1221 | Please help me to find this out for this | Luke 1:27 | srbaegon | 23559
Implicit meanings.............................. You said: "Again you have a greek word "heos" (until) that does not necessarily mean that after a certain point in time, a different action occurred. See Matt 1:25, 1 Cor 15:25." I disagree. The word "until" specifies a condition that was or will be met. When that condition is satisfied, there is an implicit change in action, status, relation, etc. If I say, "I did not have sexual relations with my wife until we married," must I explicitly state that we did after we married? No, because this is a normal action among married couples. It is inferred or implicit in the statement. No less is true of Joseph and Mary. It would be unbelievable to think that nothing happened between them throughout their marriage. Steve |

1222 | what is up with eternity | 2 Peter | srbaegon | 22523
Partial agreement....................... Greetings! God is eternal and timeless. Absolutely. I disagree with your statement that time is a manmade concept. It was God who established the cycle of "day" and "week" in Gen 1. It's true we benefit from these cycles, and God uses them to help us in reference to Himself. Steve |

1223 | why is baptism important | 2 Cor 5:17 | srbaegon | 22506
Information request........................... Could you cite your source for saying that there is this time period between death and the action of the will? I know this to be a common practice today, but I was curious where you found it to be true in Jesus' day. Thanks. Steve |

1224 | What about the Silent Prayer | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 22215
Explanation................................... What you say is true, but if I was standing before my superior being asked what the problem was, I would not even consider interrupting by praying to God aloud then answering the question. Steve |

1225 | Is is right to call money a seed? | NT general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21925
Correction................................. Casiv, If I may correct something here. It's the *love* of money that is a root of evil. 1 Tim 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1226 | A "worse place" in hell for greater sin? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21913
Contrary view................................. I read "A Divine Revelation of Hell" and was disturbed by how unbiblical it was. The ultimate was at the end of the book where the Lord Jesus purports to leave the author alone for a time to suffer the torments of hell. That directly contradicts Scripture. Steve |

1227 | The Blessing of Our Present Protection! | 1 Pet 1:5 | srbaegon | 21704
I'm reminded of Psalm 91, especially the last verses. "Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation." Steve |

1228 | Unbaptized children | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21690
Seeking clarification........................... I apologize beforehand if you've answered this question in this thread. I may have missed it. If the flood waters are the type or picture of sin being wiped out for salvation, what is the antitype for the ark (and Noah and family)? Steve |

1229 | Why do people lose interest and leave? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21534
Support.................................... Sir Pent, Being on a few forums, I know the value of a moderator. I had wondered for some time if there was such a person here. Your desire to see accountability and Christ-likeness (along with suggesting improvements) led me to think you might have been formally established in that position. It appears you were not so established, however I don't see a problem with the way you've handled yourself. You seem to care deeply about the people who come here and the way things are handled. You are correct in taking the brethren to task for ungodly behavior. I've done the same elsewhere. 1 Cor 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. Steve |

1230 | Who is Lucifer/ why was heson of morning | Isaiah | srbaegon | 21060
Your questions................................. * Do you fight against flesh and blood(men) or spirits? Against principalities...powers...spiritual forces in the heavenly places (Eph 6:12) * Do you think satan works alone? No. * Have you studied the locust army? Yes. * Who do you think satan is and wants to be? He is an angel who wants to be God. * Hope this helps. Thanks, but I didn't need help. I was helping you where you were mistaken. Steve |

1231 | Who is Lucifer/ why was heson of morning | Isaiah | srbaegon | 21018
Point of clarification......................... No created being, singly or collectively, has omnipresence. This is a divine attribute. They are numerous, not everywhere at once--big difference. I believe it has been pointed out that these antichrists were men, not spirits. I agree. Therefore, one cannot use 1 John 2:18 concerning the number of evil spirits. There are other scriptures that work better (Luke 8:30 for example). Steve |

1232 | no redemption without shedding of blood | Heb 9:22 | srbaegon | 21012
Are you thinking of Lev 17:11? For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement. Steve |

1233 | Why did no one see this for 1800 years? | Matt 24:3 | srbaegon | 20697
Personal note................................ Thanks Tim, I knew there was confirmation of writings earlier than Darby, but I didn't know what they were. BTW, I haven't forgotten the Amyraldian discussion. Steve |

1234 | Faith apart from reading the Bible? | Rom 10:17 | srbaegon | 20364
Clarification.......................... Hi Bill, I agree the Bible was never incarnate. My statement was more to the point that a Person of the godhood who gave the Word became incarnate. He was/is the embodiment of the written Word. All that the Scriptures contain was/is embodied in human form. Am I making sense? I see you as confusing the truth of Scripture with it's applicability. All Scripture is true and profitable (Rom 2:20; 2 Tim 3:16), but as you have stated (or inferred), the old covenant is done away with to establish the new (Heb 10:9). I know the word was "idiotic." That's why I changed it. I thought it was a poor term. Steve |
||||||
1235 | Faith apart from reading the Bible? | Rom 10:17 | srbaegon | 20359
Comment................................ Yes, we agree. I'm disappointed that one is not able to respond to two posts at the same time to ensure that Bill caught my note as well. Steve |
||||||
1236 | Faith apart from reading the Bible? | Rom 10:17 | srbaegon | 20354
Time Out............................... Kalos and Bill, Let's calm down a bit. Kalos made a good point. I quote with revision... "To imply that somehow the Bible is less true than Christ is simply [improper]." I think this is what Kalos should have been driving at, and I agree. One cannot divorce the written word from the Word made flesh. Steve |
||||||
1237 | How could the Bible be true? | NT general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 20316
Explanation........... The inscriptions as related by the gospel writers does not show order or priority. They simply state that all three were on the inscription. As far as the seeming discrepancy of Matt 27:37, see the other responses. By the way, I think you are baiting us, because in the past you have given authoritative answers and now you are questioning things that the most ignorant unbeliever would not ask. Steve |
||||||
1238 | Why was the samarian woman right? | John 4:16 | srbaegon | 20313
Strong counter view............ Your attack on Tim is unfounded for at least two reasons. 1) Christou is the "transliteration" and Christ is the "translation." Check these definitions in a dictionary. 2) Greek word endings change depending on how it's used in a sentence. If you do a search, you will find Christou, Christo, and Christos all translated to Christ. To insist that Tim use Christou shows your ignorance in these matters. Steve |
||||||
1239 | Is there any practical difference? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 20248
Response........... Yes, that's a good summation of the position. I wish I had a copy of Amyraut's Treatise on Predestination, but an internet search came up blank. It doesn't appear the book was ever translated. Most of my influence in that direction is from Lewis Sperry Chafer. Also, Stephen Lewis did an article found at http://www.chafer.edu/journal/95-03.htm Steve |

1240 | Joe, is the Bible not sufficienct? | Lev 16:34 | srbaegon | 20224
They have nothing to hold to. The Bible is spiritually appraised (1 Cor 2:14-15). Steve |
