Does "name" refer to relationship, that is, Son?
162 | is it possible for Jesus to have sinned? | Heb 4:15 | Thomas8 | 221192
Mar 14:30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. Was it possible for Peter NOT to deny Jesus? Were OT predictions of Jesus just as immutable? |
||||||
163 | is it possible for Jesus to have sinned? | Heb 4:15 | Thomas8 | 222299
Hi, "OT predictions of Jesus just as immutable?" means God's forknowledge is infallible. If Jesus could avoid the cross then the OT would have errors. If Peter failed to deny Jesus then Jesus would have been wrong. |

164 | Holy of Holies | Heb 10:19 | Thomas8 | 191341
Consider how radically different this position is compared to the Aaronic High Priest. And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the veil before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. (Lev 16:2 KJV) Please discuss this NT position. |

165 | Rabbis not paid? | James 3:1 | Thomas8 | 205535
On James 3 William Barclay says ... "It was true that a Rabbi was not allowed to take money for teaching and that he was supposed to support his bodily needs by working at a trade;" Does any historian know about this? Is it factual? |

166 | Rabbis not paid? | James 3:1 | Thomas8 | 205556
Hi MJH, Thank you so much for your help. Do you think that the following is a reliable site (I do not know anything about this subject.) http://tinyurl.com/5jgdvu "While the rabbinate became a paying profession starting in the 14th century, the training of rabbis was still the product of the personal interaction between devoted students and revered teachers." |

167 | Rabbis not paid? | James 3:1 | Thomas8 | 205559
Thank you, Tamara. It reminds me of ... And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. (Mat 10:7-8 KJVR) Anything you would like to add is always appreciated. |

168 | Rabbis not paid? | James 3:1 | Thomas8 | 205582
I sincerely value your information on Rabbis and for your evaluation of William Barclay.
169 | Not need teachers? In what way? | 1 John 2:27 | Thomas8 | 203681
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (Joh 14:26 KJVR) 1Jn 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. "Ye know all things" in what sense? Not need teachers? Please tell me what you think about these verses. |

170 | 1 Jn 5:6,9,10 connection? | 1 John 5:6 | Thomas8 | 225321
Does v.6 the Spirit witnesses ... connect with v 9 the witness of God, God testified. (Wish I could use a highlighter.) 1Jn 5:6-10 (6) This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is **the Spirit that beareth witness,** because the Spirit is truth. (7) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (8) And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. (9) If we receive the witness of men, **the witness of God** is greater: for this is the witness of God which **he hath testified** of his Son. (10) He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not ***the record that God gave*** of his Son. |

171 | Please define sin. | 1 John 5:17 | Thomas8 | 205474
Is there an extensive list of definitions of sin? Any additions to these would be helpful. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. (1Jn 5:17 KJVR) Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (Jas 4:17 KJVR) Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. (1Jn 3:4 KJVR) |

172 | Diotrephes | 3 John 1:10 | Thomas8 | 202060
How can Diotrephes cast people out of the church? The church is viewed as a spiritual remnant or a physical organization - and in this verse it seems to be a physical group. |

173 | Senses of the word church? | 3 John 1:10 | Thomas8 | 202069
Hi Steve, Thank you for your reply. I'm thinking about a distinction between church as the saved as the body of Christ vrs the view that the church is an organization made up of saved and lost. Diotrephes is casting out of an organization but it would not affect their salvation, would it? Would they still be in the Body of Christ? Or is this distinction modern? |

174 | I need examples of a good reputation | 3 John 1:12 | Thomas8 | 202062
3Jn 1:12 KJVR (12) Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true. False witnesses would lie about believers and it was important that there be no foundation whatsoever for it. Those that knew the accused would know his character and how much credance to give any accusation. |

175 | Jude 1:9 and Zec 3:2 | Jude 1:9 | Thomas8 | 104510
(Zechariah 3:2) And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? Does Jude 1:9 have a relationship to Zec 3:2? |

176 | Interpretative Schools? | Rev 1:1 | Thomas8 | 204451
I understand that there are some (4 or more) main interpretative schools for The Revelation. Can you tell me what they are and a little overview about each of them?
177 | Time Lines Online? | Rev 1:1 | Thomas8 | 204951
Rather than reinvent the wheel :-) can you point me to very detailed prophetic time lines? I understand they might be based upon different systems of interpretation. If they line up last trumpets or 'man of sin' examples and provide a lot of Scriptures it would help. Google did not help me with this one.
178 | Methodist position on the Revelation? | Rev 1:1 | Thomas8 | 205017
Thank you for explaining the different systems of interpretation for the Revelation. Does anyone know which system the United Methodists use? I've looked at their website and googled for Methodist, prophecy and Revelation but I do not know their position. Any urls or comments would be appreciated.
179 | Angels in Revelation | Rev 1:1 | Thomas8 | 206164
Any descriptions of the angels (anywhere in Scripture) and how the word is used in the Revelation would be appreciated. Is it reasonable to see it as messenger or pastor in the early chapters since it seems to be used exclusively of angelic creatures thereafter? |

Very good lead. Thank you, Doc. There is a lot of information at this site.
