the rest], what is truly important is to notice that they were EXTREMELY HAPPY TO SEE THE TWO MEN OF GOD SUFFERING AND FINALLY DEAD! (Revelation 11:6-9) God Bless! |

Hi, DeeMellas! In the 12th Chapter of Revelation verses 3-4 and 7-9, we find the battle between Satan and the Archangel Michael. Verses 13-18 describe the continued assault of the ancient serpent on Christ--through his disciples! God Bless! Angel |

765 | Angels in heaven and the Revolution | Rev 12:4 | JCrichton | 129587
Hi, nselke! Revelation 12:3-4, 7-9, 10-13 speak on the battle and the banishing of Satan and his angels: Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child the moment it was born. And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short." When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. It is notable that the Revelation 12 sets up this battle in what seems to be a chronological order of events... but we know that some of what is revealed on this chapter occurred eons ago (assault on the Throne, in Heaven), some occurred throughout history (assault on Israel: idolatry, rebellion against Yahweh...), some occured roughly 2000 years ago (assaul on Jesus as an infant and as a man) and finally the assault on the Church established by Jesus (early Church till today). Hi, Glenn! One other thing they forget... historically a nation or government that won a war/s would retain the land conquered/acquired during the military campaign; yet when the people of Israel were surrounded by the various Arab nations that warred against them and they obliterated the Arab militaries… it was, through UN intervention, Israel that was forced to cede the territories they conquered back to those who lost the war! No wonder Arabs hate Israelites: they attempted to exterminate them from the face of the earth and got their rear-ends kicked! God Bless! Angel |

767 | What did Jesus mean when he said this? | Rev 12:17 | JCrichton | 125979
Hi, josesantillan! Revelation 12 talks about the incarnation of the Word, the battle for the Divine Throne, Satan's defeat and consequent expulsion from Heaven. It talks about the ancient battle (Genesis 3:15) carried over to the temporal world where the dragon (Satan) attempts to destroy the child. Since he cannot defeat Jesus, Satan takes his battle to Jesus' brothers... When we search the Gospels we will find that Jesus came to fulfill all of the prophecies about Him--even the seemingly simplest where He's saying that He's thirstyso that a tiny, almost insignificant, prophecy could be fulfilled. Revelation 12:17 tells us that the dragon was furious because he could not get to Jesus so he went to take the fight to the woman's other offsprings--Jesus fulfills this prophecy by leaving His beloved disciple in His stead with His mother, and establishing that new relationship with his disciples. Your second question... As Catholics do the sign of the Cross, these words accompany the gesture: In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit... this is found in Matthew 28:19. This reference to the Cross is lived by Paul: I was resolved that the only knowledge I would have while I was with you was knowledge of Jesus, and him as the crucified Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:2) It is beautiful to think of the risen Christ... but it was on the Cross that He rescued us! It is His blood that cleanses us and grants us a new life! 769 | What consitutes a "righteous act?" | Rev 19:8 | JCrichton | 123988
Hi, Mommapbs! It seems that it would be impossible for us to do anything righteous on our own. Devoid of God, “there is no one righteous, not even one.” Does that contradict Scriptures? No! Devoid of God we opt to satisfy the lusts of the flesh! But God is merciful and has allowed our spirit to find Him so that we may choose Him and His Righteousness instead of satisfying the appetites of the flesh! Several times Jesus commended individuals for their Faith in God (the centurion, the criminal on the cross, Zacheus, the woman from Canaan, the leper from the Samaria and Galilee region…), were these people more righteous than the whole of Israel? Not according to Scriptures! But they were receptive to God’s Spirit--even those who were not of the Jewish clan, those who had not the oral or written Traditions, were receptive to God and obeyed His Will and did one righteous act: they Believed! Zacheus and the leper not only believed, but they visibly demonstrated their conviction and their gratitude (Zacheus had a change of heart: he promised the Lord that he would give half of his wealth to the poor and he would make restitutions, fourfold, to anyone he had wronged: Luke 19:1-9; and the leper, a Samaritan, who out of ten cleaned from leprosy was the only one to return to Jesus, glorified God for His Love and Mercy by prostrating himself at Jesus’ feet while praising God!: Luke 17:11-19). We are capable of righteousness but we do not always choose to heed the Holy Spirit: And now a lawyer stood up and, to test him, asked, ‘master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ He said to him, ‘What is written in the Law? What is your reading of it?’ He replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself.’ Jesus said to him, ’You have answered right, do this and life is yours.’ But the man was anxious to justify himself and said to Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbour?’ In answer Jesus said, ‘A man was once on his way down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of bandits; they stripped him, beat him and then made off, leaving him half dead. Now a priest happened to be traveling down the same road, but when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. In the same way a Levite who came to the place saw him, and passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan traveller who came on him was moved with compassion when he saw him. He went up to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. He then lifted him onto his own mount and took him to an inn and looked after him. Next day, he took out two denarii and handed them to the innkeeper and said, “Look after him, and on my way back I will make good any extra expense you have.” Which of these three, do you think, proved himself a neighbour to the man who fell into the bandits’ hands?’ He replied, ‘The one who showed pity towards him.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go and do the same yourself.’ (Luke 10:25-37) Since we are created in God’s image and likeness, the potential to be holy is there! The problem is being obedient and humble enough to God’s Will so that our potential can be realized (1 Peter 1:16 thru 2:16) God Bless! Angel |

770 | MARK OF THE BEAST? | Rev 20:4 | JCrichton | 108790
Hi, REX! I've been trying to find your post: 42 Did Jesus ever drink wine? Note Bible general REX Tue 01/6/04, 12:30pm You stated that your answer was no. You cited leaven as the main reason for your argument... Please rethink your response: The Bible states that Jesus did drink wine (it was part of the culture: drinking wine or water mixed with wine) in Luke 7:33-34 where Jesus defines the incredulousness of the Jews by comparing John the Baptist’s customs, whom they refused to believe because he was way different, and His own, Whom they deny! Though you are right about the leaven, I suggest to you that that would be limited to the bread since Jesus Himself, in Matthew 26:27-29, (Mark 14:23-25, Luke 22:17-18), attested to drinking of the vine. God Bless! |

771 | Who goes to heaven? | Rev 20:12 | JCrichton | 141630
Hi, Tan! There are many who want to remove Christ from the Christian equation... some who prescribe to the "all the roads lead to Heaven" philosophy… The Holy Scripture is very precise when it comes to matter of Salvation; it leaves no room for second-guessing or progressive interpretations: you must know, all of you, and the whole people of Israel, that it is by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, and God raised from the dead, by this name and by no other that this man stands before you cured. ‘This is the stone which you, the builders, rejected but which has become the cornerstone. Only in him is there salvation; for of all the names in the world given to men, this is the only one by which we can be saved.’ (Acts 4:10-12) Clearly, Salvation is not a matter of well-wishing... or of respecting popular beliefs... Salvation cannot occur in the absence of Jesus Christ!: Jesus said: I am the resurrection. Anyone who believes in me, even though that person dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die… (John 11:25) My children, I am writing this to prevent you from sinning; but if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the upright. He is the sacrifice to expiate our sins, and not only ours, but also those of the whole world. (1 John 2:1-2) Love consists in this: it is not we who loved God, but God loved us and sent his Son to expiate our sins. (1 John 4:10) Good works... They are necessary as they testify to our rebirth in the Holy Spirit! But acts of kindness (or seemingly, acts of kindness) alone can do nothing for us... Jesus Commands His disciples (all Believers) to not only love their relatives and friends (neighbors) but to also love their enemies--Matthew 5:43-48--(those who will see us as their intrinsic nemesis (John 15:18-19) due to our allegiance to Jesus) because we are Commanded to emulate our Heavenly Father; Jesus also clarifies that even the wicked are kind and courteous with their own, so we can surmise that good works onto themselves are as empty as the heart that wheels the intention: loving/serving selectively yields its own rewards; loving/serving others in God demonstrates our obedience and allegiance to Him! God Bless! Angel |

772 | Is it possible to sin in heaven? | Rev 21:27 | JCrichton | 118737
Hi, deadjerry! Changes a' coming!... Jesus told the Samaritan woman that the Kingdom of God is at hand! He told Israel that He did not come to abolish the Law but to bring it to fulfillment! In the Old Testament times till the Word's incarnation God had been patient with humanity: dealing with values that were purely economical (eye for an eye--physical reparation for transgressions). But the Lamb of God dissolved the old economy and its currency!: God is Spirit and those that worship must worship in Spirit and in Truth. (John 4:23-24--paraphrased) The zenith of the new economy is the Heavenly Jerusalem: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, comin down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride dressed for her husband. (Revelation 21:1-2) I could not see any temple in the city since the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb were themselves the temple, (Rev 21:22) Nothing unclean may come into it: no one who does what is loathsome or false, but only those who are listed in the Lamb's book of life. (Rev 21:27) Now, prior to the coming of the New Jerusalem both the devil and his minions (spiritual beings and humans) had been judged, sentenced and separated (Rev 20:7-10, 11-15) from the children of God (those whose names are found written in the book of the Lamb) who are the only ones allowed in the city (Rev 21:27 and 22:1-3). God Bless! Angel |

773 | Why do some sermons misrepresent truth? | Rev 22:18 | JCrichton | 145532
Hi, Gilderd! As erroneous as they are, too many "Christians" are taking way too many liberties with the Holy Scripture... Just recently, as I was channel surfing, I began to slow down when I noticed that the program contenct was Christian... but I almost got a whiplash as I promptly left the channel: the speaker was inducting others into a special familiarity that he has with God... he promised that God did not mind when we got mad at Him! I don't recall Jesus teaching us to be mad at God nor to disrespect Him... Yeah, Moses challenged Yahweh (most likely God wanted Moses to stand for the Hebrews)... yeah, Jacob fought Him (though not clearly evident, God challenged him to seak high things from Him)... yeah, Abraham tested His resolve (Abraham spoke for the people, never against God)... yeah, Jonah refused to carry out God's Command (he misundestood God's Mercy and was acting zelously in regards to the people's disrespect towards God)... as far as I can recall, every single incident where one of God's servants seem to challenge God, they were genuinely seeking to serve Him better... and every single intimacy (relationship or moment) was originated by God! Today, many intimate a deeper and more spiritual relationship with God than He has allowed to all of His servants, including any whom He has called "friend!" Don't simply get angry at these occurances... pray for each and everyone of them... that the Holy Spirit enlightens them and they humble themselves to God... pray also for those who, in ignorance, embrace all sorts of strange and anti-Christian doctrines because they seem new and "freeing!" God Bless! Angel |
