1681 | Please explain James 1:2 | Rom 5:1 | lionheart | 141172
Hello miss ann and good morning. I go to this verse a lot. I dont know anyone thats happy when they are facing major challenges to there faith. But notice in the very next verse how James says that the testing of your faith produces endurance.(stedfastness)Even when things are hard we can still have joy. Read Romans 5:1-5 Paul tells us what we have because of our faith in Jesus Christ. We have peace with God. Paul tells us that we stand in Gods Grace. So no matter what may come our way, because we place our faith in Jesus Christ we can have joy we can have peace. God will not disappoint us. We dont have to let anything steal our joy. 1685 | Salvation is a gift to be accepted | Luke 6:46 | lionheart | 141093
I think one thing we all need to keep in mind at this point is that what Jesus Christ did at calvary was a one time thing. He only had to die once,Ro 6:10. Why would we wanna put Jesus back on the cross? When Jesus died on the cross he satisfied Gods rightious requirement for our sin. He took the death penalty for us. Now with all this in mind lets see what we will see. We all blow it on a daily basis to be sure. Do we lose our salvation once we have it, I dont know,But these things I do know,1.When we sin we we break fellowship with God. Ja 5:16 1Jn 1:9 It is encumbant on us to deal with our sin.Thats why we confess our sin to God and each other. This is something we better be doing every day, because my brothers and sisters Iknow I fall short everyday. The key is we dont have to continue in our sin, thats why I gotta get on my knees before God every day. We can turn away from God, we can walk away from him. Heb 6:4-6 If one willfully chooses to stay in their sin they crucify Christ all over again. 1Jn1:8,10 If we say we dont sin it says the truth is not in us and we make God out to be a liar. Some pretty stark contrasts here dont you think. Every last one of us better be sure that what we beleive and teach lines up with what Gods Word says. What ever resides in our heart is what we will teach others. Lets make sure we help people make it to heaven and not hell. Love you guys. lionheart. |

1686 | Did God experience what human did in O.T | Gen 6:6 | lionheart | 141078
God has always been familiar with and relatable to us.Read Gen6:6. We serve a personal God. I firmly beleive in my heart that when God created man he created man with the desire to have a people he could and would call his own and a people who would walk with him. Genesis tells us that Enoch walked with God. David is the only one in the Bible that is refered to as a man after Gods own heart. So yes I do beleive that God has always felt what we do. The difference being he is sinnless we are not. God has never been a stranger to what we go through and never will be. In Christ lionheart |

1687 | history of Mary Magdalene? | NT general Archive 1 | lionheart | 141070
Hello Precious J,welcome to the forum. Eveything you will find regarding Mary Magdalene in the Bible will be found in the Gospels. After the Gospels there is no further reference to Mary Magdalene. The Gospels paint a pretty good picture of who she was and her involvment in the scheme of things. Hope this helps. In Christ lionheart |

1688 | Does all scripture mean the same to all | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 141045
Hi karen c I was reading your question and want to make sure I'm not barking up the wrong tree. 2PT 1:20 (KJV) No prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation. The meanning doesnt change. Gods Word must be allowed to speak for itself. As situations change application can change. EXAMPLE: A hammer is used to pound things, in one apllication it may be used to drive a nail, the next time you may use that hammer to straighten something etc. etc. I hope this isnt too primitive. 1691 | Why God allows such tragedy | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 140869
Absolutly brother. I beleive with all my heart that God can take any situation and work it for the best. He can take a situation that means death and work it for life. Job is a prime example of what God will do for his people. Ro 8:28 Col 1:27 Christ in you the hope of glory. We really do have something to offer those who are so desperatly needing the hope of God in their lives. God Bless you lionheart |

1692 | Why God allows such tragedy | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 140866
There has already been alot of coverage on this subject, but I had a few thoughts that might encourage those that still may still struggle with this. In Deut 30:19 Moses tells the Isrealites choose life, but man as habit will have it man has a penchant for choosing death. God gave us freedom of will. People choose to turn away from God.Ro3:23 6:23. We wittness the consequences of those choices everyday. It's simple but its hard. Know one likes to see people destroyed or loved ones hurt. But all is not hopless, We serve a merciful and compassionate God. 2Peter 3:9b He is patient with you,not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. Jer 29:11-14a Tells us God has a plan for us. It tells us also that if we look for him with all our heart we will find him. We have the privlege of helping people to find God. With all the tragedy going on there is still hope and we we can share that hope with those who have none. I love you guys lionheart |

1697 | What is considered an Idol | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 140766
My brother thats what I was attempting to say. We cant involve ourselves in anything that will turn us away from God,and for that matter anything that will cause our brothers or sister to stumble and fall. Thats one of the reasons I see Romans 14 as I do. Not all of us see things from the same perspective.I think thats one reason Paul penned Romans 14. God wants his family intact not splintered. Thats why it's encumbant on me as a brother in Christ that if I'm doing something that makes you struggle even if I'm at peace with God about it that I not do it around you. Thats the Godly thing to do, thats the loving thing to do. I have no right to make or cause anyone to stumble. A little sidebar here, I'm a recovering alcaholic by the grace of God with over 15 years clean and sober. It's only because of Jesus Christ that I can say that. So with that in mind I dont put myself in situations that will put my walk with God or my brothers in jepordy. They do the same for me. You know what? It works!! In the end it all comes down to this,Love God and keep his commandments Jn 14:15 and secondly 2Pt 1:18-21 Lets Gods Word speak for itself it will make things perfectly clear. A whole bunch better than we can. I love you brother your great. In Christ lionheart |

1698 | What is considered an Idol | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 140735
AO Brother slow your role here for a second. I can appreciate your heart. Anything that will take our priority and focus off of God is dead wrong. God is specific and clear about what constitutes an idol and what constitutes idolitry. In Matthew 23 Jesus calls the pharisees to task for there hypocrisy. He says in vs 15 that those they convert that they make them twice as much a son of hell as they are. In vs 23 Jesus says that they ignore the weightier matters of the law, justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Go ahead and throw love in along with that. These guys themselves were idolitros they went after attention for themseves not God. The wearing of a cross or a fish does not nescessarily constitute idoloitry. Check this out,During the Roman persecution beleivers would use the sign of the fish to identify each other. Brother I want to encourage you To check out Romans chapter 14. Paul addresses things that were disputable matters of that time,Ultimatly it's about our relationship with God.Gods Word is clear on how we should be living and what our priorities must be. In Christ lionheart |

1699 | Do you control your thoughts? | James 1:14 | lionheart | 140722
Angel right on. One could write a book on this. We constantly need to be reminded of who we are and what we need to be doing to stay strong in God. 1Thess 5:11 this is what we should be doing every day. We cant be playing the loneranger. Thanx for your insight brother. Bless you brother. lionheart |

SHARMAN4U, Hang in there you are not without hope Satan can exert powerful influence over people. There are a number of references to those afflicted or possesed by demons and unclean spirits. Satan can bring all kinds of stuff our way. But we are not helpless.2Tim 1:7 says For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, and love, and discipline. 1Peter 1:13 tells us to prepare our minds for action. We do this by keeping our focus on God and submitting ourselves to him. Ja 4:7 tells us to to resist the devil and it says hes gotta go. Ro 12:2 Tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. WE do that by spending time with God in prayer and in his Word everyday. Satan will throw all kinds of junk at us,but by the power of God we can fight. Eph6:10,11,12. Remember Col 1:27 It's Christ in you the hope of Glory. You and God make a majority in any situation. Stay tight with the body you'll be fine. Your brother in Christ lionheart |
