144 | No medical/spiritual need to circumcise? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 11761
Actually there can be medical reasons for circumcision if you want to acknowledge them. the procedure is said by some to promote better hygiene and prevent inflammation. Also circumcision has proven to reduce the risk of penile cancer. The uncircumsized male runs a much higher risk of this rare form of cancer than does the circumsised man. It is also done to preserve a man's body image that is consistant with his peers since circumcision is such a common practice in the United States. On the other hand there are surgical risks in the circumcision as with any other surgery. In addition an uncircumsised male is believed to experience much greater physical pleasure during sexual intercourse. An RN
145 | No medical/spiritual need to circumcise? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 11819
I'm not saying yea or nay to circumsision. I just gave the medical points on both sides. I do know for a fact (being a surgical nurse) that it is extremely painful for a man to have it done later in life.
146 | where is paradise? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 13795
Paradise is heaven. Harper's Bible Dictionary defines it as a location or status of uninterrupted bliss. The word paradise is of Persian origin and denotes a park or forest. Since the Bible lands were often barren, it is not surprising that such and image would be meaningful. Paul speaks of Paradise in connection with his vision of the "third heaven" (2Cor 12:1-4). In Luke 23:42-43 when the thief asks Jesus to remember him when Jesus came in His kingship, Jesus replied that that day he would be with Him in paradise. I don't believe that one can be in a state of total bliss while on this earth. We are continuously going through trials and temptations to help us mature in Christ. Please explain what you mean when you say he's experiencing things where he's been before. Does he think he was reincarnated? |

147 | Where does one start who has never reall | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 15575
Welcome to the forum Mark. I agree that the gospels are an excellent place to start. Some information for your reference; Matthew is known as the teaching gospel. He presents Jesus as the Mighty King and empasizes the power of Christ. Mark is known as the narrative gospel and is full of action. he presents Jesus as the obedient servant and emphasizes the service of Christ. Luke is a carefully documented gospel that portrays Jesus as the ideal Son of Man and emphasizes the sympathy of Christ. John is the spiritual gospel. He portrays Jesus as the Divine Son of God and emphasizes the Wisdom of Christ. I also want to invite you to ask any questions you have on the forum. No question is a dumb question. I can also give you another suggestion that has not been given if you would like to e me. You can find my email address by double clicking on my name in the author list. May God bless you richly on your search for truth in His Word. prayon |

148 | Where was God? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 16566
In our newspaper yesterday they asked the question: "Where were you God (during Tuesday's tragedy)". I am curious to see how my fellow forumers would answer this question. prayon
149 | Where was God? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 16723
Where was God? I submit this for your consideration. Our concept of God is that God gave us the ability to do good and evil. when we choose to do good, God celebrates with us. When we choose to do evil, God cries with us. God gives us choices and gives us the ability to make those choices. But the choice is ours. When we look for blame, the blame is with us, not God. From the Jewish perspective, the question is always asked, "Where was God at Auschwitz?" The Jewish answer is "God was there. The real question is where was Man at Auschwitz?"
150 | Where was God? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 16764
Where I am headed is where man was before this happened? God was there at the World Trade Center. He was at the Pentagon. He was with them at the plane crash in Pennsylvania. He was with those who got detained and didn't make it to work. He was there with those who didn't make it out who needed comfort. Man, however, was not concerned with what he needed to be concerned with - living Godly and praying for our land. Man was concerned with self. If America would of been on her knees praying for our country I doubt that the events on Sept. 11 would of happened. We can not expect God to be there if He is not asked. He is a loving and compassionate God but He is not a pushy God.
151 | Are we really "1 nation under God? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 16766

154 | what are latter days and In-Times? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 18589
The latter days are the same as the end times. It is the period just before Christ returns to claim his people and Armegeddon - which ever comes first based on your belief of whether the rapture is pre-trib, trib, or post-trib. (I am assuming you mean End-times instead of IN-times). prayon

156 | What are introversion and alternation? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 19190
Introversion: The direction or concentration of one's interest upon oneself. Alternation: Occurence or action of two things or a series of things in turn; passage from one place state, or condition to another and back again: alternation between day and night. From these definitions from Funk and Wagnell's dictionary I would assess that the bible is the only book written with the writer relating history while turning all of the attention to himself. prayon |

160 | What is a good bible version for study? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 20337
Dear Myra, I agree with Sir Pent that it is best to go to the site he recommended and pick the version that is easiest for you to understand. I do strongly recommend that when you have chosen the version you like to get it in the "Life Application Version". The Application Bible has a lot of explanation of verses as well as how to apply them to your life today. It also has profile's on different bible persons, an explanation of each book in general, many charts, diagrams and maps, and cross references, as well as a small concordance in the back. I am sure that you will find it quite easy to learn from. prayon |
