2 | I have a problem with Mat 27:53 | Not Specified | ebrain | 187636
I have a problem, and would value your help, please read the following verses from the NKJ version, and let me have your advice. Mat 27:50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Mat 27:51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, Mat 27:52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; Mat 27:53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. Mat 27:54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!" It seems to me that what is described in all the verses except verse 53, happened immediately upon the death of out Lord Jesus, and that what is described in verse 53 did not take place until His resurrection. In other words, although the saints were raised (made alive) at the time of our Lord's death, they remained in their graves, and did not come out at that time, but waited until Jesus rose, if this so?. Thank you. ebrain. |

4 | How can the Son at the end be subject be | Not Specified | ebrain | 188625
Within the context of 1Cor 15:24-28, I am unable to comprehend how the Son who I understand is coequal with the Father, and the Holy Spirit should at the end be subject to God, when He also is God? Also what is meant by "God may be all in all". Thank you. pabrain. 1Cr 15:27 For "He has put all things under His feet."[fn1] But when He says "all things are put under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 1Cr 15:28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all. |

5 | Whats the major reson for sunday worship | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 159941
Christians meet on Sunday, because they have allways done so from the start, they wanted to do so because our Lord Jesus rose from the dead on that day, ie, on the first day of the week, see Matthew Ch 28. |

7 | Whats the major reson for sunday worship | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 160169
Thank you David for your note. The verses you have quoted have nothing whatsoever to do with Christian Believers meeting on the last day of the week. All of them in fact refer to Paul a Jew, taking the Gospel to "the Jews first", which he did when all the Jews living ia a particular locality were all in one place at one time, ie in their Synagogue on the Sabbath. If you read the verses you quote in their context, this will become apparent. Please read 1st Corinthians Ch 16 vs 1-5, and also Acts Ch 20 v 7, which clearly indicates that Belivers met on the first day of the week. This day was also refered to as "the Lord's day", see Revelation Ch 1 v 10. May the Lord bless you, and keep you safe, ebrain. |

9 | Number 216 | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 160393
Thank you Hank for your post on 216. I have allways been interested in Biblical numerology, and think that you might just find the folowing of interest. A man said to his friend, I would very much like to be in the center of the will of God. His friend replied, Perhaps we will find advice on this in the center of the Bible. How can we find the centre of the Bible?. Well the Book of Psalm's is near the middle, perhaps it is in there someware, yes but which Psalm do we look for?. I wonder if it might be someware between the longest, and the shortest?. 117 is the shortest, and 119 is the longest, could it then be 118?, yes but in any case how can we be sure that 118 is indeed in the centre. Let us consider that all the Psalm's represent Chapters, and count how many Chapters there are each side of 118. The total in each case is 594, so it must be 118, but which verse?, well if we add 594 to 594 we get 1188, could this be indicating that verse 8 is the one in question?. Well read that verse, and see what you think. More another time. Every blessing. ebrain. |

10 | Number 216 | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 160466
Thank you again Hank, this time for your kind words of welcome. I am a little older than you having been born in December 1931. Oh! and by the way I must be half American, as my father was born in the States. I was not aware of the possible connection between our National Poet, and Psalm 46, thank's for that, it's most interesting. Allow me to share with you somthing about the No 7 which I understand indicates Divine perfection, and completion. A number of years ago I found myself wondering if Biblical numbers could also be found in other translations, for example English. To this end I looked at the very first verse in the Bible namely Gen Ch 1 v 1, and decided to try 'created' as it has 7 leters, (in Hebrew only 4 letters). God said 'I am the first and the last', Hebrew does not have a seperate set of shapes for numbers as we do in English, but ascribes to each letter a number, A is 1, B is 2, C is 3, and so on, now just suppose that we had the same, then the first and the last letters of 'created' would have a value of 3 and 4 which when added together make 7. Now suppose we give neumeric values to all the letters, and add them up, then the total is 308, a number that can be divided exactly by 7 whith none left over. Note, After the 10th letter J, the next K is 20, L is 30, M is 40, and so on up to 100, and then the next is 200 etc, etc. How about that then 3 lots of severn's, and what does 3 indicate but Trinity More later, the Lord bless you,and yours. ebrain. |

11 | Concept of Trinity? | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 160518
You are in good company, none of us understand the Trinity, but then we are not asked to do so. It is beyond human comprehention, all that we are required to do is to accept God at His word, and believe Him. Must close now, more later. God bless you. ebrain. |

12 | Where in verses is Jesus God | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 162074
May I also add Isaiah Ch 48 v 16, and Isaiah Ch 6 vs 1-5, with John Ch 12 vs 37-41, and of course the three claims to be "I AM" found in the 8th chapter of John, at vs 24, 28, and 58. note "he" is not found in the original Greek.
13 | if you are saved are you always saved? | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 162875
Jesus said(John 6:39)that his Father's will was that he Jesus "should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day" (ESV). Now let me ask you two questions, 1. Do you consider that you are a part of "all that he has given me",and 2. Is the Lord Jesus able to carry out His Fathers will? If you are able to answer yes to both questions, then you may rest asured that "once saved allways saved", is a fact. Remember it is Jesus, not you who must not lose your salvation. Read Colossians 3:1-3, and tell me how you can lose what is "hidden with Christ in God"?, and why is "glorified" written in the past tense, when it has not so far happened?. Well from the Divine view point in eternity is has allready happened, don't try to understand it, Just take God at His word, and believe Him. I have many more verses that support OSAS, if you want them, then just ask, however, I feel that the above should be enough, and don't worry about Heb 6:4-6, Scripture does not disagree with itself. |

16 | if you are saved are you always saved? | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 162936
It is clear from Scripture that the Lord does not save everyone, but in fact only a few (Matt 7:14). In John 6:65, it is written "no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father". Are you saying in fact that God grants salvation to persons that He knows in advance will loose it? That He is not able to do what He says He is able to do at Jude v 24? |
||||||
17 | What is the definition of salvation? | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 162980
Salvation is the process by which the Lord our God intervenes into the life of a person, to enable that individual to accept God's way/method of saving him/her from the consequences of remaining unsaved, ie eternal damnation, going to Hell. This is the short answer, I am not able at the moment, due to time constraints to give a more detailed one. |
