161 | God's commandment not to worship idols. | Deut 5:8 | jlpangilinan | 35459
Hugger, Are you saying that it is ok to have any graven image. Did you say that you dont worship them, then why it should be in the church? for what. Do you think it is okay to put them in the altar and kneeling before them because as you said God looking into our hearts. Where in the scriptures that will stated that it is ok to have graven image in front of you when you pray? can you show me that? Where in the scriptures that will stated that when you make a church put graven image in the cross and it will okay for God? can you show me that too. If God say no, it is No! there is no conlcusion about that. I will give the example that when God said no, it is NO! obedience is important my friend when if really want to follow the commandments of God. God said in the old testament that ark of covenant cannot be touch and whoever touch them will die. If read 2Sa 6:6 ¶ And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. 2Sa 6:7 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. The motive really of Uzzah is good preventing the ark of covenant to fall or broke, but because of his disobedience God killed him. It is the same thing in our lives today, when God say no, it is no! dont put your conclusion to it it could be dangerous. Even you said that you are not worshiping them but you made an graven image it is against in the commandments of God! to be safe dont make any for you. |

164 | How do we respond to war as Christians? | Deut 7:2 | jlpangilinan | 23752
Tim Your Question:"Where exactly in the Bible does it say that war is evil?" If you want to find it "word by word" you cannot find it I sure. But to defind it is evil maybe I could show you some passages I know that in the time of Old testament God through Moses commanded people of Israel to go to war in order to protect thier faith (JEWISH) because at that time only JEWISH people worship the true GOD. If we recall that when Babylons invaded Israel Daniel and other people of Israel force to worship Idols. There is the reason why Israel has to do battle against the nations that not worshiping the true God. But in the time of Jesus Christ we have now part of the commonwealth of Israel: Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: We are now even Gentiles worshiping the same God. There are no reason to go to war against each other. If war is really not an evil act why Jesus Christ ordered us not to fight back? Instead He commanded to flee to mountains: Lu 21:20 ¶ And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Lu 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. He also taught soldier "to do violence to no man" meaning Jesus Christ dosn't want violence and war include many violence. Lu 3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.1 2 He (Jesus) never encouarage anyone to go to war or to fighback. Some passages that will explain that war is evil. Jas 4:1 ¶ From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. with that passages, if lusts desire to kill is still not evil for you, what can I say is I dont think so. Another example: Re 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. Re 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. Re 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Gog and magog will do "battle" against to the beloved city. Battle is very the same as war. At Re 20:10 it was mentioned, "And the devil that deceived them" who decieved the gog and Magog to do war against the beloved city? THE DEVIL! so if the devil who decieve them to go to war meaning THE WAR IS EVIL in this particular time. I dont think if the devil decieve them and we call them HOLY? Thank you, Johnny |

166 | How do we respond to war as Christians? | Deut 7:2 | jlpangilinan | 23802
Tim, Before my statement I did a clarification that If you find the word "war is evil" in the bible you never find it. But to define it we can define that war is evil. Tim to simplify the issue. 1.For me really war is evil, my question to you now tim is what really the root why we wars? Do you think it is not becuase of Evil? It is right God commanded Israel to go to war, because there is evil behind thier enemies. Those people that trying to invade Israel are idols worshipers. But if there is no evil do you think those people will do war against Israel? If there is evil behind wars, meaning war is evil! Because I dont think there is war if there is no evil behind it. 2. If there is no evil, who do you think will go to war to protect themeselves to any invader or will try to invade Israel, so do you think God will still commanded Israel to go war without an enemy? 3. If there is no evil, who do you think will put to hitler an evil heart to kill 6 million innocent people? do you think it is God? I dont think God still create wars if there is no Evil. Meaning behind every wars there is evil. Because if there is no evil Im sure there is no war. That is the reason that my difinition of war is evil. Your are right! We cannot find a single word in the bible that "war is evil" but you can define it, becuase if there is no evil, we all sure there is no war. And I am really sure that God will not create any wars against anyone! I sure He will not happy watching His people killing each other and He is the one Behind those wars! otherwise He is a crazy god. God bless, Johnny God bless, Johnny |

I did visit your User Information, Congratulations in advance for your future (April)grandaughter. You mentioned that you are raised pentecostal. You should believed in speaking in tongue? I witness of that many times here in our country, I pray for that too, I am almost experience that (speaking in tongue). I am happy for you as you said God brought you back. God bless, Johnny |

169 | How do we respond to war as Christians? | Deut 7:2 | jlpangilinan | 24244
Me as I mentioned almost have that gift I am started to speak but I still heard the people inside the church. I am still praying for that gift. Christians today maybe not denying completely that gift, some of my baptist friends believed in speaking in tongue although they still not experiencing it. Meaning they are not really after for that gift. Unlike to a pentecostal group that speaking in tongue is very important gift. Other christians believed that it can happen to someone but not for everyone. And it is not a requirement for being a believers but if you recieved that gift you have to be very thankful. You mentioned about healing, I do believed that also, although I do believed that not everyone have that gift. Every one has his own gift: Co 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 1Co 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 1Co 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 1Co 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 10. 1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. Today the given mission to us of our lord is not Just healing: Mt 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Mt 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. It was mentioned there are will say to the lord they done wonderful works in the name of Jesus Christ but they will accursed. But teaching is not including there, preaching, teaching, love and charity to everyone that is the mission that God want us to continue until His Kingdom will come. Nice talking to you, thanks for your wonderful testimony about His power. God bless, Johnny |

170 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | jlpangilinan | 24249
Hi Chris, You have a very good discussion with coop1. My question to you now is where in the New Testament that you will depend your self if someone will kill you? Your argument is we are going to finish this terrorist do you beleived that as human being we can prevent this war? Is Jesus Christ commanded us to participated in the war? What Jesus Christ teaching if there are this kind of wars is: Lu 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Lu 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. He is not commanded Christtian to go depend your self or to fight back but to flee to mountains. How could you explain this? Mt 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. Please explain this. Christian life is not an easy task my friend, so please explain those passages that I quoted answer it with a passages support. Thank you, Mabuhay! God bless, Johnny |

171 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | jlpangilinan | 24291
Charis, I know common sense, I did not mention either that you just watch when somebody murdered your children. But Jesus Christ said flee to mountains. I am expecting that when we have a discussion we should put our reason base on biblical truth. If we are really a Christian what would we do? 1Co 5:10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. We should go out of the world because we are not in this world. I know you know what it means. What this passages is all about if you are a Christian and still you within you. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Ga 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. If we are really a Christian we should follow the example of paul, He is not the one deciding for him but it was Christ.Paul was put in prison and beheaded, more of the desciples was murdered, are they commanded to fight? or use thier common sense to depend thier family?: He was led out of the city, with a crowd of the lowest rabble at his heels. The fatal spot was reached; he knelt beside the block; the headsman's axe gleamed in the sun and fell; and the head of the apostle of the world rolled down in the dust" (probably A.D. 66), four years before the fall of Jerusalem. Are they use common sense my friend? or they just allow thier prosecutors to prosecute or kill them? Too many claiming that they are a Christian but cannot follow the example of a true Christian (including me) Mt 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. If we cannot follow the example of true Christians we should submit that we are just Christian by mouth and not by heart, just because of money: Mic 3:11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. We have too many of that right now, very good to preach and teach, but cannot do what he was talking. God bless, Johnny |

Charis, I am not arguing you with my personal toughts, but what is written in the Bible. When you are answering my question please supported it with the passages then I would agree. You mentioned that in you previos post, that you are praying to finish this conflict, that is fine but I dont believed that this wars will stop but even will be worsen. Mt 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. That is why we keep praying "Your Kingdom Come, Your Will be done on earth at is was in heaven" because this wars only end when the Kingdom Come. You mentioned about depending themeselves, I brought that question already but you refuse to answer. Are there teaching of Jesus Christ that you depend themselves? if there is its fine. Are there any teaching that soldier can kill somebody? Are there specific teaching for them as a Christian soldier? I you can show me, fine.: Lu 3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. Do you think there is exemption here. Did Jesus Christ mentioned that ..."but if you are in trouble kill them it is okay?" Do you think when Soldier kill his Enemy it is not violence anymore? Is Jesus mentioned that it is Ok to kill if you depend yourselves? If you can show me fine. Again I am talking of a true Christian here, if we cannot follow the example of the real Christian, then we must submit that we are not truly serving Him but for the sake of Money: Mic 3:11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. I am talking here of a true Christian my friend, not Christian in Mouth by a true Christian by heart that can follow the true teaching of Jesus Christ. God bless, Johnny |

173 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | jlpangilinan | 24499
Dear Tim, I just gave the example of a true Christian which is in the bible, If our nation is a true Nation of God it is God will protect us like what He was doing if Israel obey him: Ex 15:4 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea. Ex 15:5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone. Ex 15:6 Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. I dont agree with you that there is no verse to forbid us to fight: I dont know if how many times did you read the whole book of the bible. Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ex 20:13 Thou shalt not kill. Mt 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Mt 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. "Do good them hate you," if fighting back is doing good for you, it is your choice and not of the bible teaching. Or do you bless them by fighting them or killing them, because it was mentioned "blessed them that curse you". It is not my word my friend, it is from the scriptures, if we ignore them do you think scriptures made for what? a comics a decorations? Again I am talking here of a true Christian, not in title nor by mouth but truly Christian in Heart, Because to many people call themselves a Christian for the sake of MONEY: Mic 3:11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. God bless, Johnny |

Just show me the scriptures in the bible that Jesus Christ taught us to fight, or depend ourselves. My argument there is very simple I am not arguing anyone based on my words but the scriptures. If you can show me the verses that Jesus taught us to fight, fine. "Do good them hate you," if fighting back is doing good for you, it is your own choice and not of the bible teaching. I am not arguing charis, to find Twin Towers in Judea, if you can find it yourself you know the answers to your questions. God bless, Johnny |

175 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | jlpangilinan | 24548
Charis, You start become angry, My agrument is too simple, Just show me that Jesus taught us to fight or to depend themeselves, and its fine: Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Your suggestion become sarcastic, but let me try answer this using the word of God: Your comment:"The Bible does not tell you specifically to breathe, either, but I suggest that you continue." My Answer: Ge 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. "Man become a living soul" Meaning would you suggest or not I am continuing breathing because your not the one holding my breath, it is very clear in that passages that God gave breath to everyone including yours. I respect you as a pastor, thanks for calling me arrogant! may God bless you in that. What I am very disappointed when you are starting changing my Statement: Your comment:"Please do not say that you are speaking as a "true Christian" implying that those that disagree with you are not. " MY ORIGINAL STATEMENT" "I am talking here of a true Christian my friend, not Christian in Mouth by a true Christian by heart that can follow the true teaching of Jesus Christ." You are accusing me of what I did not say, is that part of your teaching? My statement is: "I am talking of a true Christian" and "not as a true Christian" Meaning for those who follow the teaching of Jesus Christ, those who are in the Bible, an Example of a true Christian. If you remember my last post I also include myself as a Christian that cannot follow all the teaching of Jesus Christ! Dont change anything that is not true my friend, I hope you mistype it or misunderstood it. As a Christian it is not good. Please dont be angry, remember it is just a discussion. God bless you always, Johnny |

Dear Tim, I read your Comment to "Who gave United States the right to judge unrighteousness?" You quote Romans 13:1-5: The taliban has his own Authority, if you mentioned that U.S. given authority by God it is the same as Afganistan. Please consider that they are Moslims, thier teaching are very different from us Christian. Bad for us could be good for them. Suicide for a Christian is a mortal sin, but for moslims, suicide and kill the enemies could make them Holy. Let consider if we are taught moslims or we are moslims. In our own perspectives as Christians what we saw in twin towers is very brutal or what strongest term could it be. But do we know what is in the heart of those Hijacker? Killing someone is a terrible things, but killing someone including youselves is very fanatic! Some can do it because of faith! Those Hijackers maybe taught that U.S. is an enemy of Islam, it is the mission that gave them of ALLAH! Did you consider that courage? Killing enemies including themeselves in the Glory of Allah! Maybe because of wrong teaching those Hijackers performed a terrible descisions for thier life. They maybe hope that because of what they Did they serve ALLAH! becuase of different teaching? (Maybe) Bin Ladin has his own reason why he attack U.S. you should saw them in International Television. 1.They consider U.S. as enemy of Islam. 2.War Iraq vs. Iran U.S. help Iran. too many civilian dies. 3.Afganistan vs. Russia U.S. support Afganistan because they are against Russia. (Now Russia helping U.S.) maybe with thier own vested interest 3.Kuwait v.s. Iraq, do you think U.S. will help kuwait without its own vested interest? U.S. want to stop Saddam because it is a big treat to US economy and peace. The really big reason is US help kuwait because they know that Saudi will pay for the Cost. US can kill saddam or arrested Him, why they dont? because there will be no treat in the Arabia, and American will out from there, big income will bo lost. 4. Moslims consider Israel as an Mortal enemy, US keep protecting or supporting Israel why? Israel has own big companies in the US, they are investors, they are a big help in the U.S. economy. 5.Taliban, would like to negotiate, US refuse why? Because Afganistan is just a uneducated and oppressed country. The US know they can easily strike afgan and defeat it. I dont think if some other Superpowers like China holding Bin Ladin US still want to do wars against them. When that airplane collided in China US apologize why? China is a big nation to fight, aside from that it has a big business relationship with US. Who is really rightous? Those are points that I dont want to think, it is sometimes bother my faith. I pray that God somehow justify those hijackers of why they do that kind of terrorist attack. God knows what really in thier heart. God knows the heart of that Hijackers of what is the reason why they done that? it could be because of faith or because of truly wrongdoings. I pray that God gave me the same courage what the Hijackers has. I will use that courage not to kill people but to performed a true Christian life in serving God, I dont have that kind of courage yet, that I ready to die just because of faith, and I pray for that kind of courage. God bless, Johnny |

178 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | jlpangilinan | 24757
Dear Tim, Thanks for the answer. I dont really mentioned that thier action are right. But I mean is if that hijackers do those things becuase of Religion, or they done that because of service to Allah, I still find that courage, but I mentioned maybe with the wrong teaching! I also mention "IF" they mayvbe do that as purely terrosrist attack, or maybe the taught or they believed that attack could make them Holy. So if I have that kind of courage, that I am ready to die because of my faith, I am be very thankful if I have that kind of faith not to kill people but to serve God. I made that example by thier courage being ready to die not because they kill too many innocent, but thier courage to be ready to die. (IF it is because of faith and not because of Money). You also not answer my points regarding the help of US to Kuwait, About the being treat of Iraq to the US, and about the payment of the Saudi. About the China, we know it is in thier Territory, if the News is true, the americans is there to a survilance because the Military of China is too strong right now, it could be the same of what happen to Saddam it could be a treat to the US. I am not hate Americans or whosoever, just the news. Concerning Bin Ladin Im not with Him also, I am a peace lover. He maybe hiding because he is the leader of his group! He is the one planning how to survive to this US attack, it is the same that you dont want your president to go to afganistan to find Bin Ladin himself. I believed Tim, if the Bible is true these wars will more worsen. I am not happy with wars, but as Jesus Christ mentioned it has to be happened as a sign of His second coming. God bless, Johnny |

179 | Can you please explain tithing? | Deut 14:1 | jlpangilinan | 163291
Jeff, are you saying that tithe (ten percent) are still requirements for Christians. Did Jesus require us to give ten percent or whatever puposes of the heart? 2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. God bless, |
||||||
180 | Can you please explain tithing? | Deut 14:1 | jlpangilinan | 163340
Jeff, I believed that Christian is no longer required to give ten percent, but then I do not say that I am against giving in the way of love offering. If someone love to give half of his earning, or whatever part of it, it is acceptable to God, what I mean is no one required someone to give ten percent. Bible taught that tithing is very part of the law, and according to apostle paul it will not justified us: Ac 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Did tithe or ten percent are really part of the law? Yes. The first Mosaic law on this subject is recorded in Le 27:30-32. Subsequent legislation regulated the destination of the tithes (Nu 18:21-24,26-28; De 12:5-6,11,17; 14:22-23). The paying of the tithes was an important part of the Jewish religious worship. In the days of Hezekiah one of the first results of the reformation of religion was the eagerness with which the people brought in their tithes (2Ch 31:5-6). And According to paul it will not justified us. Maybe you can explain to me that tithe is not part of the law? Please answer: Let me quote that verse you used: Lu 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Christ said in that verse, that we must not leave the other undone? Right? What else of the law did you observed aside from tithing? Did you stone your brethren if you caught them in the act of adultery, did you not eat pork? Did you observe not to go out in the day of Sabbath? If you are not observing those laws and observe only the tithe which is part of it, it is the same that you leave the other undone! Then Christ will call us hypocrites! Please answer: My other argument, is that in new testament, Christ did not require His disciples to give tithe to Him or either the disciple require their members to give tithe to them, aside from that they specified of whom which have the authority to received tithes. Heb 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham: Heb 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. Levi, have a commandment to take tithes, according to the law, they come from loins of Abraham, did your pastors came from loins of Abraham? I still have more proof to argue about tithes, maybe we settle things, first then continue further God bless, |
