122 | what is the history --tectragrammton | Gen 15:2 | ebrain | 181584
Hi Searcher56. What follows may be of interest to you, it is an e-mail I sent over three years ago to a brother in the UK. Subject: The Divine name. I want so much to share what the Lord has shown me with others of like mind. Did you know for example that when you meditate upon the four letters YHWH that form most Holy of all names of our Lord. It can be shown that God is three persons, that Jesus is the second person, that He is both human, and Divine, that He left Heaven to come down to earth, and returned back to Heaven again. All that contained within the one name that we translate as "I AM" Do we really have any idea of the incredible wonder of our Lord. Personally I am overwhelmed with what has been revealed to me in 42 years. Please forgive me for going on like this, I was thinking about the word "Tetragrammaton", this word as I am sure you know means "The 4 letters", and refers the 4 Consonants that form the Divine name, but there are not 4, only 3 one of which is repeated, if we ignore for a moment the last letter, and think only of the first 3, all of which are different (Unique), could this be drawing our attention to, Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit?, If so what about the 4 th letter, does it by being a repetition of the second letter draw our attention to the second person of the Trinity?. If so He is not only in the center of the Godhead, but also outside it at the same time. The only person who can be in two places at once is God Himself. Also is the second appearance of this second letter at the end of the name telling us that Jesus left the Godhead to come to earth, and then in due course returned back again?. Remember verse 13 in John Ch 3, which says "No man has ascended into Heaven, but He who came down from Heaven" (Some versions add "Who is in Heaven") Must close now, more later. God bless you. Edwin. I wrote the above over two years ago, I wonder why our attention is drawn to the Deity of the second person, could it indicate the Father's anticipation of the teaching's of JW's, Mormons, and others who do not accept that Jesus is God ? Every blessing. Edwin |

As far as I am aware, there is no Biblical, or secular record of the Israelites ever having occupied all that land, but believe me some day soon they will.

127 | Lot righteous? | Gen 19:8 | ebrain | 186389
Regarding your concern about Lot, have a look at the question I came across, and my answer bellow. Question: How did Abraham, Issac and Jacob show respect for women? Answer: Abram showed complete, and total lack of respect for his wife, when at Gen 12:-18. Although the Lord put a stop to this, see v 17, it did not stop Abraham doing the same thing all over again see Gen 20:1-11. His son Isaac did exactly the same to his wife, see Gen 26:1-10. No these men did not show respect for women, but treated them with utter contempt, and were prepared to offer their wives to be used sexually by other men, in order to save their own lives. However, despite what we may thing of Abraham, God's judgment of this man is shown bellow. Jam 2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."* And he was called the friend of God. We may indeed have problems with the way in which persons in Scripture behaved, and the Lord's judgment of them, but who are we to question God? Of Lot it is written. Gen 19:22 "Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. Shall the judge of all the earth do right? |

129 | Faith | Gen 32:10 | ebrain | 179027
Hi mae68. The best defination of "Faith", that I know of is found at Hebrews 11:6. where we are told " But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." The first part of this verse presents no problem, as all people know that God really exists, even if they say they dont. The second part which reads "and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Is the hard bit, for it enables you to know if you really are exercising true faith, for example, do you really know that He will reward thoes who do diligently seek after Him? Is that the state of your mind, when you request something in prayer? see Mark 11:24, and 1st John 5:14, you will find that Matthew 6:8 will help you to understand Mark 11:24. May the Lord bless you, and keep you safe. ebrain. |

131 | Should a woman pursue a man? | Gen 39:7 | ebrain | 159659
As far as I am aware, there is no Scripture forbidding a woman to indicate to a man that she is interested, but she must not do what Potiphar's wife did.
132 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163442
Pharoah hardened his own heart, it is unthinkable to suggest that God would do anything to prevent a person accepting Him. Pharoah was considered to be a god by the Egyptians, he allready had a hard heart, and considered that he was in competion with the tribal god of the Hebrews. When it says "the LORD hardened Pharoah's heart", all it means is that an allready hard man was made even harder as a result of what the Lord our God did to the land of Egtpt. It is put this way ,however, so that you have yet another opertunity to exercise faith in God, as required at Heb 11:6. |

133 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163496
Thank you for your post. Would you please read Ezekiel 33:11, and 2 Peter 3:9, and tell me how it is possible to reconcile "I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked", and "not wishing that any should perish, but but that all should reach repentance", with John 12:40, which you quote? Please explain why the Lord who has made it clear that He does not will that any should perish, then appears to be saying that He hardens hearts to stop them from being healed? |

135 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163721
Thank you Steve for your post. I have never said that the Lord did not harden Pharaoh"s heart, What I am concerned with is the implications of this, and how it was done. The means employed by the Lord is made clear in Exodus 7:13. 8:15, and 32. 9:7, and 34. Five times, it is clear that Pharoah hardened his own heart, before at 10:1, the Lord says to Moses "I have hardened his heart". Anyone can harden another persons heart, just try preaching the Gospel to a crowd of unconverted people, and see what reacation you get. At Ex 4:21, the Lord tells Moses what is going to happen at 10:1, If the Holy Spirir has caused it to be recorded five times that Pharoah hardened his own heart, before one reaches 10:1, then there is a very good reason why He has done so. The above is how I understand it was done, the implications thereof I hope to deal with in a another post. I hope Steve that this is of help to you, If you would like further clarification, then please ask. |

136 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163742
Yes you are correct in your understanding of what I was attempting to convey. Take for example the verse to which you drew my attention, i.e. Ex 4:21. in this verse our Lord not only says that He will harden Pharaoh's heart but reminds Moses to be sure to perform all the miracles that the Lord had put in his power. Now why do you think it is put this way?, because it is as a result of these miracles that Moses must perform that Pharaoh's heart will be hardened, after all it is God who performs the miracles, Moses is just the agent through whom it is done. P.S. I will deal with your question on Ezekiel. and 2nd Peter seperatly. Every blessing. Edwin. |

137 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163747
Thank you Steve for your post. I thought I was sending one to you, but sent it (3:14pm to day) to Mark in error, so please read same, and it will put this post into persoective. Ezekiel, and 2nd Peter were refered to as a contrast to John 12:40, this latter verse was drawn to my attention by Mark, who I in turn asked to reconcile it with E and P above. At first glance, it would appear that these verses disagree with each other, and that is exactly why I used the word "appear" in an eairler post. Of course Scripture does not dissagree with itself, and whats more it cannot be made to do so. There must therefore be another explanation, and that is what I wanted when I asked for a reconciliation of these verses. Yours because I am His. Edwin. |

139 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163776
Hi Mark. I have no problem with the first two paragraphs of your post, but what Biblicl indication do you have that Pharaoh had a free will? As Jesus said "you are of your father the devil, and his will you wish to do", John 8:44. Now tell me in what way were you, I, and for that matter Pharaoh any different whilst we were unconverted. Yours, because I am His. Edwin. |
||||||
140 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163777
Hi Mark. My use of the word "appears" is due to the fact that Scripture does not disagree with Scripture, although, it may "appear" to do so due to the limitations of human ability to comprehend. That is why I asked you to help me to reconcile the apparent contradiction of John 12:40, with Ezekiel 33:11, and 2 Peter 3:9. I look forward your reply with eager anticipation. Christian love. Edwin. |
