22 | Covenant of Salt | OT general | skccab | 195813
Shalom y'all again, I know it seems like I'm all over the place but I'm not really. I'm doing a study in Matthew chapter 5. My question now is where is the original covenant of salt found? Mt. 5:13 takes me to 2 Chron. 13:5 and that takes me to Num. 18:19 where the covenant of salt is mentioned as having been made. But all other references stay in the Gospels and Apostolic Writings (Num. 18:19 takes me back forward to 2 Chron 13:5). Anyone know? :-) Cheri |

23 | Outside the camp, there's a place clean? | OT general | skccab | 202019
shalom y'all, I may be asking prematurely but I just read a verse that is somewhat confusing. Num. 19:9 states to take the ashes outside the camp "to a place that is clean." So far in my studies, up to this point, it appears that ALL of the area outside of the camp was considered unclean. Any ideas? Thanks Cheri |

24 | What is the Ending to Preterism view? | NT general Archive 1 | skccab | 193129
Hi All, I've been through a few threads about "preterism," and I've been reading "Escotology 101" by Jim Wade (too much reading and too much bouncing around)and I've yet to find the TWO answers I'm looking for: If this view is true, where does that leave us? and how does it all end? I can't seem to find the answers for those questions. Does anyone else know? |

25 | How do we see ourselves? | NT general Archive 1 | skccab | 193213
Hi all God's morning to ya First let me say, I've been blessed reading the posts here on SBF. I've grown much since I joined waaaay back in April :-) I don't ask too many questions, cos usually I can find the answers on my own (by using the search feature), but this particular question, I wanted to ask and get fresh answers. But I want to preface my question first with LOTS of scripture so --- Please sit back and enjoy your Word trip to my question. Rom. 8:1 …for those who are in Yeshua Messiah. Rom. 8:9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you… Rom. 8:10 If Messiah is in you… Rom. 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Yeshua from the dead dwells in you,…through His Spirit who dwells in you. Rom. 8:14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Rom. 8:15 …but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out,“Abba! Father!” Rom. 8:16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, Rom. 8:17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Messiah… Rom. 8:27 …for He intercedes for the saints… Rom. 8:28 …to those who are called according to His purpose. Rom. 8:29 …He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren, Rom. 8:33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? …. Rom. 9:23 …the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, Rom. 9:24 even us, whom He also called,… 1 Cor. 1:8 who will also confirm you to the end, blameless… 1 Cor. 1:9 …through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Yeshua Messiah, our Lord. 1 Cor. 3:9 …you are God’s field, God’s building 1 Cor. 12:27 Now you are Messiah’s body, and individually members of it. 2 Cor. 1:21 Now He who establishes us with you in Messiah and anointed us is God, 2 Cor. 1:22 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge. 2 Cor. 2:15 For we are a fragrance of Messiah to God among those who are being saved… 2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Cor. 5:21 …so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Cor. 6:16 …For we are the temple of the living God; … Gal. 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Messiah Yeshua. Gal. 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Messiah have clothed yourselves with Messiah. Gal. 3:29 And if you belong to Messiah, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise. Eph. 1:4 …who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Messiah, Eph. 1:5 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. … Eph. 2:5 …made us alive together with Messiah… Eph. 2:6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Yeshua Messiah, Eph. 2:19…but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, Eph. 2:22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit. Eph. 4:23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, Eph. 4:24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Col. 1:12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light. Col. 1:13 …and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, Col. 1:22 …in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach- Col. 3:10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him- Col. 3:12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved… I'm sure by now you know what I was trying to point out and that there are just bookoos more (like almost ALL of 1 John) but I had to stop somewhere. (I originally had what I was leading up to underlined but it didn't "take" here.) QUESTION: The Pauline Letters NEVER speak of a believer as a sinner (a sinner before believing - yes; but never after being saved). So why do we? I listen to Vernon McGee and he's always calling himself a sinner, and there are others. Why? If we stick our hands in our pockets, lower our eyes to the ground, and mumble , "Ah shucks, ma'am, I'm just a sinner saved by grace," aren't we calling God a liar and His Word a lie? Cos as far as I have been able to see, the Bible doesn't say that those who are saved are sinners. (Sure, we still commit sin sometimes, but usually not in bold disobedience but in times of complacency or just stupidity, but that doesn't make us to be "sinners" again, does it?) (Let me now qualify my word "never." In the study I just performed, I did not come across any such statement, though I could have missed it.) Still learning Cheri |

26 | Denomiations | Gen 1:1 | skccab | 199067
Shalom y'all, I was wondering if someone could give me briefly, what the differences are between all the different major denominations: Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Mennonite, Adventists, Church of God, Church of Christ, etc. Or maybe someone knows of a website that maybe compares them? Thanks in advance Cheri |

27 | Abram or Abraham at Ishmael's birth | Gen 22:2 | skccab | 195173
Shalom y'all, I have a simple question. I know the Biblical accounts of events are not always chronological so...when Ishmael was born, was Abraham Abraham at the time or was he still Abram? I'm thinking that he was still Abram and that would clear up my confusion about God's statement to Abraham to "take his only son, Isaac..." Cheri |

28 | Heavenly or Earthly Messengers? | Gen 32:1 | skccab | 213927
Shalom y'all, In Gen. 32:1, the "angels of God" - is the original word melech? Messengers? These are just "messengers" from Esau, right? They are not actual angels like the ones that approached Abram just before the destruction of Sodom and Gommorah, right? (I have that ISA Basic program but it's difficult to use sometimes, and this time it didn't give me the word I'm familiar with.) I'm just a little confused :o) Thanks for the help Cheri |

29 | Exodus 23:19, last part mostly | Exodus | skccab | 201301
Shalom y'all It's me again :-) I've read through the Bible 4 times in the last 2 years and each time I come to this passage, it totally throws me. I was wondering if anyone has heard any teachings on it, that maybe it means something more than just what the words are saying. The passage is Exod. 23:19b. Normally, I don't go searching for "hidden" or "deeper" meanings but this verse is just ODD. God is talking about His feasts in all the verses above and even in the beginning of this particular verse and in the verses afterward He's promising the conquest of the land - this command just seems to be stuck in a place that is very odd. It appears to be totally off the wall - and I know that our God is not a God of confusion so what am I missing here? Still learning Cheri |

30 | Colors - Tabernacle/High Priest | Ex 25:3 | skccab | 191664
Morning all, Over the weekend I was doing a small study of the wilderness Tabernacle from Exodus Ch. 25. As I was reading the description as given to Moses I noticed that the colors for the Tabernacle match the colors for the High Priest's garments, only reversed - the Tabernacle is white from the outer to the inner colors and the priest's are outer colors to the white inside (underneath). Is there any significance to this? Just wondering Cheri |

31 | Pillars of Coud and Fire | Num 14:13 | skccab | 196811
Shalom y'all, I have been reading Numbers and am at Num. 14:13-14, and I got to wondering about the pillars of cloud and fire I can't recall reading the answer anywhere. In this verse Moses says that the Egyptians have heard how God walks among the children of Israel and about the pillars of cloud and fire. What I'm wondering is this...During the years in the wilderness, was that cloud visible to others? Caravans of other travellers passing by at a distance, would they have been able to see the cloud? especially the pillar of fire by night, would that have been noticeable to them? Cheri |

32 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:1 | skccab | 195798
Shalom y'all, In Num. 25:6-12, why did the elimination of the man and the Midianite woman by Phinehas stop the plague. I know that the two went into the tabernacle at that point (and that was definitely not a good thing) but the plague was already in progress. What I'm missing is the significance of the two and their termination. Did I miss some passages that stated their sin began the plague? Can someone enlighten me? How did their deaths contribute to the stopping plague? Or was it just Phinehas taking the initiative? still learning Cheri |

34 | Balaam and Balak | Num 31:16 | skccab | 196840
Shalom again, y'all, I'm at a loss again and missing something. I've just finished the Balaam/Balak chapters in Numbers (22-24). I'm using the NKJV and I don't see where Balaam told Balak how to overcome Israel. Does he show up again later, did I misunderstand something he said in Chs. 23 and 24, or like a nimnull do I have him mixed up with some other prophet? (I was thinking he was the prophet who fell from God's favor because he advised the enemy to get Israel to intermarry and worship the enemy's gods? And that happens in Ch. 25 but I don't see Balaam's name anymore in the next few chapters.) Help? :-) Cheri |

35 | Moabites forbidden and Ruth allowed?? | Deut 23:3 | skccab | 214559
Shalom y'all, I'm missing something here, so I need some help. Deut. 23:3 says that a Moabite will "never" enter into the assembly of God. Wasn't Ruth a Moabitess? How do we reconcile a Moabitess joining Israel (and becoming a part of the lineage of Jesus) to Deut. 23:3? What am I missing? Thanks in advance Cheri |

37 | Differences in the listing of the Tribes | Ps 77:13 | skccab | 201001
Shalom y'all, This is a question about "end times" and reconciling some differences in the 12 Tribes. In Gen. 48 we have a listing of the 12 sons of Jacob with Joseph effectively being replaced by his 2 sons, this gives us 13 tribes, so Levi is dropped as an inheritor of a portion of Canaan becoming the ransom for the firstborn dedicated to God, that gives us 12 again. I know, this is not news. But in Rev. 7 where we have the 12 Tribes where the 144,000 sealed come from we no longer see Ephraim and Dan but we do see Joseph and Levi. I don't have a lot of trouble figuring out the return of Levi, and not a whole lot of trouble with the disappearance of Ephraim - but I am wondering about the missing Dan and why Joseph was brought back in (because Manasseh is still among the names). Any help out there? Still learning Cheri |

38 | Need google help for timeline fulfullmen | Isaiah | skccab | 208955
Shalom y'all, In the book of Isaiah, especially, there are numerous passages that read something like: "within a year, this, that or the other thing will happen..." and it's God speaking to Isaiah. Is there a place on line that I can go to check this out, get the timeline and fulfillment? I can't seem to think of what to google, what search words to use. Any help? Thanks Cheri |

39 | Cloud and Smoke | Is 6:4 | skccab | 201904
Shalom y'all, I'm reading Isaiah right now and happened on 6:4. Is the smoke that filled the temple equated with the cloud that filled the wilderness tabernacle, the glory of God? or is it something else? Thanks Cheri |

40 | Judgment - clarification requested | Is 14:12 | skccab | 186291
John, I've read this thread, and found your mention of the Judgmemt before Christ. Forgive me if my question is inappropriate, or in a wrong place - but my understanding of that event has always been that it's more a moment of reward or lack thereof. That the "judgment" took place at the Cross when we accepted Jesus as Savior, and we continue in self-judgment and when we find ourselves in need of correction, by 1Jn 1:9, we take care of the matter - so it is therefore no longer judgment but reward (or lack of reward). Rom 2:6 For God will reward each of us according to what we have done. Perhaps I've misunderstood you, so let me state that I'm referring to the catching away of the saints of God (the Rapture as some call it), not the Great Day of the Lord, where the unrighteous dead and living will be judged. Have I gotten it all backwards? Eager to learn. Blessings Cheri |
