261 | what are the meaning of Lev.12 | Lev 12:5 | prayon | 144371
Greetings Jolly, Although we do not know the exact reason there is some speculation as to why the purification after a girl was longer than a boy. One speculation is that it was intended to remind the people of the fact that woman represents the lower side of human nature, and was the first to fall into temptation. Another line of thought is that it was founded upon the notion, which was very common in antiquity, that the bleeding and watery discharge continued longer after the birth of a girl than after that of a boy. Still another line of thought suggests that a male infant circumcised on the eighth day, by the profusion of its own blood, bears part of the purgation; wherefore the mother, for the birth of a female, must suffer twice the time of separation. What ever was the reason the stigma was removed in Christ (see 1Tim 2:14-15). prayon |

262 | Confusion concerning Jesus's death | Lev 17:11 | prayon | 31739
Greetings chynna, In the OT God commanded that whenever you sin you must present a sin offering. This offering must be an animal (free of blemishes) which was chosen by your station in life (Lev 4:13-35). Blood was a very important part of the sacrifice because the life of the flesh is blood. In other words, when you sin God demanded blood in order to forgive you. The sinner placed his hands upon the animal and transfered all of his sins to the animal and then the animal was sacrificed for the sin. When Christ came he became the sin offering. Jesus took all of our sins upon Himself and died for us on the cross. His blood was the sacrifice for our sins. If He had not died we would not have forgiveness for our sins and we would still be sacrificing animals. Before Jesus went to the cross He was sin free. While upon the cross everything became dark (Matt 27:45-50). In this darkness Jesus cried out to God and God lifted the darkness, symbolizing His full acceptance of the sin offering. At this point Jesus was again sin free. He died sin free and thus was not destined for hell. Hope this helps. prayon |

263 | What does Hebrews 8 Mean? | Lev 17:11 | prayon | 48734
Chapter 8 in Hebrews is a comparison of the old covenant which was a covenant of law between God and Isreal with the new covenant of grace. Jesus states that He is the fulfillment of the law in the sense that God requires a blood sacrifice for sin. To be forgiven for a sin blood must be shed (see Lev 17:10-11). In the old covenant the blood of an animal was shed. With the new covenant the blood of Christ was shed for the sins of all. When Christ stated that He did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it He was referring to the blood sacrifice He was to offer in order to fulfill God's rule that blood must be shed for the forgiveness of sins. Christ only canceled out the sacrificing of animals for sins, not the old testament. prayon |

264 | Searching for the truth | Lev 18:22 | prayon | 92299
Greetings FytRobert, It is absolutely NOT in line with the Word! The strongest word the bible uses in the negative sense is abomination. Lev 18:22 tells us that for a man to lie with a woman it is an abomination tp the Lord. I really wonder how they can ignore that part of the word of God. prayon |

265 | Searching for the truth | Lev 18:22 | prayon | 92374
Greetings, Strong's dictionary defines "lie" as:A primitive root; to lie down (for rest, sexual connection, decease or any other purpose): - X at all, cast down, ([over-]) lay (self) (down), (make to) lie (down, down to sleep, still, with), lodge, ravish, take rest, sleep, stay (7901). It is very possible that one could twist the meaning of the word "lie" to fit their need, however, I refer you to 1Cor 6:9-10: "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, """"""""nor homosexuals,"""""""""" nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. Lev 18:22 Never have sexual intercourse with a man as with a woman. It is disgusting. (God's Word) I don't think it can be made much plainer than this. Another proof that adultry is a sin is found in Rom 1:27 - Likewise, their men have given up natural sexual relations with women and burn with lust for each other. Men commit indecent acts with men, so they experience among themselves the punishment they deserve for their perversion. Yet another proof can be found in 1Tim 1:10 - 1Ti 1:10 Laws are intended for people involved in sexual sins, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for those who lie when they take an oath, and for whatever else is against accurate teachings. Here Paul likens them to kidnappers and liars. In addition Gen 19 tells the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. All the male citizens of Sodom wanted Lot to send out the angels so that they could have sex with them. Lot called them evil. The bible has been quite clear on the subject of homosexuality. Those who practice it are blinded to the Word of God and walk with the unrighteous. prayon |

266 | can you put memorials of loved ones on u | Lev 19:28 | prayon | 175209
Greetings and welcome to the forum! There is a second scripture that I think is applicable. 1Co 6:19 says Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own. I believe that since our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit we should not put markings on them any more than we should put markings on His temple. 267 | Who is Molech? | Lev 20:2 | prayon | 48821
Molech was a pagan god to whom child sacrifices were made. Children were dedicated and burned to Molech at the Tophet in the Valley of Hinnon near Jerusalem. This practice is specifically mentioned in 4 passages in the OT; Lev 18:21; 20:2-5; 2 Kings 23:10; Jer 32:35. Some scholars have suggested that the term "passing over" children to Molech and "burning in fire" indicate a dedication of the children to the god's service rather than the actual sacrifice. Jer. 19:5 calls such offerings "burnt offerings" and Ez 23:37-39 calls the act slaughter and says the children were given to the god as food. The worship may of been of Phoenician origin. Deuteronomy explains it as the custom of the indigenous population of Caanan. The Isrealites practiced this type of worship about 160 years beginning in 735 BC. Josiah's reforms attempted but did not totally eradicate it. (Harpers Bible Dictionary). prayon |

268 | Being friends w/a married man; adultery? | Lev 20:10 | prayon | 109175
Greetings Vala, I agree with mommapbs, the bible does not prohibit friendship. But I want to remind you of the following scriptures. We must also use caution in our actions so that we do not lead others astray. Although the friendship may be strictly friendship others may not see it like that. A ababy Christian may see you and feel that since you are 'in a relationship' it must be ok. Mat 5:29 "But if your right eye causes you to stumble pluck it out and cast from you, for it is better for you that one of your body parts perish and not your whole body be cast into hell Rom 14:21 It is good not to eat meat nor to drink wine nor by which your brother is caused to stumble or is made to fall or becomes weak. 1Co 8:13 For this very reason, if food causes my brother to stumble, I shall never at all eat flesh into the age, so that I do not cause my brother to stumble. prayon |

269 | Justify Leviticus 20:13 | Lev 20:13 | prayon | 60244
I can justify it because it is the word or God pure and simple. God tells us that homoseuality is an abomination to Him, which is one of the strongest words He uses anywhere in the bible and it is just as true and applicable today as it was in Moses day when He gave the law. I am sure that there are those who find it offensive. They can find it offensive but if they choose to have eternal life they must obey God's word and not participate in something that God forbids us to do. Those who do not obey God's word will suffer the consequences of their choices. Religion is not a way of controlling but a way of providing freedom to the masses. God never prevented us from having what you call creative and independant thought. He gave us the right to make our own choices and to think what we want. Those who think Christians are being fooled are themselves the ones who are deceived. prayon |

272 | Moses and the Canaan land | Num 20:12 | prayon | 77930
To add to Tim's responce I wanted to add that the people were thirsty and needed water for their animals. God told Moses to strike the rock his staff one time, however Moses was so angered at the people that he struck the rock twice directly disobeying God. As punishment God told him that he would not enter the promised land. I don't think that there was anything that Moses could of done to change this. When we disobey God He will punish us just as we punish our children when they do something wrong. We are God's children. prayon |

274 | Donkey crush Balaam's foot? | Num 22:22 | prayon | 111767
Greetings, The donkey saw the Angel of the Lord standing ahead of them. If he would of stayed on the path they were on they would of walked over the angel. The donkey tried getting as close to the wall as possible trying to avoid the angel thus crushing his foot against the wall. prayon
275 | What animal spoke to Baalam? | Num 22:30 | prayon | 50875
Greetings angelface, To elaborate a little more on Jesusman's answer: There are parallels between Balaam and his donkey. First, just as Baalam pushes his donkey onward until he is brought up short by God's angel, so Balak keeps pushing Balaam to curse Israel although God repeatedly tells him not to. Next just as God opens the donkey's mouth to speak God's true words to Balaam so God will open the Balaam's mouth to speak God's real blessing on Israel. Third, the donkey's dilemma mirrors that of Balaam. The donkey is caught between the angel of God with his drawn sword and Balaam's stick, Similarily, Balaam is caught between the immoveable word of God and Balak's urgings. The miracle is not the point of the story, the point is the humiliation of Balaam who is supposed to be a seer but cannot even see the angel of the Lord although a donkey can. 276 | i do not understand deuteronomy | Deuteronomy | prayon | 16106
Welcome shepherd! Deuteronomy is Moses last message to Isreal. It's purpose is to remind the people what God has done and encourage them to rededicate their lives to Him. Moses first address in 1:1-4:43 is about what God has done for us. His second address 4:44-29:1 gives us the principles for Godly living. Moses third address, 29:2-30:20, is a call for commitment to God. Verses 31:1-34:12 talks about the change in leadership in Moses last days. The book of Deuteronomy is also called the book of love and is called the crown jewel of the Pentateuch. It is referred to about 200 times in the New Testament. It lays before us clearly what God expects from those who He redeems; a life of uncompromising obedience. prayon

279 | why did the law change about unclean mea | Deut 12:15 | prayon | 64888
Greetings newcomer and welcome to the forum! According to the McArthur Study Bible while sacrificial offerings were brought to the appointed centers for worship as well as the central sanctuary, the killing and eating of meat for regular eating could be engaged in anywhere. The only restriction on eating non-sacrificial meat was the prohibition of the blood and the fat; the blood being the symbol and vital element of life itself. This differed from the rules during their encampment. prayon
280 | Differences between intuition or psyhics | Deut 18:10 | prayon | 40321
Greetings, Psychics, witches, and soothsayers are among those who Moses warns us about in Deut 18:9-14 as being a unholy practices. We are to stay away from such things. Lev 19:31 tells us that if we rely on psychics and mediums we will be difiled by them. Lev 20:6 tell us that if we rely on them God will cut us off from him and in verse 27 He tells us that in the OT if we were to act as one we were to stoned. I believe that sometimes what we call a women's intuition is really that small, still voice of God. As to how they tie in psychics and soothsayers are one in the same. Sorry I can't help you with the bond between twins. prayon
