41 | Bride - Church or New Jerusalem? | Is 61:10 | skccab | 185872
Hi all I have so enjoyed reading everyone's questions, answers and comments. I'm gonna take the home page up on it's offer and ask a question. It's one that I stood firmly on before, back in the 70's but now I'm not so sure, so here goes. Why does everyone call the church the Bride of Christ, when in Rev. 21:2 John sees "the holy city, New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven, prepared AS a bride adorned for her husband"; then in v.9 the angel told John he would show him the bride, the Lamb's wife, in v. 10 John sees New Jerusalem again. The first instance New Jerusalem is "as" a bride, in v.10 it is New Jerusalem that the angel calls the bride, and goes on the describe the city. I was taught (way back in the 70's and 80's that we identify ourselves (that is, the church) as a chaste bride awaiting her husband, and I know the saints will inhabit New Jerusalem, but isn't that a literal city? I stood firm on this a long time ago, that the bride is New Jerusalem and not the church (for the Bible says that we are the body of Christ, and He is the Head of the church so how could the church be a bride which is female and Christ is quite obviously male?). I'm not trying to start a heated debate, really, I'm not. I actually am wavering here, in this area, because no one seems to think this way now. I'm just wondering why. cheri |

42 | Trouble with Pronouns | Is 63:11 | skccab | 212927
Shalom y'all, I've been reading Isaiah and am at 63:11. I use the NKJV which capitalizes all pronouns referring to God. All the previous verses have the 'he' capitalized, then verse 11 says "Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, "Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of His flock?..." My question: is the 'he' who remembered mistakenly left lowercase? It sounds like it is speaking of He, God? Any help? Thanking you in advance Cheri |

44 | Audio study of Prophets | Ezek 1:1 | skccab | 209640
Shalom y'all Does anyone know of an online site that has a very good audio study of the individual prophets? A site that allows you to download audio teachings? I can't seem to find teachings from the prophets. Especially Ezekiel and Zachariah. Thank you in advance :-) Cheri |

45 | Splitting of Mt. of Olives | Zechariah | skccab | 195143

46 | Researching a questionable verse | Matt 17:21 | skccab | 202275
Shalom y'all, If you hear that a verse was added by translators at a later date, how would I go about checking this out? Such as, is it true, if so, when was it added? I've checked the 2 bibles that I own that would likely have the addition, 1 does, 1 does not, and several on e-sword have it included, and several don't. I'm at a loss as to where to even begin to research this. Thanks for any help Cheri |

47 | clarification of John 1:27 | John 1:26 | skccab | 194374
Hi all, I have a question about John 1:19-27. V.19 states priests and Levites come from the Pharisees to ask some questions of John for them. Vs. 20-26 are self explanatory. But V.27 John states "...there is One that stands among you..." I have the e-sword program with every "free" Bible version it has available and every one of them pretty much uses those same words. The only one that is in any way different in its wording is the YLT and it comes off meaning the same thing. My question is this: How is verse 27 to be taken? That Yeshua is actually right there among them at that moment, that He is one of the levites or priests? Or that He is one of the Pharisees that sent the levites and priests? Or just that He is somewhere among you (meaning all the peoples in general) somewhere in some city within the region? Still learning :-) Cheri |

48 | Had Satan known.... | John 10:18 | skccab | 186109
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows where it states in NT something like this "if the devil had known, he would not have had crucified the Lord..." I can't find it, and I have a pretty large concordance. I've always thought there was such a verse, but now.....? Thanks for your help Blessings Cheri |

49 | Holy Spirit - indwelling / infilling | Acts 2:38 | skccab | 188245
Hi all, I checked the Search mechanism, but didn't really get the info I was looking for - so maybe it's time to bring up the subject again. What are anyone's views on the difference between the indwelling (at the time of receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior) and infilling (at the time of asking for it) of the Holy Ghost? All thoughts are welcome, please blessings cheri |

50 | Did Stephen see the Father? | Acts 7:55 | skccab | 195293
Shalom y'all I've had a question for awhile but haven't really known how to phrase it - not sure still that I can phrase it correctly - but here goes... To start, I understand the word used in Deut. 6:4 "echad" is a word similar to the Christian view of the Trinity, more than singular but yet One. I don't have a problem with the view of the 3 as we see it in Matthew at Yeshua's mikvah, He in the water, the Holy Spirit descending upon Him as a dove and the Voice of the Father being heard. In fact, I love the picture that verse gives. But in Acts 7:55 where Stephen sees the Son of Man standing to receive him (I love that picture!!) apparently also sees the Father (or so that is the impression the verse gives). Is this the only place where the 2 are "seen" together? And how is that possible? Am I reading that verse wrong? Or is it only the glory that he saw and just assumed the Father was there, and was He? Learning :-) Cheri |

51 | Thank you to all | Rom 5:3 | skccab | 208898
Shalom y’all, It took 9 days, but I’m back!! They finally kicked me out!! I just want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers and thoughts. I’ve never known what it is like to have such a family throughout the world. I can say, it’s nice. There were times when I would be having a terrible time breathing and getting scared, and I’d feel the hand of prayer on me and God’s shalom so heavy it was tangible. I appreciated the phone calls, it was so nice to be talking to people all the way across the world and in just the next city. It was wonderful and comforting. I pray I can some day return the comfort. Once again, thank you so much. Cheri |

53 | Tithing, Giving, Itemizing | Rom 13:1 | skccab | 199790
Shalom y'all, This question is prompted by another's post about tithing non-cash items (and an extremely generous gift, I might add). I had this question actually prior to her posting though. I'm getting ready to bless my congregation with a needed item, and I'm wondering how everyone reconciles tithing - cash or non-cash - with claiming these on tax returns? The deductions obviously are not biblical - so does claiming them detract from the gift or not? I've always thought that if you give something you just give it and that's the end of it. I've never done anything like this before so I'm just wondering. By what or who's lead are we following in doing this (deducting that is)? Cheri |

54 | Rule and Reign over What? | 1 Cor 6:3 | skccab | 210997
Shalom y'all, I've got a question that's been boggling my mind for ages. The bible says that believers are to rule and reign with Messiah. OK, I've got that part easily enough, but if this is after (or also after) the millenium and great whtie throne judgement, what are we gonna rule and reign over???? There won;t be anything left that isn't a part of the Godly Family, will there? in a conundrum (???) :o) Cheri |

55 | Gotta draw on your memory, Doc :-) | 2 Cor 6:16 | skccab | 204288
Shalom y'all, this is for Doc,please About a year ago, Doc, you gave a list of Israel / Church connections (you said you had about 12 of them). I was just going over them and they are mostly pretty self-explanatory, EXCEPT for the first one. Is that a mistake or else, would you explain to me? I just can't see the connection? Thank you. this is the list you gave: Leviticus 26:11; 2 Corinthians 6:1 Deuteronomy 30:12-14; Romans 10:6-8 Deuteronomy 31:6; Hebrews 13:5 Deuteronomy 32:36; Psalms 135:14; Hebrews 10:30 Psalms 130:8; Titus 2:14 Psalms 22:22; Hebrews 2:12 Psalms 44:22; Romans 8:36 Psalms 95:7-11; Hebrews 3:7-11 Isaiah 28:16; Romans 10:11; Ephesians 2:20; 1 Peter 2:6 Isaiah 49:8; 2 Corinthians 6:2 Isaiah 52:7; Romans 10:15 Isaiah 54:1; Galatians 4:27 Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 8:8-12 Ezekiel 37:27; 2 Corinthians 6:1 Hosea 13:14; 1 Corinthians 15:55 Hosea 1:10; 2:23; Romans 9:25-26; 1 Peter 2:10 Joel 2:32; Romans 10:1 |

56 | Adam and Eve Perfect or Flawed | 1 Tim 2:11 | skccab | 208124
Shalom y'all, The little discussion we had going earlier about lying got me to thinking about this particular scene in Gen. 3:3 when Eve said to the serpent that God said not to even touch the fruit. We know that God created everything perfect, nothing was flawed, so I don't think it could be she was confused or forgetful (after all there wasn't a whole lot to remember, just don't eat from that tree over there, how hard is that?) And she hadn't eaten the fruit yet, so sin has not yet entered the picture. Her spirit was still alive and well. How did she know to lie since that would come with the knowledge of good and evil from the forbidden tree? (I do realize that Adam could have told her that, but then the only change would be how did Adam know to lie?) Does anyone have any thoughts on this, or better yet, done some study on it? Just thinking :-) Cheri |

57 | What is the meaning of "the order of..." | Heb 1:1 | skccab | 209827
Shalom y'all, Meta brought this up in one of his posts, but I didn't want him to think I was "picking" on him over it - it just got me to wondering. I've spent the last 10 days trying to figure out the "order of Melchezidek" and the "Levitical order." That is what "the order" is and what does the word "order" pertain to? What I've come up with is this: Levitical order - animal, concurrant, continuous (almost like a 1 Jn. 1:9 prayer but a sacrifice instead) Melchezidek - himself, once (only he never did offer himself so why is it called the Order of Melchedizek?) Still have some work to do....:-) Anyone have something else? I'd be interested to know. Cheri |

58 | Abraham and Abimelech | James 4:2 | skccab | 213116
Shalom y'all, I have a question, it's a "why" that pretty much calls for speculation but I would like to hear other's thoughts. In Gen. 20:7 God is telling Abimelech that Abraham will pray for him and his house to be healed. Why didn't God just go ahead and do this Himself at that time? Was he wanting somehow to exalt Abraham in the eyes of this king? Thanks to all Cheri |

59 | Sin unto death | 1 John | skccab | 202280
Shalom y'all again, This question is probably a really dumb question, and the answer is most likely right under my nose and I'm missing it, but here goes: Scripture first: 1Jn 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 1Jn 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 1Jn 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. WHAT is the sin unto death? I know that one obviously is not accepting Messiah as Lord and Savior but that can't be what John's talking about because we're told in no uncertain terms to pray for unbelievers. From the wording, it appears that it is not a secret sin, something only done behind closed doors, it's something one could see the brother doing out in the open. What is it?? Thanks (feeling kinda silly I don't know this) :-) Cheri |
