2741 | need for a bible-anyone | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 50656
Dear Raven: I was not the complainer. I always pray more, and ask for patients in dealing with what God has allowed to enter my life. Be it the Forum or in the non cyber world which I really do live. I wish you would put some information about your self in the user info. You have been active for some time now. However that is your call. I actually have an open heart, so I can reach out to others, whom I consider a fellow christian. My face, hair, and body show the years, but my mind is always growing in the Word. In reviewing your notes and answers, I see you as peson that views the Word with yes or no answers. Sort of good or bad, right or wrong, black or white. Raven, I see all these things as well. I have no problem with black or white, right or wrong. What I have come to see much of life is not that clear cut. The gray areas, the situation ethics of the worlds, and christian thought. I See some things the Bible is silent on. I do not believe that even under the most uncertian circumstances we are without some clues. Love, covers a bunch of sins. My version, same meaning. If we lack love and give up our life it is a waste. Perhaps that Love never fails, if my hope when there seems there is no hope. Raven, with love, kindness amd mercy we can have more of an impact in our answers and notes on others. Sometimes some may think you may not see these special God qualities inwhatyou write. Yes we need to be honest, truthfull and not water anything down. To repeat a old childrens song, A little bit of sugar helps the medicine go down. Have you ever read any of HANK in the forum? He has a wise way of saying some very direct answers. No one will agree with anyone 100 percent of the time. Why I don't evenagree with me sometimes! No one expects that we all will like each other. However God does expect us to love one another. Wow that hard! By the way what do you think Uriah had to say to David when they finally ment face to face in paridise? Oh boy! God has to do something to our temperment when we pass on to His presence! Well Raven, we all need to work on that temperment while we are here too. Maybe it will be an easier job for God latter. Ha Ha that's some justme humor. You are loved Raven! Reflect that mercy and love God has so generiously given you and me, as we try to share in this forum. That is my honest advice. Let your love be so great that people will be drawn to hear the GOOD NEWS of Jesus in you. May peace, mercy and love surrond you. agape, justme |

2742 | When will my husband find me? | Ps 37:4 | justme | 50654
Dear inmyheart: This is a crazy world is it not? Those who are married, for a large number wish they weren't. Those that are not want to be. And I am refering to christians. We have a son who is in the same mindset. My advice, which is free today, is for you to become as much like Cedhrist as humanly possible. Take a Holy Spirit evaluation. Ask is there anything that I need to more fully yield to you dear Jesus. No be carefull, when you pray this, look out. You will get an answer. Are you prepared to make the changes Jesus askes? Now pray to be in Gods direct will at all times. When you are in Gods direct will, then what happens in your life will be His very best. Then you wont have to worry where is Mr. Right. I hope this does not sound too simple, but it does work. Make known to God what the desires of your heart is. Psalm 37:3 to 5. Read it and pray, trusting God for the very best for your life. I know it works! We have been married almost 33 years. That prayer to be in Gods direct will is good for all your life, as long as you are here on earth. agape, justme |

2744 | pastors income ? | 1 Tim 5:17 | justme | 50648
Dear Strongfellow: lCor,9:9 to 14. This specfically says a Pastor is entitled to receive his income from the Church. Even a Bi-vocational minister needs to be supported. The Elders or Decons, depending on how your church is set up, are responsible for three tables. The Lords Table, the Pastors table, and the Poor's table. All pastors serve full time! Some only get part time pay. This is a very sensitive subject for me. I experienced first hand what it was to have to care for our family on 65.dollars a week in 1986 to 1989. We paid all utilities in a rundown 100 plus year old parsonage. Yes the church incresaed the missiom giving every year, but never an increase for our family. I saw hours upon hours of visitation, sermon preperation, and constant interuption of our time with our family time. As a family our children went with out. As a family we were totally supportive of the ministry. We had no health insurance. Their pastor often beat the ambulance to the ER when some called to tell him someone was hurt. Yes God supplied our needs. The people of the church missed out on a deep blessing. Did it have an effect on our children? Oh yes, and it was almost too high a cost. Consider this, it cost over 100,000. dollars to get his BA, M.Div. and MARS degrees. And the Lord, with ways that seem hard to understand, the debt of student loans were paid in full. But not by the church, or amyone in any church. This nearly cost him his life. Was it worth it? Yes! Is ministry painful, yes! Infact it cost Jesus His life. Are we as Families in ministry going to suffer? We expected it would! And with no supprise it did. So what about pastors income? Having been the person responsible for the budget, let me make a suggestion. A full time pastor should make no less than the avarage income of the people he serves. If you have a parsonage make at nice as the avarage church members home. Be generious, remember, how the childrens dad is paid directly influences how they see God as supplying their needs. Make an effort to show some kind of tangeable reward durring Pastors Appreciation Month! Rember the families birthdays, if with nothing more than a cake, show you care! I would insist that the Pastor take two vacations a year. Remember he to needs to recharge his spiritual life, and be alone with his family. Above all else if you have a problem with the pastor, don't go to his wife, or fellow church members! Go directly to him first! Then go by Matt 18:15 to 20. Never fire a pastor with out him being directly involved. Get a third spiritual party to help work through the problem. If leaving is the only answer, then make your parting as kind as possible. Remember the community you live in is watching you. Also remember, the pastors family needs grace and mercy as well. Ther are no perfect churches, and there is no such thing as a perfect pastor either. In the four churches we served, together as a family, we gave more than we ever received from the church. We recieved from the Lord through other people outside the church more than we evrer gave. Many churches miss a blessing by not ministering to their pastor and his family. I am totally convienced that God will care for the pastors family regardless, even if the church is stingy God wil supply the need, some how . Did our children come out as adults with hurt feelings? YES, our three year old, at the time, I can still remembering her asking, why doesn't my Sunday school teacher love me any more? As an adult she has said how much that hurt her. I would say make any leaving experience for the pastors family a kind one. When a pastor resigns bare in mind most likely he has prayed until his eyes were overflowing, before making the final choice. Pastors are a gift from God, and so are churches. So pray four pastor as much as you expect him to pray for you. agape justmer |

2745 | New life? | Acts 2:38 | justme | 50630
Dear Grace and Truth: There is a very close relationship in believing in Christ and, baptism closely following conversion. I think you will see new life starts when by faith we make Christ Lord. The two were considered part of one event. Even though Baptism is not a means by which we enter into a saving relationship with Christ, baptism is most certianly associated with union with Christ. I summerised and added to the NASB STUDY BIBLE notes on verse 4. I felt it helped me express a very touchy subject, that has cause a huge, needless debate in the recent past. I have move closer to believing that baptism complets this Union between Christ and the Believer than I did before. I still believe if a person prayes to make Christ Lord with no chance of being baptized and dies, say while in the hospital, that person would be saved. However, any person who refuses to be baptized by immerson has a fatal flaw in their faith. I hope this does not confuse you. agape, justme |

2746 | Does Not Mean Baptism | John 3:5 | justme | 50623
Daer New Creature: We have said a lot sense I wrote this, and I feel you personality is unique. You are very direct. Sometine that directness comes like a atom bomb! When a small hammer would have been kinder. Perhaps, kinder words would give a more recptive message. We all suffer from being hasty with our words. I read this a long time ago, I will pass it on to you. I do not know the author. Lord help my words to be soft and tender; for tommrow I may have to eat them. I have had to eat some mighty tough shoe leather words. It is not easy to swallow, I know, agape, justme |

2747 | baptismal regeneration - true or false | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 50619
Dear New Creature. I have found those whom the lord has forgiven much, love for Christ can be deep. Not always, but I have seen it. I continue to trust that I may have a chance to grow, and perhaps encourage a growing christian, or that I can experience growth my self. C.S. Lewis said Pain is the megaphone that gets mans attention. We can most deffinatly say 911 was a megaphone! Churches had increased attendance after that, Bible sales were at an all time high! But people are settling back to old ways now, again as usual. I have one friend that has been with me for 33 years. That person I married, my best friend. My partner knows me, almost as well as the Lord. Whats odd is neither has leftme, regardless of what I have done. The realtionship we have with Christ is to be a mirror of Christ' love for us. That is a task and a half. agape, justme |

2748 | need for a bible-anyone | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 50616
Dear Raven: If you are willing to dialogue this, and I do so with respect for you, I would ask some thing further. No disrespect or stirring of emotions involved, ok? In Acts 16:29-34. In this case the Prison jailer was told to Believe and you shall be saved. With no hesitation the Jailer and his family were baptized. So I can see your point. I have no problem with baptism being proof of the fact you have repented and are now saved. In fact when ever someone refuses to, then that is evidence that salvation has not really happened. Would we be together so far? The only issue I question is the final judge is of course is Jesus Christ. Right? As scripture says my ways are not His ways. I in no way I want you to think I see baptism as anything less than a required commitment that is instructed by The Lord to do. However I am willing to share Christ with some one who is quite near death and let the Lord make the judgement call on if that person is welcome or is to be departed to eternal punishment. For me, I believe my responsibility is to plant the seed. The growth is up to that person, and if I can assist them in growing that's good too. We may not be as far off as you think. I personally allow God to show mercy to whomever He so desires. God knows I surely do not deserve Salvation, I am unworthy! I walk by faith not by sight. Perhaps it is the aspect of allowing God to judge these situations is where I believe slightly from you. What do you honestly think? agape, justme |

2751 | baptismal regeneration - true or false | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 50491
Dear New Creature. Please do not feel sorry. Lets grow through this for Gods Glory. Lets focus on what we have in common! We have the Lord Jesus Christ. May I sugest the division that Jesus refered to was not among Christians. In fact there are several warnings not to cause division in the Body of Christ. lCor.12:25, Rom. 17:17, lCor.1:10, l Cor. 11:18. We are warned in Titus 3:10 to warn a divisive person. We are to be differnt than the unsaved world. We are told to let our love for other christians so show that the worldly will know we are different. I know you will agree that to be in this world, we are divided from the world by our faith in Christ. I personally have suffered because I refuse to go along with what was expected of me from a godless group of neighbors. We are pilgrams, not of this world. However God has blesssed me with more of the worlds tempoary possitions, to use for His Glory. We are not wealthy by any means. But God abundantly has supplied us with more than our needs. This was not always the case. We know what blessed are the poor means, as well. I personally spent one year in a Navy Hospital, being told I would not live. I saw no one who cared, except the Salvation Army who visited and gave me things to make me comfortable, thank God! I had over 50 spinal taps, over 300 IV bottles, My health was changed forever. I am 100 percent disabled. For Gods glory I am what I am. I was a mean unsaved person, back in 1968. I can tell you if Jesus can save me, then Jesus can save and spiritual heal anyone who is willing to repent and make Jesus Lord! I prayed out loud in a bath tub to change me or to let me go. Jesus took me, naked as when I was born, and by a strange coinsidense, as wet, as my physical birth. Jesus saved me! I was born again in the bath tub in 1983! I get shivers all over when I see how Jesus changed a rock hard hearted person to a tender soft hearted child of the King Jesus. Thank You Lord for what I do not deserve! I hope my sharing a part of my life will open you thinking to see how God works with us all not in the same way. Pray for me, and I will pray for you. Let there never be a nother unkind word be said by us to each other. That is my prayer. agape, just me |

2752 | Does Not Mean Baptism | John 3:5 | justme | 50486
Dear New Creature: I am trying to be kind and loving towards you. For some reason you seem to attack me at every point you can. This is not as it should be. Neither of needs to defend God. You can be kind to us sisters, and brothers, as we too are children of the Living Lord Jesus. Might I suggest you pray before you answer with a note or ask a question, If you feel the message you post will stirr up more ill feelings perhaps it might be better put off until you have total peace about it. As for Ryrie or any scholar I know they are human like us all and are subject to make a mistake. I know as I am maturing some ideas that I believed when I became a christian, have matured by reading more of the Scripture, my spiritual knowledge has widened in th scope of understanding and therefore have had to reconsider my views. I still am growing, and learning to see the body of Christ, or Bride of Christ is much larger than I first thought. I will pray for peace between us, and better understanding. agape, justme |

2756 | need for a bible-anyone | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 50422
Dear Raven: This note is more in tone of kindness, thank you. If we carry your thinking then shouln not women be silent and in this foeum find out id we are addressing a man, and not instruct him? For me the mode of Baptism is just as important as when. I believe people who refuse to follow the Lords command are not geninuely saved. In all sincerity, what about the thief on the cross? Also I once visited a lady in a cancer ward. she was near death, she praid to repant of her sins, and asked Christ to be her Lord. She died quite soon after. What happened to her soul. She would have crawld to be baptized if she were able. our pastor sprinkled he as a sign of what baptism is. He made it clear it was not baptism, but she had some peace. Things make me sad. justme |

2757 | need for a bible-anyone | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 50413
Dear Raven: Who is Raven, to be so self assured that you only can trust what you understand to be exact truth? Are you not a human with all the frailness of being humans. I preceieve you as not respecting any of the humans that God has used in such a mighty way. You criticism of other sheep in the Lords pen is very sharp. The body of Christ has more believers than just your church. Do you see that? Every human I have ever known has flaws and they sin l John 1:10. I wish you could disagree in a sweeter tone. Your responce to me yesterday wounded my heart deeply. I wonder if you see how just the tone of your notes can cut like a knife. Is this anyway to treat a sister or brither in the Lord? Think on this, pray and then write me a note. I will be in prayer about this as well. Justme |
