21 | What did the disciples understand? | Mark 10:30 | Asis | 96717
Aixen7z4 Consider this: Part 1 fromthe book REVOLUTION by Gene Edwards writer and Home church proponent. "It was about 8:45 a.m. Peter began slowly. "Men and brethren, the people you see here are not drunk, as some of you are saying. It is not even 9 a.m. yet." This concluded Peter's entire planned message. But, even as he made this simple explanation, he noticed that the whole crowd was standing, expectant and silent, wanting some further word. At that moment a thought flashed through his mind. He had told them what all this was not. Why not tell them what it was! Peter proceeded. He began explaining exactly what had taken place in the upper room by quoting Joel, an ancient prophet. Little by little, Peter unraveled the seeming mystery of the morning's events. Again, he would have stopped, but by this time he was aware that the multitude was hanging on every word. Suddenly something broke in Peter. The message of Christ burst from him in a torrent. For one long moment everyone stood spellbound. His words struck like fully bowed arrows. Suddenly someone from the vast crowd shouted out, half yelling, half crying, "What must we do to be saved?" The Holy Spirit, so new in His work upon the earth, had moved throughout the entire multitude. There was no one in that throng who had ever had an experience like this, the experience of being convicted of sin by the Holy Spirit. Peter quickly ended his talk. His finish was just as unplanned as his beginning. In one short thunderous sentence that was heard the length and breadth of the whole temple area,Peter roared the answer: "Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ!" That was all. Instantly, the other eleven sensed that more should be done. They began moving among the people, exhorting, proclaiming, explaining, declaring, and answering questions in all languages. After all, in a crowd this vast Peter's words could not have been clearly understood by all. Each of the eleven took up a spot in the crowd and began answering questions and proclaiming Christ. As it turned out, all of the twelve shared in the experience of declaring Christ to the limitless throng. Until now, there had been only one type of follower of Christ: there had been 120 believers in the upper room. But as the eleven moved out into the crowd something new happened. Now twelve of the 120 were unique. Now there were 108 disciples and twelve Apostles. The first office in the church was now fully born and fully operating! As the twelve Apostles proclaimed the Gospel to the thousands of people in the street, the festival was forgotten. The people turned to hear the Apostle nearest them. They were deeply moved. It was evident that God had endowed twelve men with great power: hundreds were being saved through their corporate witness. By the time evening came, some three thousand people had marched together out of the city gates, down to the Kidron River and been baptized. (It is possible the site might have been in the city at one of the pools ... perhaps the Pool of Bethesda.) It was a wonderful, glorious day, a day of praise, and a day of great joy. There had never been a day quite like it in all of human history. The Holy Spirit had descended from heaven, something heavenly had come to earth. The church had been born in 120 believers. Apostleship had been established. The church had grown, in its first day, from 120 to about 3,120. The day of Pentecost is over. Tomorrow is the second day in church history. Tomorrow is the first day the church meets. In a few hours now, the temple grounds will be filling up with 3,000 new converts. Monday. The real beginning of the practice of the church. The twelve Apostles will go out and join that meeting. What will they say? What are their plans? Undoubtedly, the twelve men must have, though there is no record of it, gotten together to figure out the answer to that question. If they did get together for such a meeting, the results must have been quite an eye opener! The problems they face are so gigantic they almost defy understanding. Sunday had its glory; Monday has its problems! |

22 | Eph. 3:14 the prayer for a mature church | Eph 3:14 | Asis | 96455
Ephes. 3:14-19 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, [15] Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, [16] That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; [17] That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, [18] May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; [19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. [KJV] Greetings Mae1509 Your question is some what hard to understand. Could you expand on what it is you are asking in regards to the above scriptures. Please be specific. I think then you will get many more responses to your post. Asis |

23 | As you say, "there is nowhere in scriptu | 1 Thess 5:21 | Asis | 96436
Radioman2 To my knowledge there is NO ONE "SEEKING for the Holy Spirit and EXPECTING TO RECEIVE TONGUES as the sign that He's come." Those who are seeking are looking to fill a void they have within themselves. Those who have found are trying to stay in Him 24/7, Some try to fill the void with drugs, some with drink, some with play, some with sex, and some with religion. They will find that the only way to fill the void that they are seeking to fill is through the Lordship of our Messiah Jesus Christ. The answer to any question is Not to be found in a thrill or a sign but in the Saviour. In the truth that is found plainly stated in God's word. Jesus wants relationship. It was enough in the past and it is enough now. Jesus, the living word . . . the same yesterday, today, and forever. If there are those who are seeking the Holy Spirit we need to lead them to Jesus. For it is only through Him that they will obtain what they seek. If they are already believers in Jesus and are seeking the Baptism of the (or in the) Holy Spirit, then we should lay hands on them and believe together that they receive that which is a gift from God. You see Radioman2 if we as teachers and pastors and evangilists and prophets and apostles are aware of any misunderstanding by the saints of God's word it is up to us to equip them for the ministry which God has for them. How do we go about that you might ask. We who are vessels of clay filled with the Spirit of God must allow ourselves to be used as intruments of righteousness. In plain words . . . God has given us the gift of the teacher. We each have our own unique personalities received from God that allows us to touch people in a special way. But if WE use those talents which God has given us then it is us who do the work and WE must convince others of our message. God wants US to be completely yielded to Him where He uses US to convey His message. In this way that message will Go out with power and will be received as truth. "My word will not return void" |

24 | who should speak in tounges? | 1 Cor 14:22 | Asis | 96418
rhy The tongues referred to in this verse is the tongue given with the expectation of an interpretation (1 Cor 12:10). In the church that I attend, an Assemblies of God church, when a message in tongues in given the whole church stops what it is doing and becomes silent. The non believer in the congregation is listening to the voice speaking in a language that cannot be understood and observing the actions of the congregation. The congregation is praying for an interpretation of the message in tongues and waiting expectantly for that message. The interpretation of the message is given in the language of the congregation. The non believer sees the unknown tongue and the interpretation as a sign from God. The believer sees the interpretation as a message from the lips of God. It is akin to prophecy. "This is supernatural utterance in the native tongue (1 Cor. 14:3). It is a miracle of divine utterance, not conceived by human thought or reasoning (Acts 3:21; Acts 11:28; Acts 21:11; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Cor. 14:23-32). It includes speaking to people to edification, and exhortation and comfort (1 Cor. 14:3).(Dakes Annotated Bible)" The whole experience is a sign to the non believer that GOD IS. To the believer the understandable message is one of edification. The gift of "tongues with interpretation" is a gift of the Holy Spirit. I THINK that a nonbeliever would not be willing to be used by the Holy Spirit in susch a way. The person whose mouth is speaking the words is not comprising the message. The Spirit of God is using the mouth, of a willing participant, to speak His Words. First in a language we don't understand and second in one we do. On the other hand, My God can do anything. This gift is for believers. I hope this answers your question. Asis |

25 | Where in Acts do you find individuals... | 1 Thess 5:21 | Asis | 96411
Radioman2 As you know there is nowhere in scripture that an individual SEEKS the Holy Spirit and there is also nowhere in scripture where an individual is expecting to speak in tongues as evidence that He has come. BUT if you want evidence of individuals seeking the BAPTISM of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of that BAPTISM being speaking with other tongues, that can be found in scripture. |

26 | His Yoke? | Matt 11:29 | Asis | 95678
In the time of Jesus people carried their burdens by the use of a yoke. A piece of wood carved to fit the shoulders evenly and comfortabley. The burdens were suspended from each end of the yoke. See Jesus didn't say take the yoke of the oxen upon you He said take my yoke. What could He have been carrying upon His yoke? New American Standard Bible Isa. 9:6 through Isa. 9:7 (NASB) 6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this. The government the rule the dominion of God is upon His shoulders. His yoke. When you let Jesus govern, rule, have dominion over your life then you will enter into His rest. Jesus wants us to submit to His authority and let Him rule our lives. Anything that we do of our own is not pleasing to God. We are to be His instruments of righteousness. By the way an instrument is something that is played by another not by itself. |

Hank I prefer a scholar in the language to be translated rather than a theologian. One or many the better the translator is aquainted with all the idiosyncrasies of a language the better they are able to give a translation accurate to the indended meaning of the written word. Such as Kittel (although I don't think he wrote a translation) or Bullinger. I would like an accurate history of the events which prompted the letters written by the New Testament writers. So we could look at the letters in the context to the situations they were addressing in the eklessia they were written to. Asis |

31 | What did Jesus mean by this | Mark 9:23 | Asis | 91475
Good Evening Ken Jesus was stating the power of faith. Even a faith as a mustard seed, which is a very small seed, is capable of doing whatever we say. We can speak to our troubles in faith and see them move. Faith even mustard seed faith can move mountains. Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. [KJV] Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. [KJV] Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. [KJV] Mark 11:22-24 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. [23] For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. [24] Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. [KJV] Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. [KJV] John 14:12-15 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. [13] And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. [14] If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. [15] If ye love me, keep my commandments. [KJV] John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. [KJV] John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. [KJV] The reality of wonder-working faith is that our hearts are after Jesus so our words are according to our love for Him. It is not about selfish things it is about asking for God things. 33 | what is the gift of Moses? | Lev 14:4 | Asis | 89757
Title: Barnes’ Notes on the New Testament Author: Barnes, Albert See thou tell no man—This command is to be understood as extending only to the time until he had made the proper representation to the priest. It was his duty to hasten to him immediately Lev. 14:2 (2“This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing. Now he shall be brought to the priest,) ; not to delay by talking about it, but, as the first thing, to obey the laws of God, and make proper acknowledgments to him by an offering. The place where this cure was performed was in Galilee, a distance of 40 or 50 miles from Jerusalem; and it was his duty to make haste to the residence of the priest, and obtain his sanction to the reality of the cure. Perhaps, also, Christ was apprehensive that the report would go “before” the man if he delayed, and the priest, through opposition to Jesus, might pronounce it an imposition. And offer the gift that Moses commanded—That Moses directed to be offered by a leper when he was cured. That gift consisted of “two birds alive and clean, cedar-wood, scarlet, and hyssop,” Lev. 14:4. For a testimony unto them—Not to the priest, but to the people. Show thyself to the priest, and get his testimony to the reality of the cure, as a proof to the people that the healing is genuine. It was necessary that he should have that testimony before he could be received to the congregation or allowed to mingle with the people. Having this, he would be, of course, restored to the privileges of social and religious life, and the proof of the miracle, to the people, would be put beyond a doubt. I hope this answers your question. It shows that Jesus indeed did not abolish the Law but was the fulfillment of it. |

34 | What about the Temple, Veil after Jesus | Bible general Archive 1 | Asis | 88266
Welcome grayds First the Judaizers were believers in Christ who felt that all believers should practice the Jewish traditions in order to really be a believer. Those Jews who did not believe that Jesus was the a Messiah continued to practice Judaism as if nothing had happened and continue to do so today. Jesus did not abolish the Law He fulfilled it. Jesus is the Word of God made flesh. The word of God is the Law. It spoke about Jesus, and He is the fulfillment of everything the Word of God was trying to make us, if we followed it. Judaism is practiced today minus the sacrifices just as it was practiced at the time of Christ. The Jews are an active participant in the work of God for the return of Christ. Did they sew the veil back together? A very good question. I really don't know. My best guess would be that they probably did. I hope this helps you. Asis |

35 | Still an adulteress if I marry again? | Rom 3:22 | Asis | 87920
If you repent of your actions and believe God you will be His righteousness (Romans 3:21-22 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; [22] Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ UNTO ALL AND UPON ALL THEM THAT BELIEVE:(emphasis mine) for there is no difference: [KJV]) If we confess our sins He is quick to forgive and forget them. This does not give us free reign to commit sins. If we believe God, we do our utmost to do what He tells us to do. Sin not. John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. [KJV] It is a matter of the heart. You cannot hide what you truly think from God. If you have repented of your actions then He knows it. If your just going through the actions He knows this also. If I have stolen does this make me a thief for all eternity. Maybe in the eyes of man, but not in the eyes of God if I believe Him. |

36 | Active Homosexuals: Truly Christian? | Rom 1:21 | Asis | 87915
Greetings Hank: Do you ever commit sin? Have you ever had a temptation come upon you that you gave in to. Did you eventually have the victory over that particular temptation. Sometimes it takes some time before God has renewed our minds where we can stand on His word and have complete victory over a stronghold in our life. Until we realize who we are in Christ and have the experience of His power we waffle around sin. Did you instantly follow ALL of God's commandments and statutes when you asked Jesus into your heart. What makes us a follower of Christ. If we follow Him then we cannot willfully commit sin. That means intend, plan, commit on purpose a sin, not give in to temptation. It is through experience that we learn that what God has said He means. Faith in Him, trust in Him, we must exercise it to have the victory over our strongholds. The question appears to really be if I commit sin am I a follower of Christ. My answer is it is a matter of the heart. God knows my heart and He knows my intent. He forgives me when I miss the mark and He knows that I have repented never to miss the mark again. (Until I slip the next time) Romans 3:9 What then? are we better than they? . . . Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. [KJV] Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. [KJV] Romans 5:12-13 Romans 5:20-6:2 Romans 6:6-7 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. [7] For he that is dead is freed from sin. [KJV] Romans 6:10-18 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. [11] Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. [12] Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. [13] Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. [14] For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. [15] What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. [16] Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? [17] But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. [18] Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. [KJV] Romans 6:20 Romans 6:22-23 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. [23] For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. [KJV] Romans 7:7-9 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. [8] But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. [9] For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. [KJV] Romans 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. [KJV] Romans 7:13-14 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. [14] For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. [KJV] Romans 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [KJV] Romans 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [KJV] Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. [KJV] Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. [KJV] Romans 8:2-3 Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. [KJV] Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. What really matters is that at the day of accounting our name is found in the book. We must tell others of the good news in Jesus so they have a choice. The choice is to NOT sin against God. God is asking the world to believe Him and follow Jesus. When we choose to not follow we sin against God. What is meant by "under grace"? |
