201 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | Praise Be To God | 133219
Hi, Angel. No, I am not an unbeliever. (Remember my "Spiritual Dilemma" post?) I have been saved for 13-1/2 glorious years. But, the event of my prayer being answered happened BEFORE I WAS SAVED, I prayed to God and He answered my prayer. I did not know the Bible or scriptures which say, " If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me" All I knew was that my husband, myself and our three daughters and baby son were going to be put out on the street in one week! I sought God and He answered. I knew a little about God and yes, I believed in Him, but I thought my life had been such a shambles that He would not want me. After that prayer, we even went to church one time, and LIKED IT!!! But we didn't keep up with it. The house we moved into, the lady next door was a Christian and she was constantly trying to draw me to the Lord. If only we had listened back then. If only we would have let the Lord into our lives back then, I would not be divorced now and my children would have BOTH PARENTS together. But, alas, my ex-husband is completely lost, and I do pray for him. I did not actually come to the Lord until our divorce. God used that to bring me to Him. PRAISE GOD!!! Janae. |

202 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | Praise Be To God | 133187
Yes, I agree with you that the only prayer WE KNOW God hears from the unbeliever is the prayer of salvation. But, God can do anything. He can even answer the prayer of an unbeliever, and I know He answered mine. Janae. |

203 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Matt 5:45 | Praise Be To God | 133180
Thank you for your response. I would like to point out that, while unbelievers may get houses and cars all the time, this particular instance, the unbeliever was me, and I know in my heart of hearts that God had answered my prayer, and that we got that house by no other means than by God's hand. It was a tremendous witness to me at the time, and I will never forget it. That He took the time to hear me and was concerned about my wellbeing--and the wellbeing of my young family--which, of course, He is! He gave His Son to die for the sinners! Personally, I think the scripture I have given, is a good scriptural example for this. But, I also hope to see even more examples from others. God bless you. Janae. |

204 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Matt 5:45 | Praise Be To God | 133174
The answer is Yes! For God is Perfect. He maketh it to rain on the just and the unjust. (See scripture above). I can testify to this, because before I was saved, and while I was living a very unholy life of which I am not proud, our lease was up on the house we lived in and the owners asked us to vacate. We had one week. I got down on my knees in one of the rooms of our home and prayed earnestly to God and asked Him to find us a place to live. That very next week we were all moved into a beautiful home in a small town nearby, where some Christians that my husband worked with, lived. God had moved on my request and had found us a home and Christian friends to go with it! Praise Be To God! We serve a mighty God! A glorious God!!! I will never forget what God did for us. I don't even know all of the things He did for us before I was saved, but I can look back now and see He had His hand on us all along! He is so AWESOME! God bless you for asking this question! 205 | Psalm 19 | Ps 19:1 | Praise Be To God | 133171
I do not know what this person was trying to tell you, but here is what the commentary in my Full Life Study Bible says about Psalm 19. Maybe you can glean some insight from this: "19:1 THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD. The Judeo-Christian view is that the physical world declares God's glory and creative power (cf. 148:3-5; cf. Rom. 1:18-20). The view of many unbelievers, in contrast, is that the creation itself is a divine entity (see Deut. 4:19; 2 Ki. 23:5), with a force that controls human destiny (see Is. 47:13; Dan. 4:7); others believe that it came about by chance. The true believer rejects these views, accepts the Scriptural revelation about the universe, and is thus moved to praise the Maker (see Psalm 89:5-8). 19:7-11 THE LAW OF THE LORD IS PERFECT. These verses speak of the nature, benefits and value of God's law and word. The five facets are (1) "The law" - a general term for God's revealed will, which directs a person in a right relation to Him (v.7). (2) "The testimony" - God's true word which testifies to His character and will (cf. I John 5:9), the study of which makes us wise (v.7). (3) "The statutes - definite rules concerning righteous living that are a joy to the godly (v.8). (4) "The commandments" - the authoritative source of guiding light for the faithful who seek His way (v.8; cf. Acts 26:18); the proper response to God's commandmant is the "fear of the Lord," which brings freedom from a life of sin (v.9). (5) "The judgments" - laws governing social life, which lead to justice and righteousness (v.9). 19:12 CLEANSE THOU ME FROM SECRET FAULTS. Sincere believers endeavor to love and serve God with all their heart (Deut. 6:5). Because they are still imperfect in this life, however, they may fall short of God's will without knowing it and thus need to seek God's forgiveness for their errors and hidden faults (see Lev. 5:2-4). On the other hand, presumptuous or willful sins are a "great transgression" (v.13) that involve despising God and His word and the loss of a place in His kingdom (see Num. 15:30-31; Gal. 5:19-21). 19:14 MY MOUTH . . . HEART, BE ACCEPTABLE IN THY SIGHT. The proper response to the work of salvation in our lives is a constant prayer that God will keep our hearts, words, and lives free from sin and pleasing to Him. Both the meditation of our hearts and the reflection of our minds should be acceptable to God." God bless you, dear, I hope this helps. Janae. |

206 | Why did the Savior Dread the Cup? | Matt 26:38 | Praise Be To God | 133166
Did you see "The Passion of the Christ"? I think that shows clearly what Jesus had before Him (although it does not adequately describe his experience on the cross, for we cannot actually feel the pain he suffered). I believe that is the "cup" He was referring to; certainly He would not be referring to the act of saving the world from their sins, for that is why he was born into this world. He came willingly, to do the Father's will. But it was not an easy cup to drink. He did what no other could do. Remember, he prayed, "Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." Here is what the commentary in my Bible ("The Full Life Study Bible") says about this: Matthew 26:39 LET THIS CUP PASS. What Christ meant by "this cup" has been the subject of much discussion. (1) It is doubtful that Christ was praying to be saved from physical death, for He had resolutely set Himself to die for the sin of mankind (Mark 10:33-34; Luke 9:51; John 12:24, 27; Heb 10:5-9). It is more probable that He was praying to be delivered from the punishment of separation from God, the ultimate penalty for sin. Christ prayed that His physical death might be accepted as full payment for the sin of sinners. However, he prayed, "nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt." He then committed Himself to undergo both physical death and spiritual separation from His heavenly Father in order to achieve our salvation (Matthew 27:46). His prayer was "heard," for He was strengthened by His Father to drink the appointed cup (see Heb. 5:7). Hope this helps. Janae. |

208 | Spiritual dilemma | James 5:9 | Praise Be To God | 133128
You have both given me good advice. And I will continue to love my brother and to show him love, despite his mistakes. What angered me about him when he was preaching was that he put God down on man's level. He did not treat God with respect and his words were demeaning to God. I almost walked out several times, and perhaps I should have to get his attention that something was wrong. The church did split over this man, but it happened AFTER I left, so I was not involved (I thank God for that mercy!), and I have always been friendly toward him and he probably even thinks I would have been one to vote FOR him, in all honesty. That is why I felt I was betraying my own feelings to be so friendly to him, but God's command is to love one another, so that is what I have done, and will continue to do, as you have confirmed that I have been doing the right thing all along. Thank you for your kind help. Janae. |

209 | how did st. paul die? | Phil 4:4 | Praise Be To God | 133126
Here is the answer I got from a respectable and reliable source, BBN Radio. Thank you. Dear Janae, Thanks for your question about how the Apostle Paul was executed. We gain some light on it from his statement in Second Timothy 4:6 "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand." A very good commentary, Jamieson, Fawcette, and Brown says of this of Paul's statement here: "2Ti 4:6. Greek, "For I am already being offered"; literally, as a libation; appropriate to the shedding of his blood. Every sacrifice began with an initiatory libation on the victim's head (compare Note, see on JFB for Php 2:17). A motive to stimulate Timothy to faithfulness--the departure and final blessedness of Paul; it is the end that crowns the work. As the time of his departure was indicated to Peter, so to Paul (2Pe 1:14)." Their note on Phillipians 2:17 says, "I be offered--rather as Greek, "I am poured out." "I am made a libation." Present, not future, as the danger is threatening him now. As in sacrifices libations of wine were "poured upon" the offerings, so he represents his Philippian converts, offered through faith (or else their faith itself), as the sacrifice, and his blood as the libation "poured upon" it (compare Ro 15:16; 2Ti 4:6)." Remember, Paul had Roman citizenship, and as such the law required he be treated with the respect given to a citizen of Rome. Crucifixation would not be permitted, neither would the cruel pracice of tie a human being to a post and pour tar on the person and lighting it to consume the person, or the equally cruel practice of tying the person in a sack and having wild animals devour the person in an arena. Beheading was considered a more "merciful" and thus more fitting execution for a Roman citizen. I hope that helps you, Janae. Thanks for your question. 210 | Spiritual dilemma | Not Specified | Praise Be To God | 133075
I was a member of the church where I was saved for 11-1/2 years, until I moved out of the area and changed churches. The original pastor retired and a new pastor was chosen. The person who was the new pastor of my old church was voted out after I left and I was not involved in the voting, although, I would have voted him out also. That pastor sometimes visits my new church and always gives me a big hug and is very friendly toward me. This does not sit well with my spirit, because I do not agree with a lot of his teachings and his ways (a lot of people felt he was a false prophet). My question is this: Should I continue to be friendly toward him, or should I avoid him, or should I let him know how I feel inside? We are commanded to love our neighbor, so I don't know what is right. I feel as if I am living a lie and I don't like that feeling, but maybe I need to put my feelings aside and show him love anyway? What is right?

Also Ezekiel 28:13-19: 13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. 18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. 19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. |

215 | Discerning supernatural effects? | Heb 5:14 | Praise Be To God | 133060
I would say you need to look at who is doing it, or who it is done to. The Holy Spirit will be the one to tell us what is from God and what is not of God. But you must be walking in the Spirit and sensitive to the Spirit. Pray and ask God to give you the gift of discernment. The Holy Spirit will guide you. It is impossible to tell the difference if you are operating in the flesh. In fact, you are likely to be fooled if you are in the flesh. Matthew 24:24 "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." |

218 | Are miracles for today? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Praise Be To God | 133035
Yes, they are. The MIRACLE of salvation; the MIRACLE of healing, to name by two. I have been saved from hell and destruction by Jesus Christ's Holy Blood which was shed at Calvary. You cannot deny the miracle of salvation. As for the miracle of healing, I am here to testify that I had been having terrible pain in my hips for years, and could barely walk sometimes. One Sunday morning, recently, our pastor told us if we needed a healing to come and be prayed for by our prayer team. That morning, I almost did not go to church because I was in such pain, but I went forward for prayer. Ever since that prayer, I have had no pain; and I no longer walk with a limp. I praise God every day that I was (and we all were) healed at Calvary. We just need to receive it. Janae. |

Luke 12:49-50 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! I have always been taught that the Holy Spirit was a "fire". In fact, some denominations depict the Holy Spirit by a flame. Janae. |

220 | diff "baptized Holy Spirit" "filled Holy | Eph 5:18 | Praise Be To God | 132946
I would just like to add to the note from the commentary in my Bible, "The Full Life Study Bible," KJV, for Ephesians 5:18: Ephesians 5:18: FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT. Be "filled" (present passive imperative) carries the meaning in Greek of "repeatedly being filled." The spiritual life of the child of God must experience constant renewal by repeatedly being filled with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 3:14-19: "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." Ephesians 4:22-24: "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;" Romans 12:2: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (1) The Christian is to be baptized in the Holy Spirit after conversion, (Acts 1:5: "For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence." and Acts 2:4: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.") yet he is to be filled with the Holy Spirit repeatedly for worship, service, and witness. (2) One experiences repeated fillings with the Holy Spirit by maintaining a living faith in Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:5: "He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law; or by the hearing of faith?"), being filled with God's Word (Colossians 3:16: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."), praying, giving thanks and singing to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19-20: "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"; I Corinthians 14:15: "What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also; I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also."), serving others (Ephesians 5:21: "Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God") and doing what the Holy Spirit desires (Ephesians 4:30: "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption"; Rom 8:1-14; Gal. 5:16; I Thes. 5:19) (3) Several results of being filled with the Holy Spirit are noted here (a) speaking with joy to God in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19), (b) giving thanks (Ephesians 5:20: "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ", and (c) submitting to one another (Ephesians 5:21). Thank you. Janae |
