1821 | Divine Healing? | Matthew | BradK | 72302
Dear Inmyheart, Let's say that I agree with your position on Mark 16:15-18. As all the signs listed in vs.17-18 are in the same context and apply to us today, what of "taking up serpents" and "drinking anything deadly"? In all honesty, would you or have you done so? Do you have the faith? As I see it, because of the context, ALL of these signs, by your reasoning are still in place? If so, then to be consistent, one would not exclude any of them from current practice. We should see believers(with faith) willing and able to exercise these sign gifts? The challenge I see with this is that we do not see this consistency displayed in the public arena. Why do we not see, the numerous healing ministries on TBN stepping out on "faith" before their audiences to proclaim the entire truth of Mark 16? Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1822 | What is the time of the tribulation? | Bible general Archive 1 | BradK | 72222
Welcome David, As to your question regarding "church affiliation", there is nothing direct. We represent a variety of backrounds and denominations. Feel free to check out my user profile and those of others for more specifics. However, as you've notice there is a fair amount of "indoctrinated beliefs" posted by individuals from time to time. Thankfully, the majority of these are eventually removed because of various violations, etc. It is a responsibilty I take seriously, to "accurately handle the Word of God" (2 Tim.2:15). By far, the majority of others on this Forum,as you should note are very sound in their approach to Biblical exegesis and interpretation. I've been blessed, and it is my hope that you will be also:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

1823 | No Joyce Meyer?????????????????? | Acts 17:11 | BradK | 72219
Jesified: Re-read my post first. The sarcasm of your response is noted:-) My friend, I do know what I'm saying. I have the cannon of scripture to back me. None of these speakers has any "special anointing". There is no biblical basis for this. None! They do not have anything that me or you don't have in this regard. Acording to 2 Cor. 2:21,"Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has annointed us is God..." We as believers are annointed by God.It's an accomplished act, not something to be sought. The problem here is twofold: One, the terms "annointed"and "annointing" have been misunderstood and misused. (Do a word study on the usage and context if you don't believe me). Second, any time we hold up a man or ministry to be above reproach because they're "annointed of God" we open up the door to all kinds of potential abuses and errors. 1824 | Finding 'Act as though you have faith' | Bible general Archive 1 | BradK | 72117
Dear aften1, As this is a Study Bible Forum,I have already provided you with THE scriptural basis on which I or anyone else is saved. We either accept the Bible as truth (which it is) and the Word of God (which it is) or not(John 17:17)! It would appear that the burden of proof is on you, my friend to show me and the Forum the basis and logic behind your reasoning. At this point I fail to understand where you are coming from. I know what I believe and why I believe it. Why don't you stop with the charades and verbal games and tell us exactly what it is YOU believe or don't believe. Then we will have established a basis for further dialoge. Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1825 | Finding 'Act as though you have faith' | Bible general Archive 1 | BradK | 72047
Dear aften1, You state,"Saved by grace? I would be careful about assuming that one is saved by grace." How about Eph. 2:8-9, and Titus 3:5? Grace by its' definition is something we have not earned! Further, Romans 5:8 says," But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Providing a scriptural basis for your statements would be appropriate:-) I hope this helps, BradK |

1826 | No Joyce Meyer?????????????????? | Acts 17:11 | BradK | 72029
Dear Jesified, The list of preachers you have named are ALL outside the bounds of Orthodox/Historic Chistianity (with the exception of Billy Graham). While I don't expect that you'd concur with me, this is also not to question your integrity:-) When I "check everything against scripture" as we are admonished to do in Acts 17:11, I find the majority of these "teachers" to be severly lacking in sound Biblical preaching. Many of these "so-called" preachers are also outright heretics and even liars! Strong words maybe, but the evidence is there and well-documented, both in print on on the internet. In my humble opinion, TBN is largely a bastion of Pop-culture Christianity, based upon a man-centered theology. Christ IS NOT the focus, by and large of this group. Their theology is one of seeking God for what He can do for me, not seeking Him for who He IS! As to your contention that,"Also, I tend to stay away from ministers that are critical of other ministers", Paul himself named names! (2 Tim.2:17-18) Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1827 | Is C. Dollar teaching the truth? | Acts 17:11 | BradK | 72028
Dear Jesified, You say, " I have heard a lot of Creflo's teaching and I assure you that what I have heard is in line with the word of God." Well my friend, I can't argue with what YOU heard. However, scripture plainy states,"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths."( 2 Tim.4:3-4) Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1828 | John 1:1 and the word was a god | John 1:1 | BradK | 71537
Dear Truthfinder, What is your testimony concerning Jesus Christ? If you are true to your screen name, you would do well to reject the patently false teaching of the JW's and come to know the Christ of the Bible. As Jesus said," I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE, no one comes to the father except by me" John 14:6. The scriptural testimony regarding Christ is well stated in 1 John 5:20,"And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life." Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1829 | Entering Heaven | NT general Archive 1 | BradK | 71295
Dear rferg, Maybe some clarification is needed. At any rate, this topic has been discussed and debated significantly on the Forum. You state "We are baptized for the forgiveness of sins. We repent then the water washes away our sins. Then we recieve the Holy Spirit." According to Eph. 1:7 "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace". Scripture seems to contradict what you say? Additionally, if as you say, the "water washes away our sins", then what did Christs' sacrifice on the cross accomplish? Further, what of 1 Cor.12:11- "we are all baptized BY ONE SPIRIT"? If you are advocating the Church of Christ view regarding salvation, I'm not buying it:-) Speaking The Truth In Love, BradK |

1830 | Adam and Eve the first people created? | Luke 17:1 | BradK | 70851
Dear all-cing-i, Welcome to the Forum! You bring up an honest question. If you are sincere in your quest for truth, I'll offer you some suggestions. 1. Are you a believer? If not, I encourage you to place your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. The truth of scripture is only revealed by Gods' Holy Spirit. As scripture itself testifies in 1 Cor.2:14:" But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised." 2. Most of us (myself included) have had doubts about our faith or , specifically the validity of the Word of God. The crux in accepting Scripture as being inspired of God and worthy of our acceptance by faith, lies in the Resurrection. The entirety of claims made by the Bible and Christ Himself rest upon this(as fact). As the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Cor. 15:3-4,3 "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures..." If Christ never rose from the dead, then nothing the Bible says about Him, or He Himself claimed would be true! The Resurrection is a historical and verifiable fact! One excellent resource to obtain would be "Evidence That Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell. He was a skeptic who was converted by the undeniable truth of the facts he uncovered. Also of value, I would highly recommend C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity". 3. You may also want to access additional info at www.gospelcom.net/rbc/10rsn.home. They have some brief but succinct articles available geared toward the new believer (or skeptic). Specifically see: 10 Reasons to believe Christ and 10 Reasons to believe in the Bible. 1831 | John 15:2, "cut off" or "lift up"? | John 15:2 | BradK | 70550
Hello New Creature, I've noted and considered your response. Just to clarify, I'm only offering an observation and am well aware that none of the translations render "airo" as "lift up". As I'm not a Greek scholar or translator, my motive is not to question the translations :-) With that understanding, I do find it of interest to note that the primary and literal meaning of "airo" is "to raise up","elevate","lift up". Of the 102 occurences, the AV only translates "lift up" 4 times. This has given me opportunity for further study. I believe Wilkinsons' exposition of John 15 merits further consideration. He writes,"First, a clearer translation of the Greek word 'airo', rendered in John 15 as 'take away' would be 'take up'or 'lift up'. We find accurate renderings of 'airo', for example in Matt.14:20,27:32, and John 1:29." As Wilkinson further states,"'Lifts up' suggest an image of a vinedresser leaning over to lift up a branch. But why? When the branches fall into the dirt, God doesn't throw them away or abandon them. He lifts them up, cleans them off, and helps them flourish again." You say,"It is only when men twist the clear teachings of Scripture around that they could possibly say "airo" in this instance could possibly mean "lift up" Careful study of the text will plainly reveal that it says no such thing!" I do not honestly believe it a matter of "scripture twisting", but seeing the text differently. In seeking clarification of a text by giving due consideration to various renderings of a word, are we not doing "careful study?" The "careful study" of the text also offers some gems and truths for us to behold. Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1832 | How do I make sense of the context? | Acts 8:13 | BradK | 69789
Hi David, A good question! I would answer Col. 2:13: "When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us ALL our transgressions". Also see Eph. 4:32, Col.3:13. How many of our "sins" were in the future from the cross? Christ paid the penalty for our sins once for all! ( Heb.9:28, 10:10,18) Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1833 | BradK, Are the other OT Laws in effect? | Col 2:16 | BradK | 69463
Dear John Reformed, I think we would be in basic agreement per your response. I was coming from the aspect of our righteous standing. I would agree in spirit that our responsibilty is not one to ignore, but that we are now free to obey (Gal.5:13). One of the challenges I see is how are we to "obey" the law in its' moral precepts when no one, save Christ was able to?(Rom.10:4) Is the point or purpose of our walk to keep or fulfill the 10 Commandments? I understand the directive of Paul in Gal.5:14..."that the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." What of "walking by faith", "walking in the Spirit", or "pursuing love"? Certainly our standing before God is predicated by our being "In Him" but what is it that guides our practical walk? What of Titus 2:11-12 "11 For the GRACE of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12 instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age". As a fellow seeker of truth, these questions are necessary but not easy to answer. Let me know your thoughts or further comments. Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1834 | BradK, Are the other OT Laws in effect? | Col 2:16 | BradK | 69450
Hi Searcher56, I'll answer the question the best I can based upon my knowledge of scripture:-) Romans 6:14 seems clear based upon the following; 1.Christ came and fulfilled the law. (Matt.5:17) 2. We are now the "Righteousness of God In Him" 2 Cor. 5:21. Also, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes." Rom. 10:4 3. Understanding what we (as Gentiles) now have as Eph. 2:12-15 states,"12 remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, 15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace" 4.Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law as Galatians 3:13-14 states. 5.The whole purpose of the "law" was to show us our sinfulness and lead us to Christ. (Rom 7:7, Gal. 3:19-24). 6. We are released form the "law" as indicated in Rom. 7:4-6 7. The law is fulfilled in us , "who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit ( Rom.8:3-4,9) We cannot keep the Law, it is only fulfilled by our being "in Christ". I am not under the law nor is it in effect with regards to my RIGHTEOUS standing with God. I hope this answers your question. Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

Makarios, Thank you for the "repost" and summary of the Newcomers guidelines. They are much needed and will hopefully be of benefit to those who heed the advice. Hello Romans, Welcome to the Forum. In answer to your question, you might want to type into the search function "TNIV", or just follow this thread. The major problem (in my opinion) with the TNIV is the translators attempt to render it Gender-Neutral. You can view both sides of this issue in-depth by going to www.tniv.com and www.no-tniv.com. I hope this helps:-) Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

justme, Thank you for the update. Let me know the results should you receive any further communication. In checking out the availability of this translation, I've noted how few copies are on the shelves in both the local Christian Book stores and even the major secular retailers. I've seen 4 copies maximum at the Christian stores. Maybe that is a telling sign. Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1838 | Do you own a TNIV? | Bible general Archive 1 | BradK | 68802
Hi justme, In my honest opinion, the TNIV is lacking! I would say I'm underwhelmed by it and that it IS problematic from the Gender-Neutrality standpoint alone. I don't think it improves anything in respect to current translations and certainly lowers the standard in comparison to the KJV, NASB, etc. At best I would give it a C minus ( and I'm being generous):-) The cost is 12.99 paperback, and 16.99 hardcover.
