21 | What does? | Matt 11:12 | ItsMe | 161925
I take it that we are to constantly be in battle for Him. It is a fight against this world. Every day when we wake, we enter the battlefield. More and more, in this country, the Bible is being ignored, excuses made to go against it - by even our judges and politicians. We have to fight for the truth. That doesn't mean to always be doom and gloom - because the battle is already won, we know how it ends. And there is so much in this world that is wonderful and good - babies, children, music, nature. Praise Him, but always be ready and on your guard, to share Him, and to show He is real.
22 | who was elisha's servant? | 2 Kin 4:11 | ItsMe | 161923
2 Kings 4 and 5 discuss Elisha's servant - Gehazi was the name.
23 | who did peter deny jesus | Mark 14:66 | ItsMe | 161915
From the NIV - While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him. "You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus," she said. But he denied it. "I don't know or understand what you're talking about," he said, and went out into the entryway. |

24 | Need help with adultry and remarriage. | 1 Cor 7:11 | ItsMe | 161907
First, let me address the part "even if we ask for repentance..." - historically, and I think scripture backs it - divorce is the total disolving of the marriage. If one divorces on scriptural grounds, it is gone. You can remarry. Second, this does not give a free ride - but if you are a Christian, and your first marriage was before you were a Christian, you may not be bound by the same standards. We are held to higher standards than the world. I'm not really clear on what you are asking otherwise. Let me tell you this, if you are seeking His will, and are honest about it, He will show you what to do, in His timing. Also neither adultery nor divorce are unforgivable sins. Many people do it wrong. Marry wrong. Divorce wrong. Many people stay in marriages that they could get out of. Pray, read His word (it appears you are doing that), and honestly seek His will. Whatever you need revealed, will be revealed.
25 | Were do angels go when they die. | Matt 22:30 | ItsMe | 161695
Luke 20:36 - (similar to Matthew 2:30). "Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection." - "Neither can they die...for they are equal to angels" - so, I believe angels don't die. |

26 | WHY ARE KIDS STILL BEING BORN | Gen 4:1 | ItsMe | 161694
Because He didn't say it would happen that way. The story, and the ending, have already been told. We live, learn, and, hopefully, share Him. I can't imagine an earth without the miracle of birth. "This" world is ending. Be ready! |

27 | Did Eve hope she would be Jesus mother ? | Gen 4:1 | ItsMe | 161693
I have never found anything that said Eve hoped to be the mother of Christ. I think when people say, every since Adam, people have been waiting for a saviour - they just mean that people have always been waiting for their savior - not literally that Adam and Eve were waiting. People waited for a Messiah a long time. I don't think that "messiah" is mentioned until Daniel. Often savior was used for God - to come save them from some thing or situation. OK - Did I get off track here? |

28 | Is Cain Adams son? | Gen 4:1 | ItsMe | 161690
This is a new "translation" to me. 'greatly multiply thy sorry and thy conception' - means adding another baby? I think that is a little far out. I think conception was going to be painful and she might even wish she had not conceived (sorrow). Is there any source for your thinking this meant two babies? I looked up the Strongs reference and it translates to "he said I will greatly enlarge/increase thy pain, labour, hardship and thy physical conception or pregnancy in pain, hurt, hardship, thou shalt bring forth son, child, children." I don't get that she was given a second child. Thanks.
29 | is smoking a sin? | 1 Cor 6:12 | ItsMe | 161269
I had the original question up when I responded. I looked at the string, as I always do, afterwards, and saw it attached to yours. So I pulled up the original again, and sent it, and it attached correctly.
30 | God's Love | Eph 5:1 | ItsMe | 161262
If you pray, read His word, try to live like Christ, love starts coming quite naturally. I am surprised sometimes and how my feelings for certain people have changed - and I don't know when or why? I don't think we practice sacrificing for others. It just becomes a part of us. Someone told me once - remember JOY. Put Jesus (J) first, then others (O), and yourself (Y) last - and you will experience a joy you never thought possible. Pray each morning that God help you show His love that day. In no time at all you will realize He is answering that prayer.
31 | How do you forgive? | Prov 20:22 | ItsMe | 161260
First I've prayed for you. You have been hurt and by someone that should have been trusted. I've learned (I'm old so I've had lots of lessons in this life!) that forgiveness frees me, not the person that wronged me. The hurt is real. Pray for that person. Pray that God help you forgive them. Pray for God's release from this pain. I've had to walk up to a person, at one time and say, I forgive you. That shocked them. Like the other writers said, if Christ could go to that cross to forgive me, I will practice and work at forgiving others, until I die. As a human, you many never forget in this lifetime. When the memory comes to mind, sing a song of praise. Sometimes I have to sing out loud - Amazing Grace is good for me. It takes work to forgive. I'm praying you peace and strength.
32 | Freedom | 1 Cor 6:12 | ItsMe | 161259
My Freedom comes in my total commitment to Him. Doesn't that sound strange? Being totally bound to Him, gives me freedom? John 8:32 - You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free. (I capitalized). The more I know Him and about Him, the freer I am. I think there is no freedom in this world aside from this. We are always bound by others requirements, expectations, rules, laws, etc. When people say I am free can can do what I want - they are not free. And they aren't doing what they want. I've been there. I was following the way the world wanted me to be. Like the song says - "This is what it means to be free, this is what if feels to know that I am forgiven."
33 | is smoking a sin? | 1 Cor 6:12 | ItsMe | 161257
1 Corinthians 10:31 sums it up - "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." There are many verses about doing things that are harmful to our bodies (His temple). I can always go back to this one though - it's how I quit smoking. It wasn't hurting anybody but me - and then I realized - it did not glorify God, it took away from my witness. And bringing up the over eating issue - one wrong won't justify another. If I lie but I see my neighbor steal and I point that out - well, we are back to Matt 7:3 - Why do you see the splinter in your brothers eye but don't see the wooden beam in your own eye." If you have any concern over something you are doing - does it glorify God? Also, is the Holy Spirit trying to speak to you about the issue. I've found when I have asked - if it's wrong, let me know - I almost always feel His clarification quickly. Sometimes I almost hear Him say - "If you have to ask..." On the other hand, if you are asking about something being a sin, because someone else is doing it - remember the beam verse. Pray for them but don't point that finger. |

35 | can husband and wife be blessings | Prov 5:18 | ItsMe | 160962
This form asks that you put a scripture so I put that one - but it doesn't answer your question. I looked up blessing and one definition said "a special favor, benefit, gift from God". If your wife or husband fits that description - they may well be a blessing. If you consider them a blessing, if they make your life better, happier and help you to praise God and live for Him more, then I think they are a blessing. I think my spouse is a very special gift (blessing) from God.
36 | Loving our Lord | NT general Archive 1 | ItsMe | 160960
Deut 6:5: You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Then Jesus quoted it in Matt 22:37 - And He said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and all your soul, and with all your mind." The phrase, with all your heart, runs throughout the Bible. I take it to mean just loving Him completely. With all the love you can give. Some say, with every ounce of your being. I like that. If you don't feel like you do love the Lord that way, just pursue it. Tell Him that's what you want, and read His word. You will find yourself there without knowing how you got there! May God fill your heart until it is bursting with love for Him - He loves you that much. |

37 | Is belief in the bible needed to be save | NT general Archive 1 | ItsMe | 160959
Don't worry about joining a church. Just pray and read. If you read all the responses in this thread you might lean a little more toward the belief that the Bible is God's inspired word. You do not need it to get saved. I believe many people in remote areas have been saved without it. Many also would never have been if someone didn't share the word with them. I went through the late 50's -80's reading it, studying it, and doubting it. I had found Christ but there was so much bible I couldn't swallow. Somewhere I turned my perspective into really wanting to know. I somehow let go of all my arguments and proofs. Now, daily, I pray show me what you want me to get out of this portion of your word, or something similar, and I read. Often I feel Him very close. I have no doubt it is the word He wants me to be reading and when all else fails, I can find a truth in this word. Lee Stroebel's books helped me a lot too. He didn't believe in it at all. He proved himself wrong. God isn't offended if Hetfield is suggesting it, in honest desire to know the truth. If you put your faith in Christ and seek Him, He will lead you right back to the Bible. He has done it to me so many times. God bless you both in your pursuit. |

38 | Is belief in the bible needed to be save | NT general Archive 1 | ItsMe | 160949
I think the hang-up may be in the phrase, word of God. I grew up in churches that were legalistic too. That seems to have been the norm for many years. The denomination of my birth has changed a lot -praise God, and I'm back there. But, back to your comments. I think the Bible, all of it, the early scriptures and the later scriptures, were inspired by God. I don't think He uttered all that we read there. I think he inspired it. My husband questions why some of the books that were included in the earlier church have been removed. I don't know. I trust God that what I need is in this Book I love and read. If you honestly seek an answer, stay in it, and He will reveal the answer He has for you. God bless you. |

39 | Believing In Jesus | Bible general Archive 3 | ItsMe | 160948
NightJay, Thank you for sharing that. Your faith and love are fine. No matter what happens to your Grandmother, don't let that change. God uses illnesses too. My mother was the picture of health, still working outside the home in her late 70's. She had a series of strokes and heart attacks. Her body was useless but her mind still worked. For years she would cry to me, why doesn't God heal me. I could be doing so much for Him. That went on for over 3 years. The last 6 months or so, my mother praised God. Thanked Jesus for saving her, and my 40 year old brother. Who had been far away from God most of his adult life. We both believed that her illness had a direct link to his praying and converting. She was 84 when she died and the last 4 years were in a nursing home. I prayed constantly for God to heal her. God gave her the ultimate healing, which wasn't what I wanted. He has a plan and knows much more than I do. I'm adding you and your grandparents to my prayers. I hope God chooses to clear your Grandmother's mind. I'm glad it was clear enough to understand you. You have made her very happy and you will see her again some day with a new body and mind. God bless you. |

40 | Speaking in Tongue | Acts 2:4 | ItsMe | 160947
I was healed in this day and age. I had Lupus and I was becoming more and more crippled. I could give lots of details but that is not what this note is about. A woman I did not know asked me if she could pray for me. I thought of my mental list of people and situations that I was going to ask her to pray for and felt prompted to ask her to pray about my arthritic like pains. I was not about to tell a total stranger that I had the uncurable Lupus. She started praying and I found myself praying with her. Then I stood up, straight, and walked around. and praised God. Now, I too was not sure so I thought it was a temporary reprieve. Every morning for weeks I would wake expecting it to be another day when my legs did not want to work well or one of those days when they did not work at all, and each day I would get out of bed and say, thank You. Still thinking it was temporary. My doctor continued to run tests every 3 months for a couple of years, now she does them annually. She just chuckles with the results and tells me, no sign of Lupus and I say, I did not expect there would be. I am almost 60 and I have a little arthritis now. But I carry my 1 and 2 year old Grandchildren, often 2 at a time and I race with my older Grandsons, they beat me, and I climb trees. And praise God when I am up there. I think I am more active than most my age. I still work full time so I am not taking it easy. God healed me. I have no doubt. You do not know me so you do not have to believe it or understand it, but I believe in it now. Why me.. I do not know. I agree with you that many people will never speak in tongues and God can be just as close to them. It is a gift I did not want or expect and I received it. And many of my friends do not want it and that is OK. I may have received it because I doubted it so much. As you said, we are still members of a fellowship that goes beyond those things though. |
