Dear Michael, Please forgive me my dear scholar. We are all here so used to mostly seeing questions to be answered and less and less, folks post notes as a sharing of their repository of exposition. As you noted, it is a free resource in an open access environment for all users to ask questions, give answers, and experience spiritual growth as a result. Which was why I got confused about your intention, it is a forum to ask questions and give answers. Rarely with the exception of Doc, does anyone drop a golden nugget for us all to ponder as a note dropped in the Primary section where questions that have been answered are left. When he does he makes clear his intention in posting by his clarification of the context of his content, usually by virtue of the content itself without explanation, which I did not see you had until you explained to me your purpose in posting it. Next time, I will just assume you are edifying us all and think that that is your context of your content. If you feel I presummed to speak for everyone else then I do aplogize to you in all sincerity. Looking forward to being taught by you. God's day to you, Tamara |

244 | How do we get saved, by baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Tamara Brewington | 203714
Good answer I believe this as well, however my concern was in how to reconcile apparently conflicting scriptures;Galatians 5:4, Romans 11:2,3, I Peter 1:4,5, Romans 8:37,38, about the requirments of salvation since I am encountering folks who believe in a false doctrine based on using only one set of scriptures and not all of scripture. Feel like giving a go at reconciling these scriptures?
245 | Do we get saved by Baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Tamara Brewington | 204348
Dear Doc, I have been working on this one for a while, I think I may have come up with a solution... Apparently conflicting scriptures; Galatians 5:4 You have been severed from Christ you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. The word severed is actually ceased to have effect. Ceased to have effect from annointed Christ were you who in law are being justifed, of the grace you fall out. That is the original wording and word order. Because it is impossible to lose one's salvation after once being saved, this is not saying that a believer who had been given grace fell out of salvation. It has to mean that one to whom the grace was offered who had been saved fell from grace and Christ ceased to have effect in thier life. In which case it is possible to be restored to a state of grace and for Christ to once again have effect in their life. Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The word order is not the important thing here, but the elements are. Peter was not trying to imply that the Holy Spirit is the result of water baptism. Peter was not trying to imply that that baptism confers forgiveness. Peter was saying first, repent and then be baptized, second you will recieve the Holy Spirit. Look at Ephesians 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of the truth, the gospel of your salvation - having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise. According to this passage once you hear the gospel and believe it you receive the Holy Spirit right away. See Acts 10:34-48 Peter is preaching the gospel and before he has a chance to finish and baptize every body, they believe, get saved and the Holy Spirit falls and they start speaking in tongues. Then Peter says nothing should prevent them from being baptized should it? The order of the events of salvation cannot be dictated as carved in stone based on Acts 2:38 or scriptures like it. I Peter 1:4,5 To obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. This passage shows that salvation is imperishable, it cannot be lost, or turned off. Believers are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed at the end. Romans 8:37,38 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of Christ, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Created things, angels, powers, death, principalities all these things involve sin and sin cannot separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus. Here is another one commonly used to mean that a believer once having believed can lose their salvation. Hebrews 6:4-6 For in the case of those who have once tasted the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted of the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. The passage is talking about those who are false prophets or apostate and both of these terms refer, in one sense, to those who were never saved, but professed to be. Consider Judas; did he not go out with the twelve healing, casting out demons all in the name of Jesus? Consider what Jesus says in Mathew 7:21,22 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform miracles? And I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness. According to this passage Jesus is saying that the folks who did do the works of Jesus in His name, if they don't do the will of the Father will be perishing. That means back up in Hebrews that it has to be talking about these same people who have made a false profession of Christ even though they used the name of Jesus to perform miraculous works and were given every opportunity at fellowship with God. I hope this qualifies as having reconciled the scriptures. I see that I originally left out the Acts 2:38 inadvertantly and in the same way put in Romans 11:2,3 by mistake. God bless, the hat lady |

246 | who will receive the crown of glory | 1 Pet 5:4 | Tamara Brewington | 205966
Dear John, Yeah John that was kind of cool! I am wondering what the difference is between the crown of glory in I Peter 5:4 and Revelation 4:10,11 and the crown of life in Revelation 2:10? I am seeing too in II Timothy 4:8 the crown of righteousness? The crown of rejoicing I Thessalonians 2:19? Do you know John? Those are three different Stephanos's, victor's crowns... 249 | Interpretative Schools? | Rev 1:1 | Tamara Brewington | 204546
Hi, Dear Val, Perhaps you can see from what I found by googeling the words why I was asking Doc if he was joking? But perhaps this is not the only partial preterist view out there. I went first to your site preceptaustin.org, then I went to gotquestionss.org, then I went to wikipedia, but eventually I setteled on somehthing bigger I found while googeling from a non discript site. The jist of what I could get out of it was that Partial Preterism is about; Those who hold to partial preterism believe that the prophecies in Daniel, Matthew 24, and Revelation, with the exception of the last 2-3 chapters of Revelation, have already been fulfilled and were fulfilled no later than the first century A.D. However, the partial preterist view may not have good biblical support. Those who hold this view do not interpret these Scripture passages books in a normal sense, but rather interpret them allegorically. As an example, Daniel 9:26-27 refers to Christ rather than to the antichrist beast who will appear in Revelation, for the beast, see 11:7 and chapters 13 thru 17, with 13 being quite extensive. In Daniel 9:24-27, Daniel is given a message from God by Gabriel 9:21 Daniel is told that God had decreed 70 weeks for his people, the Israelites, and that these 70 weeks were to 1 finish transgression; 2 make an end of sin; 3 make atonement for iniquity; 4 bring in everlasting righteousness; 5 seal up vision and prophecy; and 6 anoint the most holy place. Per Daniel 9:25-26, 62 plus 7 of these weeks 69 times 7 is 483 years passed and ended with the crucifixion of Christ Messiah will be cut off, v.26, with 1 week 7 years left to finish God's decree. Verse 26 also says, The people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. This speaks of the Roman Empire destroying Jerusalem and the temple, which occurred in A.D. 70. It should be noted that the prince was yet to come; only the people of the prince were the ones who destroyed Jerusalem. This also tells us that the antichrist/beast will come from a future revived Roman Empire. Verse 27 tells us more about this future world ruler. It says that this prince will make a covenant with many for one week, the 70th week is 7 years. Halfway through these seven years, he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering. This indicates that temple worship will be revived by Israel in the latter time, and he will put a stop to it. The last two phrases in verse 27 are what Christ referred to in Matthew 24:15. Christ called this future ruler the abomination of desolation. From Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15, and Revelation 13, we discover that this ruler will set himself in the future temple, proclaiming himself to be God, and demanding that the world worship him. Revelation 13:5 also confirms that it will happen at the midpoint of the seven-year tribulation period, for it says that he will be given authority for 42 months which equals 3 and 1 half years. Those who hold to partial preterism twist that which is recorded in Daniel 9:26-27, saying that it refers to Christ, not to the antichrist beast. A normal reading of Daniel 9:24-27, Matthew 24, and Revelation 13 will clear up a lot of the confusion. Those who hold to partial preterism also do not read Matthew 24 in a normal sense. Christ spoke of the destruction of the temple in A.D. 70 24:2. But much of what He spoke of did not occur in A.D. 70. Note that Daniel foretold that the people of the prince to come would destroy the temple and Jerusalem. Christ speaks not of the people, but of the prince to come, the abomination of desolation. Christ describes that future time as one of great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened Matthew 24:21-22. Christ also says, Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory Matthew 24:29-30. In order for the events of Matthew 24:15-30 to have already occurred, Christ would have returned bodily in A.D. 70, He did not. The partial preterist believes that this does not refer to a bodily return of Christ, but rather an appearing of His judgment. This is not what a normal reading of the text would lead anyone to believe. Tamara |

My mistake, I though I couldn't do that Lookin I though we were not allowed to past url's I think I have this site's rules confused with the ohter site I tried for a while - www.Biblediscussion.com not a very good site... a whole lot of non Christians in there boy and they have debates and scientists and Muslims and aetheist and you can say and do anything you want to in there and it was a real mess the way they post things and such. They locked me out for some reason, I can't post there anymore... No reason given, their posting system really sucks bad and you always lose whatever you were doing if you go back a page. People send you private messages in there which you can't receive or open left for you at their site too and you have to cut and paste their url's that they send in order to receive a note. Their post system brings everyone's comments back to you instead of to who was in the thread answering someone esle, they don't really have a thread, just one big open long page per question. I received some insultig and demeaning replies from a sicentist in there, over there anything goes... Oh well I am rambling, so here is a scripture; II Timothy 2:15,16 God's day to you, try www.preceptaustin.org and see if you can turn anything up there too. Tamara |

Dear Val, I am sorry you were so offended by the words boy and sucks and that you feel it was so unprofessional. Perhaps it was unprofessional of me Val, the word suck was realy apt to the situation, but I could have used a better word, but I fail to see how the word boy, which just denotes surprise, was unprofessional. I didn't know boy and sucks were slang words though any more than the word mess would be. I guess we all have different concepts of what slang words are. Point taken though, thanks Tamara |

I did not mean it that way, again, I sincerely aplogize to you if I was offensive Val, no offense was intended. Please forgive your sister in Christ, I repent. Tamara |

Yeah John I do find it very interesting as we are currently near the end of studying Revelation at church on Wednesday nights. I welcome the enlightenment John, I really do... :):):) I have been thinking a bit about elements of the Preterist view and thinking about how Jesus talked about both the fall of Jerusalem and the end times at once in Mathew or so they say, I mean some say... My trouble has been when regarding any type of view that espouses any part of of Revelation past chapters 2 and 3 has happened yet is that the rest of what is supposed to happen rather consecutively seems to have been broken up by more than 2,000 plus years. The problem with saying that the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD is that it is supposed to coincide with an appearing of Christ which did not happen, contrary to the veiws of those who like to say it was Christ appearing as Christ's judgment appearing. I like to take the tack as someone so graciously directed me to do and which my pastor gently reminded me of to not read into a passage double prophesies that the author never intended, or which logically can be refuted based on historical and or Biblical evidence. I like it when you do this John, make me think I mean. :):):) God Bless hat lady |

259 | REV 11 The Temple stands yet destroyed | Rev 1:11 | Tamara Brewington | 204592
Dear John, Tell me my dear good man, which part of Daniel's prophecy? Chapter 7,8,9,13 or other? Mathew 24:1-2 is indeed talking about the destruction of the temple and then the disciples ask when will it happend and when will Jesus come. So we know that Mathew 24:1-2 has already happened. Jesus addresses their concerns about His coming back in verses 4-31. Jesus addresses their concerns about His coming in verses 36-44. I don't agree that He addresses both parts of the question. He never addresses one of their concerns because the disciples have mistakenly placed together His coming with the fall of Jerusalem. Verse 34 has often been used to denote that the whole discourse was about their present generation, but it may well be referring to the generation of those who will, in the future near His coming be undergoing the great tribulation. According to verse 14 the gospel has to be preached to all the world before any of what He is saying can take place in the discourse as being the end. The gospel has not yet been finished being preached to all the earth yet, so the end has not yet come in order for all the various elements of the discourse to be applied to the first century. I don't think there is a break there, just my opinion. Like many other times Jesus does not answer the whole question, only the part He is interested in them knownig about. I am going to keep thinking about this. Say I wanted to say to you that you were the only one to answer any question I posted from Tuesday morning beyond a short reply and I appreciate the time you took to answer.:) Ain't tryin to complain, just grateful. God Bless hat lady Yeah John I don't want to be slippin and slidin with that inquisitive mind there. |
