And your point? There are hundreds of books written to counter the great principals of scripture and help establish that their personal hang ups (sins) are just fine. people will go to extreme lengths to justify their actions. If it contradicts God's principals in scripture it is wrong. The so-called gay churches also argue that Jonathan and David were homosexual lovers because of the deep affection and love they had for one another. We have since perverted any affection between two men to mean they are homosexual. Timothy was Paul's son in the faith.********You said, "You won't like this answer, but there is an article and book that makes a circumstantial case that Paul was gay. Never married, not fond of women, urged others to adopt his lifestyle, and according to The Living Bible, personally circumsised Timothy, when Timothy was a young man. But who knows?"***** I say God knows. Besides who is going to circumsize themselves? Another thing how could this in anyway be viewed as a sexual excitement. After Joshua's men were circumcezed they were all healing up for three days. Circumcission was an act of consecration. |

Does this mean we should all worship the same?.... no I don't believe so. There are many stlyes but only one truth. We need to get back to basics. Agree on the essentials. 1 Corinthians 1 Divisions in the Church 10I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. 11My brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas[1] "; still another, "I follow Christ." 13Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into[2] the name of Paul? 14I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15so no one can say that you were baptized into my name. 16(Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.) ****** The Apostles' Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. [see Calvin] The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. |

You should find the folowing comments enlightening at the least.****** )******Gen 1:11 Then God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them"; and it was so. 2 Gen 1:12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.****** *******"The question to smoke pot or not to is a personal one. One between the Lord and each individual. Regardless of what each person believes in this regard, there is certainly no room for a Christian to judge another Christian on such a thing. Most of us know this, if not all of us. But what should we do if we choose to smoke pot? What I'm talking about is summed up in a situation whereby a friend of mine who had not long become a Christian did regarding the smoking of cigarettes. I was talking to him one day, expressing to him that although as far as Jesus' words on defilement were concerned the people judging him were the ones that are defiled, not him. Because out of them come judgments, which make them in turn stand for judgment. However, as most of us know, Jesus told us my friend was not defiling himself by what he puts into his body. He was so inspired that day, because a brother (me) had taken his side in a small country town, that didn't himslelf (me again) smoke tobacco. He was so inspired that he infact stood at the front steps to the church greeting everyone as he puffed away on his smoke. It's obvious he didn't make any new friends that day. What I'm getting at is that we must be careful to use our freedom as the appostle Paul said "to do good, not evil". The same appostle said in relation to meat sacrificed to idols, that he would eat meat never again if it stumbled a person of weaker faith. I don't think we need never smoke pot again, or cigarettes, to protect those with a weaker faith, but it might be prudent to keep things in their place. Not so much hiding it completely perhaps, but to be careful that we don't insult or upset our brothers or sisters that don't yet understand. Jesus said that the truth would set us free. So it stands to reason, that lies are what keeps us in bondage to beliefs that injure us. If anything, we ought to feel pity for those brothers and sisters that can't believe in a God that loves us beyond what food we eat, or clothes we wear, or what pot we smoke. They have been taught a lie, and have accordingly been trapped from knowing the fullness of the love of God, the finality of the cross, the end of the law for righteousness, to those that believe in Jesus. It's hard to be patient with church goers that petition for tougher drug penalties. I know. My first ever visit to a Christian church ended in a screaming match between the Pastor and I in the foyer of a rather large church. Beause I had gone to hear about God, and he had passed out a pre-typed letter, calling for harsher marijuana penalties. Although he was wrong in what he did, I too was wrong in my approach. Of Jesus they said in prophecy of his coming "a bruised reed he shall not break, and a smouldering flax he won't extinguish". And so we should be also, we should go careful and tread lightly on this subject, sympathetically understanding their ignorance is injuring them, far more than us. rob" ---rob ****Jeshuafreak writes--------- I find this man's comments enlightening.. Thought provoking.. and maybe a little inspiring.. This is an issue I am currently dealing with in my communty as well. Praises be to God the Creator of all things in heaven and on earth. http://www.geocities.com/kodaz.geo/marijuana4.htm *******A Discussion paper on Christian Recreational Marijuana usage. **"Introduction: Debating Christian usage of marijuana for recreation. This is not an issue that should be allowed to divide Christians. Hopefully, thinking individuals in the body of Christ will reach a consensus of thought on this matter. Knowing the that the 'way' for the Christian 'is narrow', it seems unlikely that more than one approach to this subject will fit on that way. Said another way: For the Lord to raise up 'two standards' (instead of one; Isa 59:19 ) on such an issue seems contrary to his character. He is not the author of confusion. Relativism or the toleration of opposing viewpoints is just not logical or consistent with the Kingdom of God. Therefore the onus is on the reader and participant to enter the debate cautiously and with solemnity. One should not be hasty in the presentation or rebuttal of arguments. There may be the tendency for readers and participants in the debate to 'write-off' opposing viewpoints as 'conservative' or 'liberal'. This approach may come from a desire to maintain the peace during times of disagreement, letting "by-gones be by-gones". Such an approach however, opens up the possibility of 'two standards' co-existing. Thus it is not satisfactory. The viewpoint (be it 'anti' or 'pro'), that establishes the 'standard' for the Christian, should be the one that is consistent with N.T principles and responds sensibly to all other viewpoint's arguments. We leave it up to the reader to determine which position (if any), is most successful in doing this. (To not address all arguments of the opposing point of view with logical and thoughtful responses while maintaining one's own position is foolishness. An individual who cannot commit themselves to this undertaking, should avoid reasoned Christian debate altogether.) One should say the things they believe wholeheartedly and feel that they can justify. As Christians, our 'yes' should be our 'yes' (Matt 5:37 ) and we should try to avoid 'foolish and vain disputations' (1Tim 6:20 and Col 2:8.) Such an approach saves time and stops obviously ridiculous things from being put on the table for discussion. Various arguments have been put forward by both sides in this debate, with rebuttals following from the opposing party. Below is a summary of these arguments and rebuttals. This debate is not a 'closed book'. Should any evidence or argument arise that not been included here, we most certainly welcome its inclusion. We also wish that the 'journey' to a single cohesive viewpoint be as pleasant as possible as well. ("How to win Friends and Influence People" type 'approaches' are most welcome!) As you will see, this debate is formatted in a similar fashion to a email discussion group. It is not a debate where formal language has be used or every bit of 'evidence' has a material reference. Colloquial and not academic, this discussion has progressed the way one would expect it might out 'on the street', albeit in a much slower pace. It relies somewhat on the 'knowledge', 'conjecture' and 'commonsense- logic' that exists inside people's heads today, rather than 'substantiated fact and reason'. Thus it offers a great chance to observe the way the 'common person on the street' deals with this subject." Edited by Daniel Kilpatrick. July, 2000 |

Thank you for your concise study on judging. This is defenently a sticky area for me. I have judged others wrongly and imposed my values on them. My values are not the same as morals, which are based on dogmatic truths in scripture. Values are based on ones own preferences. I like chocolate....and you need to like it too. OR I believe abortion is wrong...it is murder. This is based on the Word.

You wrote****** "i have to trust that G-d will allow me to express myself in ways other than sexual. what is great is that one of my greatest friends in the ministry is one who openly encourages people to express their homosexuality. we are at opposite ends of the pole. but we have found a way to let each other live out their values unhindered. the common ground is that we love the sinner and what them to know more of the love of G-d. Isn't that the point after all?" **** Now I comment. ****I believe that homosexuality is against God and His design. It is expressed as sin and not to be tolerated within the Christian comunity.... Now as far as it goes with the unregenerate and unsaved... We cannot disassociate with them on their lifestyle of sin. We are to be light and salt to them who are perishing. I would look up scripture for you but I don't have time right now. We are to speak up on issues that God sees as evil. We are not to be mamby pamby micro cosoms of the culture. BASE YOUR LIFE ON GOD"S WORD. and you will never be led astray |

I appreciate your view point. I also appreciate your illustration. Just as one should not drink and drive a preson should not drive under the influence of medications that have the ability of altering perception at high doses. A person can regulate the amount they ingest, inhale or digest. Pot has a bigger stigma on it than needs to be. The bad rap is from those who have had a prejudice towards it based on people who have abused it. In low doses , for some individuals, THC is very beneficial. Just as doctors prescribe medicine such as Paxil and Prozac for clinical depression.. Yes Christians can and do get clinically depressed and it is not because they are not seeking God or have unconfessed sin. Ultimately it is sin that has caused all disease and chemical imbalances. I view pot as a safer altenative to these other harmful man made drugs. I was on Ritalin and Adoral when I was a child . My grandma got me off of it because of its harmful side affects. As a adult and having had sufficient enough experience , both possitive and negative, in the area of pot use, I can see the benefit of this herb when used wisely and in small doses, through eating it instaed of smoking. Marijuana should be classified as an herb likened to St. John's Wort or Kava. There are many herbs whos properties give a relaxing affect or restore energy. Valerian root is a great sleep aid and stress reducer. My opinion is that Marijuanna has a stigma attached to it. Everyone has seen the propaganda film REEFER MADNESS or watched too many Cheech and Chong movies. I suggest EVERYONE DO THEIR HOMEWORK BEFORE criticizing something they don't understand. God has given us the wonderful versaltile plant to use. The seeds contain omega 3 fatty acids, can be preesed for oil for food or used for fuel. The fibrous stalk was once used for rope in this country, you ever heard of HEMP? It's the same plant. The leaves and buds can be made into a tea, or yes smoked. It is better to eat it or drink it in a tea than to smoke. My own dad is able to have it medicinally for his back, as well as a close friend of my wife. This comes down to preference. I did not grow up having a stigma against Marijuanna. It was and still is a usefull plant. Socity needs to take there head out of sand and stop prohibitiion of marijuanna. It puts people in prison unjustly, due to mandatory minimums. A person who rapes or a child molester is doing less time than one who grew a plant for their own use. Another reason to legalize is to cut out the blackmarket, and all the criminals who make tons of money because it is illegal. If it were legal the government could grow it sell it and tax it... but as it stands they make more money with it being illegal also. Are we going to make wine, beer and other forms of alcohol illegal again also? History proves that it doesn't work, people who are told they can't have something want it all the more. I know of people who gre up in families where the meal was accompanied with wine. Everybody drank it even the kids. There was no abuse of it because it was not abused by people in the family, this is very much common in old world families. I have to end this discussion ....THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH CONTRAVERSARY and it divides rather than edifys..... So this is Jeshuafreak signing out of this discussion. DON"T BE PREJUDICE AGAINST YOUR BROTHERS FOOD, DRINK, OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT THEY PUT IN THEIR BODIES...THEIR BODY IS NOT YOURS...DON'T PUT A HEAVEY YOKE ON THEM. READ SONG OF SONGS...****WE MUST ALL GIVE AN ACCOUNT TO GOD FOR OURSELVES AND WHAT WE DID IN THIS LIFE....WHO ARE YOU O'MAN THAT YOU SHOULD JUDGE YOUR BROTHER....LET EACH MAN BE CONVINCED IN HIS OWN CONSCIENCE...YOU DON'T KNOW MY INTENTIONS AND I DON'T KNOW YOURS...ONLY GOD SEES THE INTENTIONS OF OUR HEARTS..... AND BY THE WAY I DO AGREE WITH YOU THAT IT CAN BECOME IDOLATRY....ANYTHING CAN BECOME IDOLATRY... chocolate can become idolatry...if it becomes idolatry for you take it to Jesus He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He make all things to work together for those who love God and are the called according to His purpose. Gosd will even use our sins and fumbles. He loves us warts and all. Oh how easy it is to get wrapped up in legalism. So much easier to make a list of rules and check them all day instead of submitting our entire lives to God. It is a sad state of afairs when are the ones governing each others behavior, instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to work in each individual. We all have access to the same Word of God and the same Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ our Lord. So we all must search the scriptures ourselves and have the Lord illuminate our hearts and our minds to what He would have us to do.-Jeshuafreak
