1261 | Why keep the Moral Law? | James 2:10 | srbaegon | 19319
We agree on much. Maybe the difference I see can be stated like this. I infer from your postings that you see the "moral law" something to be followed in daily life. Correct me if I'm wrong. On the other hand, I see what you and many other believers are calling "moral law" as God's minimum requirement for holiness and righteousness. This has been left behind because it can only go so far. I would say the same for the rest of the Law as well. Christ calls us to do better through His enabling. Perhaps you have read Lewis Sperry Chafer's take on this where he compare the Law (love your neighbor as yourself) with the Lord's command (love one another as I have loved you). The difference is enormous. Steve |

That is an interesting statement. My mind went several directions at once for a response. Why do you celebrate the feast days, dietary restrictions, cleanliness regulations, etc? Or better stated: Why do you continue to fulfill what Christ has already fulfilled? Steve |

1263 | Why keep the Moral Law? | James 2:10 | srbaegon | 19307
You misunderstand. I did not ask for proof that believers are to live morally. I asked for verses that state we are to keep the "Moral Law". The whole Law is moral. The whole Law has been fulfilled. Why are there some who teach we must keep a part of the Law artificially termed "Moral Law"? I also am bothered by Christians who have the attitude of doing little. Steve |

1264 | The question stands | James 2:10 | srbaegon | 19306
I agree, except that I would say that the Law was made more precise rather than enhanced. However, you never answered the question. If the Law stands and falls together, why do some Christians subdivide it, and say we need to keep a portion that gets entitled "Moral Law"? Steve |

You still have not proved YHWH is unpronounceable. All you have proven is that the pronunciation appears to be unknown currently. I already knew that. Did I misunderstand you? Did you mean to say that YHWH is currently unpronounceable, or that it has always been unpronounceable? Steve |

OK, you are not a pantheist, but now you sound like a modalist (one who believes there is one God who works in three modes--Father, Son, Spirit). Jesus did not say He was the Father. Jesus said He was God. There is a difference which the Lord Jesus made time and again, even in the verse you quoted (John 14:9). And why do you say God's name is unpronounceable? Ignorance does not equal inability. Because one does not know how, does not mean one cannot do it. Steve |

The "governmental perfection" in the number 12 comes from two sources: 1) Israel as God's earthly people is based on 12 tribes; and 2) The church as God's heavenly people is based on 12 apostles whose names are written on the 12 foundation stones of New Jerusalem (Rev 21:14). Before you ask, "Is Judas Iscariot one that is written, and if not, who is instead?" Let me tell you Scripture does not say. I think Judas was replaced by Paul, but I could be wrong. He might have been replaced by Matthias. Steve |

1268 | When did the day of worship change? | Acts | srbaegon | 18896
No, you have not been rude or vague. Just incorrect. As has been stated before, there ARE verses that tell us the Sabbaths are no longer required to be kept. Steve |

So you are saying the early church was wrong in what they did. I find it odd, then, that God would correct Ananias and Sapphira so stringently, and yet let this matter go unchecked even from the day of Pentecost. Steve |

I think I understand the disagreement between us. I say that "to make them fly" refers to God's desire to loose the bound souls that they might flee. You say the same phrase refers to the those who are doing the capturing. Would you give me a book title or website or something else to corroborate your interpretation? Steve |

Tim, Casiv has a valid observation in that certain numbers turn up again and again in particular areas and ways. However, you make a valid point that men too often take this to extremes as the bible code people did with their work. Steve |

Casiv, You might want to reread Ezekiel 13. The KJV is plain in stating that the Lord was releasing souls being hunted so they could fly from those trying to ensnare them. There is no hint of "teaching others to fly." Steve |

I think God would let them back, yes. God's hand is not too short that it cannot save. Steve |
