1121 | Can a man know God without a Bible? | Rom 10:17 | srbaegon | 41902
Hello Scribe The question I answered was: Can people have an intimate relationship with God without special revelation of Himself whether written or oral? I believe this was the direction you were going in asking your original question. So I don't think we are opposed at all. We don't know what went on between God and Enoch, but we do know that the garden was still in Eden with a cherubim and flaming sword guarding the entrance as a testimony of what was lost. In summary I'll stand by my original answer which assumes the testimony of the garden and Enoch's walk coincides with the plain teaching of Romans 10. What do YOU think? Steve |

1124 | Was Dinosaur elder than Adam by 3 days? | Ex 20:13 | srbaegon | 40661
Hello wang I was confused about the history of dinosaurs as well until I read Job 40:16-41:34 which describes two creatures that could not be anything but dinosaurs. And they were living when Job was alive! A good source for information is www.icr.org. Steve |

1125 | Character descript of moses? | Num 12:3 | srbaegon | 40654
Hello tlcsal Context is everything. The Lord Jesus is saying in John 5:45 that Moses--actually his words (the Law)--will accuse those listening to Him, because Moses was pointing to Christ, but they would not believe. Rev 12:9-10 is speaking of Satan as accuser of believers. These are two different situations. Even though both accuse in order to demonstrate blame, in one case it's deserved (John 5) and in the other (Rev 12) it's not. Steve |

1127 | Can satan read our mind. | Eph 4:18 | srbaegon | 40643
Hello popdzl Because God knows all hearts does not infer that Satan knows the sinful and wicked hearts. You'll need to give us some Scripture to back your thesis. Steve |

1128 | Why do we celebrate Good "Friday"? | John 12:12 | srbaegon | 40639
Hello kalos I wouldn't call them "elaborate schemes" as MacArthur states it. I prefer a Thursday timing myself. It DOES go to show that the fact of the crucifixion is far more important than the day of the week. Steve |

1130 | Why not use Yahweh for LORD? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 40303
Hello JMSCOTT You are changing your argument. Acts 4:18; 5:28; 9:29 all speak of the name of Jesus. We are speaking of yahweh and kurios. I know who the hellenists were. Paul consistently refuted their leanings. What's your point? You wrote: "is there "any" record of of any man or group of men who were inspired to translate the bible?" No one needs to be inspired to translate. People only need to be accurate. It sounds like you are saying that all Scripture must be written in Hebrew and Aramaic. Is your Bible in Hebrew? Steve |

1131 | The Savior | Dan 8:19 | srbaegon | 40301
Hello Judith, But God will not give you eternal life on earth, and then cancel your ticket to heaven at the judgement. Eternal life means life forever--without end. Steve |

1133 | Why not use Yahweh for LORD? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 39973
Hello JMSCOTT Can I prove Paul used kurios instead of yhwh? No more than you can prove he used yhwh instead of kurios. We've never seen the original documents. We have to rely on the faithfulness of those who copied the documents. Can I prove that Paul wrote in Greek? Probably. It was the most universal language at the time. Greece was in power before Rome, and the language was in common usage to communicate between cities and nations. It was ideally suited for the spread of the gospel. The earliest Greek copies of the New Testament are from the 2nd and 3rd centuries. Translations and the Dark Ages had nothing to do with it. As for the arguments on this forum, it's evident that there are many who do not listen to the Holy Spirit's teaching. Steve |

1134 | The Gospel the sole means of salvation? | Rom 1:16 | srbaegon | 39962
Hello John, You and Cyclist are having WAY too much fun without us. One would begin to think that the joy of the Lord is our strength. Jude 1:24-25 (ESV) Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, [25] to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. It's all God's doing: His strength, His enabling, His righteousness, His sanctifying work, His drawing us. Amazing grace! Steve "Tired of people believing the 'Sad, Somber Spirit' is our strength" |

1135 | RELIGION HOMEWORK HELP | Rom 12:2 | srbaegon | 39945
Hello LimeJuice My wife and I saw JC Superstar before we met. We agreed that the only similarity between it and the Bible were the names and the setting. After that it was all hogwash. Andrew Lloyd Weber stated that he wrote this as looking through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. With that in mind, it could never be close to the truth. Steve |

1136 | HOW COULD JESUS BE A DESCENDANT OF DAVID | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 39941

1137 | The Savior | Dan 8:19 | srbaegon | 39940
Hello Judith You wrote: "In this world you might find eternal life, but its only temporary." I must disagree. Eternal life is ours right now. It is not temporary. 1 John 5:11-12 (ESV) And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. Steve |

1138 | Why not use Yahweh for LORD? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 39937
Hello JMSCOTT If Matthew-Revelation is inspired, then it is God speaking through men. If God is speaking through men, then the word "kurios" as used in the Greek text, is an accurate and proper usage instead of "YWHW" or "Yahweh". Steve |
||||||
1139 | Why not use Yahweh for LORD? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 39853
Hello JMSCOTT, I know you believe all Scripture is inspired, but according to your own reasoning only Genesis-Malachi is called Scripture. What does "would mess up the writings with their own tranlations,foul ups, mispellings, bloops, ...blunders" have to do with Paul writing these books. Are you saying that Paul made all those mistakes, or are you saying Paul was correcting mistakes? And what makes you think the Greek New Testament is so messed up? Is it because there is a small difference (less than 10 percent) between all the manuscripts because of scribal error? The Hebrew text has variations between manuscripts as well. Does that make it any less Scripture? And why don't tell us plainly what you really believe about Matthew-Revelation? Where did it come from? What is it's purpose? At least give us that much. Steve |
||||||
1140 | Why not use Yahweh for LORD? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 39841
Hello JMSCOTT Yes, the new covenant is written on the heart. But I add that the New Testament is written on the paper. What I have come to understand is that you believe Genesis-Malachi is inspired by God. However, you have never told anyone what you believe about Matthew-Revelation. Steve |
