Jushafreak, Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised! I will Shout joyfully to the LORD! I will praise Him for His loving kindness! I will praise Him for His mercies! I will praise and uplift the LORD my GOD! Scriptural facts are what you were/are seeking on this subject. From your postings I am convinced that you know scripture, and, that you know how to search scripture. In fact, I am convinced that you know so much about scripture that you are probably capable of winning any debate or argument on this subject, and, maybe other subjects as well. Consider this, and, I will do my best to keep emotion out of it. If you read one my postings in this thread you know that I am an ex-user and an ex-drug dealer. The fact is this; pot has the similar "buzz" effect and altering of thoughts and imagination as alcohol. Just as alcohol leads to drunkeness, so does pot smoking. Having first hand experience with this I will not be convinced otherwise. It is with sorrow that I post the following scripture. Yes it is with emotion that I post it, none the less, it is scriptural fact, that is what you seek. 1 Cor 5:11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one. Not that I am anyone. You do not know me nor I you. I am not an elder to this forum nor am I anyone in authority, just a Christian, but, if you continue in your drunkeness, your postings are not worthy of reading or response by me, but, again, I am nothing. I love you in Christ Jeshuafreak. Submitted in the boldness of the spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Blessed be His name forever, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Norrie, I will rejoice in the Lord continually, for he has made me glad! I will rejoice in the Lord, for He loved me enough to continue to call me even when I rejected His calling! I will rejoice in the Lord always! My dear, dear sister, I am taking liberty here, on the forum, to share with you my salvation experience only because this thread is not appearing on the home page. Four things before I start; 1) This is my own experience with the Lord and it should not be assumed that the Lord will deal with anyone else in the same manner, 2) When reading this posting it should not be assumed that I am claiming to belong to or am promoting any particular denomination or doctrine, 3) To my understanding, and this is my opinion, it is important when posting to this forum that one needs to include a scripture reference(s), I may or may not in this posting, and, 4) Please bear with me. I have spent most all of my saved life in the KJV of the bible and my lanquage may reflect that, if need be, I apologize. This salvation of David, so I am called on earth, was like this. When I was a young man of 17 I was, as you know already, into drugs, alcohol (1/2 to 1 pint of vodka daily), heavy rock and roll music, and fornication. I was working in a factory driving a fork lift. Driving a forklift high on pot and drunk! I hit two people and was moved to driving the forklift in the warehouse (There was no pedestrian traffic there). God was so good and patient with me! Thank you so much Father! Jesus Christ began to call me. By the way, there was a woman that worked in that plant, who I consider my spiritual mother, that spoke to me of Jesus. Anyway, when driving alone in the warehouse I always had this feeling of someone, not something, but someone being there with me, no matter where I went. One night I had a dream of being chased in a city street by the police with flashlights. In the dream, I ran into a theater. In the center of the theater was a square opening so I jumped in to hide from the police. I found myself hanging on to a railing, and, there was no bottom! I was hanging on for life! There was just pitch black darness below me. I looked up, A light was being shined in my face. But wait! This was not the police! The light was so bright that it blinded me! What is this! The dream ended. Then, being a lover of music, a song came on the radio, it was in the top ten at that time, and, to me, and, probable me only, had a message from Jesus in it. Each time I heard the song I could here Jesus' voice in my heart. "What's happening to me!" I said to myself at that time. This someone would not leave me alone! Jesus is talking to me music I listen to, speaking to me all of the time when I'm awake, and, even in my dreams! I quit my job. But, my mother had been woking there at that time and talked with a man who I respected vey much, and, he talked with me so I came back to my job. I did move to a different department, not driving a forklift, where I would have to converse with people all of the time so I wouldn't have to deal with Jesus' voice. About 6 months or so after that, I can't remember right now, I met the woman who became my wife. She had two daughters from a previous marriage. I decided that it was time to settle down, after all I had children to take care of now. I became a supervisor in that same factory, and, sometimes to relieve stress I would take the country roads home. Guess who started calling me again when I was driving home alone, no other vehicles around. Jesus Christ called me into His life and I accepted on a beautiful country road. It was wonderful! I'm telling you the truth when I say that I had absolutly no desire for drugs, alcohol, sex, etc... from that point on. I LOVED everyone I met from that point on! My eyes were suddenly opened! Everything looked brighter! I couldn't wait to get up in the morning so that I could spend time learning more about Jesus! I couldn't wait to love someone! Well, that's it Norrie. Sorry for the long post. I love the Lord Jesus Christ so much! How could I not! How can I live any longer in sin! In the love of our Savior and Lord Jesus who thought not of Himself but died for the sins of the world, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Norrie, I will praise my God from the rising of the sun to it's setting! I will always be thankful Jesus who died for me and to my Heavenly Father because He loved me enough to pull me from that life! Blessed be His name forever more! I will pray for your brother, and, for you because I know how hard it is to see a member of your family with an addiction and physically abused. Just to share my experience with deliverance. You know, of course, I hope anyway, that I was delivered by Jesus, and, so were some others that I knew then, two I know of for sure. In fact, God used me in both cases. Thank you Father! There are, however, many of those that I was friends/aquainted with that were either never delivered (still doing it or dead)or simply replaced it with another addiction. By another addiction I mean, alcohol, excessive eating, gambling, working excessive hours, a hobby that takes alot of time away from family,etc...... Of course, these are better than the drug addiction, or are they? Only Jesus Christ can provide true deliverance. You know the scriptures Norrie. Here are just two that come to mind right away. John 4:14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." John 8:31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; John 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." Hope this helps Norrie. Please feel free to keep me updated. In Him, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Dear elders in Christ, and, new Christians, and, those of you that are visiting this forum and may not know Jesus Christ as savior, I must say that this thread about smoking pot brings tears to my eyes, not because of the content of the postings, but, because of the subject itself. Please allow me a little liberty here if you will. I am an ex-street gang member, pot smoker, acid user, crack user, and other drugs that I do not even remember. In addition I am an ex-drug dealer. Please, please, please do not take this matter of pot smoking lightly! I must apoligize because I have not read every posting in this thread, but, I have seen some commentary that says, and this is not the exact wording, that smoking pot is "OK", or, "With proper use is not a problem", and, "There are bad experiences and good experiences with smoking pot". It is with a sorrowful heart and tears that I share the following with you because the old man is dead forever, but, I am compelled to post this. I have seen, as well as experienced, both good and bad effects of pot. I have smoked it, eaten it, and made hashish from it. I've been to the hospital with people who have smoked it. I have witnessed brutal beatings of people as a result of pot smoking parties. Orgies are a result of pot smoking. I have seen, and it is with many tears that I write this my friends, little children go uncared for to the point of unchanged diapers for days, unfed, naked, left alone, and "high" from pot being smoked in the same room. When high, the children were disoriented, falling off of furniture at times because they could not sit upright, and not in there right mind. I'm sorry, I cannot go on friends, tears have turned to weeping. There is more though, more that I do not want to remember. Those of you that are Christians and desire to smoke pot please see the following from the KJV. I know what pot can do with the imagination. 2 Corinthians 10 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. Thank you my Lord and my God and my Savior for loving me enough to pull out of that life! In the Love of Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Joe, Thank you for your input! As I typed in my response to daffy, I look forward to seeing some of the postings on this, not seeking opportunity to challenge anyone or begin a debate, but, it has been a question in mind for many years. I looked in different translations because, as I typed in my answer (to daffy): "when I read Romans 9 I see that God has pre-destinated and pre-ordained everything.", I have always wondered why it is written "God changed His mind". I have always been of the mind that "I will not question the Lord my God", and still am, so I have never asked about this until now. Here are the results from the translations I looked into: NIV - "relented" NASB - "changed His mind" AMPLIFIED - "turned from" NEW LIVING TRANSLATION - "withdrew from His threat" KJV - "repented" NEW KJV - "relented from" 21st CENTURY KJV - "repented" ASV - "repented" YOUNGS LITERAL TRANS - "repenteth" DARBY - "repented" Also you write "so it is best to think of "God changing his mind" as an apparent change in time and space....." I have two things to say in response; First of all, and please, please, please do not take offense, when someone says, or types in this case, to me when discussing the word of God "so it is best to think...". I always question, Is this man's wisdom? Is there scripture to back what is being said/written? Second, I do not understand this part "...as an apparent change in time and space.....". Thanks again Joe for your post. I have read some of your posts since I've been a part of this forum, and, have learned from them. In Jesus, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Dear Brother Tim, Blessed be the name of the Lord forever! Praise be to God! Oh Lord my God, early in the morning when I'm riding my bicylce and the sun begins to rise I see the beauty of what thou hast created! All praise be to Jesus Christ who died for the sins of the world! I don't know how many postings you have viewed on this thread. I read in one of the postings that the spirit of God did not dwell in Old Testament prophets. I need some guidance on this. In the OT I see examples of what appear to me to be God's indwelling, or, maybe these are visits? Here are some examples: King Nebuchadnezzar says of Daniel that the spirit of the holy gods is in you. Dan 4:8,9,18 Dan 5:11,14 More examples: Gen 41:38, Exodus 31:3, Exodus 35:31, Numbers 24:2, 1 Sam 10:10, 1 Sam 11:6, 1 Sam 19:20,23, 1 Sam 16:13, 2 Chr 15:2, 2 Chr 24:20, Job 33:4, Eze 11:24, Isa 48:16, Isa 61:1, Eze 11:5. This also leads me to a couple of other question (which I'm sure have already been adressed on the forum. I am going to do a "quick search"). 1)When sin(s) was committed in the OT, were they (Abraham, Moses, David, etc...) "erased" "remembered no more" before the actual shedding of Jesus blood because they had faith of the promise, or, where they, as I have heard some say, visited by Jesus after He was risen and then taken to a place prepared for them? 2) Where did they go before the sacrifice (the shedding of the blood) was made for the forgiveness of sins? Was a different place than "His rest"? Side note for In the Andes and McGracer: Bretheren, This is not a challenge to any postings be either of you. Just a display of my lack of knowledge and eagerness to learn more about God's word. Thank You in advance my Brother, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Grace and Truth, Please forgive me if I misunderstood your bold writing. Hank, Agreed! One can conduct a search in the forum on baptism and learn all of the pros and cons, and , scripture references from A to Z. There is nothing left to be said. In fact, in one of the posts it says something to the effect "let's just agree to disagree and go on" (Did not want to take time to look through all of the posts to get it word for word). The above has nothing to do with the subject of your post, I just enjoy giving my Father prasie and glory and honor at the beginning of my postings. Point made and taken on baptism! Please don't yell anymore. God bless you, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Mc Gracer, You write: "He implied that the gospels are the words of Christ and that the rest of the New Testament are the words of mere apostles and men." I do not see this implication in his posting. You also write: "We should know what we are talking about and be able to back it up with scripture before we label someone else's view as "Bull!" (which Emmaus has done)." Again, I STRONGLY earge you to read at least some of Emmaus' postings before you question his knowledge of scripture. I agree that using the term, or, word "Bull" in this case could have been out of line, and, actually this matter is really none of my business, not trying to back-pedal just stating a fact, but, does labeling someone's view as "ignorant", oh, you meant "lack of knowledge" really help or does it just stir up more contention. Prov 6:16-19 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:..........And one who spreads strife among brothers. Let it not be said of you and I my brother. Finally, forgive me McGracer and please let me start over if you will. Welcome to the forum. I have been a part of it since February 2002 and LOVE IT! I have grown more in these last 5 months than I have in 20 years! The children of God that are part of this forum are wonderful! If I might suggest, and keep in mind this is my own opinion, that you use the "quick search"(upper right)on any subject and read prior postings by other authors, especially; Mommapbs, Hank, Ray, EdB, Tim Moran, Searcher, Markarios, and Prayon. Not saying that these folks are "better" than any other, but I have found them to be blessed by God with knowledge of the scriptures. God bless you, and, again WELCOME to the forum! In the love of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

In the Andes and McGracer, Praise be to God our Father and His Son Jesus Christ to whom all power has been given in Heaven and earth! Just a note, please keep in mind that I am no expert, to say that I am so very THANKFUL for the gospels! Most of the scripture verses that were quoted to me by the person who led my to Jesus were from the 4 gospels. McGracer, You write to Emmaus: "Therefore, to insist that the Gospels have primacy over the rest of NT scripture displays your ignorance (not an insult, but a lack of knowledge)" Let me tell you that even though you say you did not mean this as an insult, I viewed it that way. You have been part of this forum a whole 4 days. I suggest McGracer that you "click" on the author "Emmaus" and view ALL POSTINGS BY THIS AUTHOR and then post, as I'm sure you will, an apology on the comment about Emmaus' ignorance, or lack of knowledge as you say it. My dear brother Emmaus, I am so thankful for you. I have read as many of your posts as time has aloud me and have learned much. Thank you for being part of this forum, and, the family of God. Many bleesings to you Emmaus! In Christ Jesus, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |
