Hank, My view is that Jesus' atoning death was complete and adequate for redeeming the whole person--spirit, soul, and body. As sin and sickness have become the twin giants designed by Satan to destroy us, so forgiveness and healing are joined as twin blessings designed by God to redeem us and make us whole (Ps. 103:3; Jas. 5:14-16). The believer should press on in humility and faith to possess the full provision of Christ's atonement, including the healing of the body. I would be grateful to know which statements you feel are incongruous and conflicting statements that I have posted regarding the relationship between spiritual healing and physical healing. Thank you. Janae. |

Wouldn't know; haven't read it. But, you should mind your manners. I don't put down your beliefs, and you shouldn't put down mine. I thought we were to exchange ideas, not be dogmatic on this board. Some people take all the fun out of discussing the Word of God. I hope you are not one of them. Janae. |

The problem of sickness and disease is intertwined with the problem of sin and death--i.e., the consequences of the fall. Whereas medical science views the causes of sickness and disease in physiological or psychosomatic terms, the Bible presents spiritual causes as the underlying or basic problem. These are twofold (a) sin, which has affected our spiritual and physical makeup (John 5:5, 14), and (b) Satan (Acts 10:38; cf. Mark 9:17, 20, 25; Luke 13-11; Acts 9:11-12). |

Dear Kalos, I am not a KJV radical, but I do prefer that version. Here's an exercise for you. Look up Matthew 18:11 in the NIV and tell me what it says. Blessings, Janae |

Dear Hank, First of all, let me say how sorry I am that you and your wife lost your precious son. I know that must be the most painful experience anyone can have. But, your beloved son is with Jesus now, waiting for his parents and loved ones to be with him. That is the glorious blessed hope we have in Christ Jesus. ALL PRAISE AND GLORY BE UNTO GOD!!! I pray you will see that I am coming to you in love. When I said you were not giving God credit for divine healing, I was referring to the Scripture of Isaiah 53:5, about which you said it was only talking about spiritual healing there. That is where I disagree, for I believe Isaiah 53:5 is also talking about physical healing. This healing refers to salvation with all its benefits, spiritual and physical. Sickness and disease are the result of the fall and Satan's activity in the world. "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil" (I John 3:8). Christ gave gifts of healing to His church (I Cor. 12:9) and commanded His followers to heal the sick as part of their proclamation of the kingdom of God (Luke 9:1-2, 6; 10:1, 8-9, 19). Well, I am going to end now. I pray you have a blessed day. Love in Christ Jesus, Janae |

Greetings, Kalos! I don't understand why you have brought this into the discussion. Everyone knows, or should realize, that whether a healing occurs or not is entirely up to God. Blessings, Janae |

Dear CDBJ: Your note made me chuckle. No, I do not think that I am special because God chose to heal me. I am very humbled by my healing and grateful to God that he looked down upon this poor miserable wretch and took mercy upon me and healed me of a debilitating disease. ALL PRAISE AND GLORY BE UNTO GOD!!! GOD IS GRACIOUS AND FULL OF MERCY, PRAISE HIS GLORIOUS, MIGHTY NAME!!! I did not say I was special. God is no respecter of persons. I merely related my healing to illustrate that I was claiming my healing and not letting Satan take it away from me, since the original question was regarding "claiming things in your life." All blessings be unto you, my friend, Love in Christ Jesus, Janae |

Dear Doc, Take a look at Matthew 9:1-8, please: 1 And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. 2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. 3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? 6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. 7 And he arose, and departed to his house. 8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men. I did not take Isaiah 53:5 out of context. This healing refers to salvation with all its benefits, spiritual and physical. Sickness and disease are the result of the fall and Satan's activity in the world. "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil." (I John 3:8) Christ gave gifts of healing to His church (I Cor. 12:9) and commanded His followers to heal the sick as part of their proclamation of the kingdom of God (Luke 9:1-2,6; 10:1, 8-9,19). "Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases." Signs following those who believe: "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." (Mark 16:17-18). The Scriptures clearly teach that it is the desire of Christ for His followers to perform miraculous deeds as they announce the gospel of the kingdom of God. These signs, performed by true disciples, confirm that the gospel message is genuine, that the kingdom of God has come to earth in power, and that the living and risen Jesus is present with His people and working through them. BUT IT IS THROUGH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT THESE MIRACLES ARE PERFORMED. Love in Christ Jesus, Janae |

Whew! For a minute there, I thought you thought I was one of those who subscribe to "name it and claim it". As I said, I have heard of that false theology, but never really knew exactly what it was before, except for what the name brings to mind. That's bizarre. That is denying the One True God and making yourself into a god. Janae |

We pray and ask God to bring them back, and if it is His will, he brings them back. I don't know why you are attacking me. I don't do the work--God does it, if it is His will. Seems to me we are saying the same thing in a different way.
195 | claiming things in your life | Is 53:5 | Praise Be To God | 135909
I disagree. You are not giving God credit for divine healing, which can be claimed through this scripture. Also, we are to decree, declare and proclaim God's Word. God's Word. Not just any words or anything we might desire. God's promises. God's Word is true, and everything else is subject to change by that Word. I live it every day. I want everything God has for me. I take offense that you think I belong to the false teaching of "name it and claim it." Far from it. I claim the promises God has for me (and everyone who believes) in His Word--one of which is divine healing. Pardon the personal illustration, but I speak from experience. The doctor told me I had arthritis and last year, I had a couple of bad spells where I could not even walk. However, a couple of months ago I got prayed for and God healed me. He took away that arthritis, and all the pain that went with it. I was in terrible pain prior to being prayed for, and walked with a pronounced limp--but ever since that prayer, I have had pain just one time, and that was Satan trying to make me claim that arthritis back into my life. But, I didn't listen to him. I continued to claim my healing and to this day, I have been pain free and I walk without a limp now. I would be interested to know the denomination to which you belong. Have you seen the dead raised to life? My friend is a missionary and she has seen it. Also, a pastor friend of mine has seen it. I have not seen it, but I believe it. How about you? Do you belive the physically dead can be raised to life?
196 | How do you achive Santification | 2 Thess 2:13 | Praise Be To God | 135866

Some people believe that we receive what we speak, so are careful in choosing the words they use so they do not claim things into their lives which would harm them. For example, to say that one has a disease instead of claiming that they are and were healed at Calvary, and claiming that healing into their life. Janae |

198 | Why did Adam eat the apple too? | Gen 3:6 | Praise Be To God | 135601
Gen. 3:17: "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of they life." The Word of God says it is because he hearkened unto the voice of his wife. Praise Be To God! Janae |

199 | Is inter cultural marriage advisable? | 2 Cor 6:14 | Praise Be To God | 133224
Hello. God told the Children of Israel not to intermarry because He knew they would be led away by their idols. In fact, God forbade intermarriage with the other peoples. But, did Israel obey? Time and again, they disobeyed and time and again, they were led away from God to worship the idols of that nation. And time and again, they came back to God, only to be led away again. God never changes. He is the same today and forever. He wants us to marry Believers: In I Corinthians 7:8-16, Paul gives us some insight into what God wants for us, but Paul is speaking to Believers: "I say therefore, to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry, for it is better to marry than to burn. And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now they are holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases; but God hath called us to peace. For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband: or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? But as God has distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches." So, if we are already married, but one becomes saved and the other does not, you are not to leave the unsaved partner, for the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now they are holy. But, we are not to marry an unbeliever if we are a believer. 2 Corinthians 6:14 (above) makes that very plain: "Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?" But, there is nowhere in the Bible which says we are not to intermarry culturally, as long as that person is a Believer. That is the key. Ruth was from Moab, but she followed Naomi's God, and was King David's Great-grandmother, and in the earthly lineage of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Blessings to you. Janae. |

200 | Spiritual dilemma | James 5:9 | Praise Be To God | 133220
Hi, Angel. My full maiden name is Janae DeLair, and it is French-Canadian. Thank you for asking. In regard to the topic, the Lord brought to mind the scripture about the tares: Matthew 13:30: Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn." And also, last night, He gave me this scripture: Colossians 3:12-15: "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body, and be ye thankful." So, it is up to God to do the pruning. My job is to love my brother. Thank you for your insightful reply. I am sorry my post was off topic. I was hoping to get some insight from some very learned Christians. Love in Christ, Janae. |
