41 | Speaking in Tongue | Acts 2:4 | ItsMe | 160941
Thank you. I hear people argue the speaking by using one of the Bible comments about it - you know, like - there has to be an interpreter. I know in Venezuela God truly blessed me and amazed a lot of other people! Thanks for your comments.
42 | Speaking in Tongue | Acts 2:4 | ItsMe | 160939
Sometimes when I pray I feel taken away from where I am - maybe on those occasions I do speak in tongues and maybe my mind is unfruitful - but I know my spirit is filled with joy. I'll admit sometimes when I pray I wonder how fruitful I am because "things" keep coming to mind and I wander. That is probably unfruitful - and yet, I feel God understands the situation.
43 | Speaking in Tongue | Acts 2:4 | ItsMe | 160938
I agree with translating. it's a difficult job and, as in many instances, God may initiate something and we let our human-ness take over. It's amazing that God gave a complete strange the wisdom and boldness to speak out. God is good!
44 | Speaking in Tongue | Acts 2:4 | ItsMe | 160758
I must have grown up in a church or environment that gave tongues a bad image. As an adult I met quite normal people who said they spoke in tongues. So, not to be prejudging I prayed that God would give me that gift if He wanted me to have it. I prayed about it a lot. I never felt that I spoke in a different language. I went on a mission trip to South America 2 years ago. In a large church we were asked if we would give a testimony and I was one ofthe volunteers. We had a wonderful Venezuelan man that traveled with us translating. He translated for the first 2 people that spoke. When I got to the front to speak, I found myself saying "me nobre is maria josefina"...and a lot more. The translator and I looked at each other and he started translating for my English speaking friends. I know that I told the people Jesus Christ was my best friend. I know I told them how lost I was before I met Him. How much God has blessed me. Only in Spanish. And I don't speak Spanish. My friends were amazed. A year later I told a pastor friend in my denomination and he said - God gave you the gift of tongues! He said that our denomination believed that speaking in tongues was when God gave you the gift to speak in another language to someone. I'm not defining it that narrowly though it was not a trivial experience. I was told by someone once that I was praying in another language. They didn't disturb me but that I was defintely not praying in English. So maybe there is a gift of praying just to Him in another special language. I do know I spoke fluent Spanish for quite awhile - and I don't know it still!
45 | unwed, 2 children, living w/their father | Gen 2:21 | ItsMe | 160756
Those verses imply one man for one woman for a lifetime. I truly sympathize with your situation. If you read your Bible, try to get closer to Him, He will let you know. The Bible does say obey the laws of the land so if you find yourself doing anything that isn't, don't do it (like taxes, or food stamps, etc.). Also, train up a child n the way they should go, what are your children learning from this? Those are just starters. I'm not preaching, trust me. Just answering.
46 | Repentant robber crucified with Christ | Luke 23:39 | ItsMe | 160726
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. In Matt 27, and Luke 23 it doesn't distinguish between a right or left side for the thief.
47 | What does a crocodile symbolize? | Lev 11:30 | ItsMe | 160720
Some people think the references to “leviathan” (Job 41:1), “behemoth” (Job 40:15, and dragons (many texts) are references to dinosaurs but most Bible scholars suggest that the descriptions in Job are of crocodiles or hippos. Both lived in the Near East in those days. I find no references of crocodiles in the Bible so don't know that they are symbolic of anything.

49 | Purgatory and Priest | Bible general Archive 3 | ItsMe | 160708
A Catholic friend told me Purgatory was created by an early pope (all leaders are not honest)to get money for the church. You could buy your loved ones out. Most Catholics don't believe it but when the rubber hits the road and your loved one dies - many will do whatever they can 'just in case'.
50 | The art of haggling :-) | Prov 20:14 | ItsMe | 160707
14 It's no good, it's no good says the buyer then off he goes and boasts about his purchase. 15 Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel. I think it is talking about how plentiful are the loud mouths like this one that put things down, then buy cheap (steal) - and yet lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel. (more rare than gold or rubies). |

54 | Christ waslking through hell | Not Specified | ItsMe | 160690
Does anyone know where the Bible says Christ walked through hell and that he forgave some people there. Someone asked me recently where this was and I can't find it. I know in the Apostles Creed we say he died and arose on the 3rd day - what was he doing during that time? Can anybody help me with this?

57 | heaven is perfect but we live on earth | Mark 10:21 | ItsMe | 160688
Being "poor" I can't afford to get my hair done, my nails done, or to be tanned. I make many of my clothes and my girls. That makes me feel good. God always provides what I need to sew. I know to him I am beautiful and this earth can look the other way. I think the money spent making yourself "beautiful" could be spent better.
58 | heaven is perfect but we live on earth | Mark 10:21 | ItsMe | 160687
I agree Doc. I think many of the verses you quoted show us that God is always in control and that anything that hits us - good or bad - comes as He allows. I have a friend suffering from cancer who said just this week, that to have pain and be able to witness for Him was a great joy and He gave her strength. Awesome!
