121 | Follow up Peter first Pope | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 13075
Have you considered Jesus said "tell His disciples and Peter" because Peter had just betrayed Him and Jesus wanted Peter to know he was forgiven? Same w/John 21:14-15. Jesus asked do you love Me the same number of times Peter betrayed Him-hmmmmmmm!

I checked all 4 gospels, seems like Mary M and other Mary were the first in Matt, Mark, Luke and John, does this mean she should have been the first pope? :) John also mentions he was w/Peter too, then there were the 2 disciples on the road to Emmaus...

That's OK, Nolan, it's to be expected. :) Remember, I was raised Cath. too. I went thru a period of blind allegiance too where I'd fight anybody who said anything contrary to the Cath church, they do a good job of brainwashing. You want to know a really funny thing (more pathetic than funny really), we grew up thinking that unless you were Cath, you were going to hell. I had a friend down the street who was Latter Day Saint, she was taught the same thing and we'd argue for hrs over saying the other was going to hell and we both were-sad, huh. :( |

I know I grew up thinking the church was salvation and hoping that I'd die right after confession-venial sin meant purgatory and mortal sin meant hell. I don't know if it still is, but back then, missing mass on Sun was a mortal sin. If you didn't go at least once during the Easter season, that was grounds for excommunication. They may be more lenient now, I don't know. :) Oh, they used to have those indulgences where you can buy time off from purgatory. Certain sayings were worth 300 days off, others were worth 900, you better believe I'd say bunches of those 900 ones to build up my acct. :) I never thought much about Jesus. I knew the Bible stories about Him but he was basically the big guy upstairs who was too busy or important to worry w/us, that's why you had to go thru His mama, He'd at least listen to her. I'd heard they changed but a few years ago went to a funeral at the same church my cousin, the priest, used to pastor. I picked up a few leaflets in the back and seems they were the same old stuff. I found a novena to our lady of something there. I had that tract for a long time as evidence but it got lost thru the years. Seems like you could still do indulgences too. Some things are just sneaking back in. :) |

126 | Early church support for Peter as Pope? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 13761
Brian, I think it's more everybody is really concerned about you, not that they are attacking you. You do seem to have a blind spot for the Cath church. I understand that, when I was growing up and was still a Cath, I was the same way. But things started happening to make me start thinking maybe I was being decieved and I evenrually left. Then after my bout w/heathenism, I got saved, then became involved w/the faith movement big time. I was as zealous over Copeland as you are the church. But I eventually found out I was being deceived again!!! So, I just chucked that and now go strictly by the Book. I will not let any man or church keep me from Heaven or doing God's work. Maybe you should consider that maybe you have been deceived. Maybe God put you here to let you know and you're fighting Him. Maybe He wants you to open your eyes and see where the RCC is wrong and get out, that could be why you're here. Pray about it, OK. We just might be the answer you're looking for. :) |

127 | Is inter-racial marriage wrong? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 15548
Just curious, birds are different species but they don't mix but aren't dogs different species yet they do mix? Are dogs the only animals that mix species? Are there any cat Heinz 57 varieties or is it just dogs?
128 | Is inter-racial marriage wrong? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 15721
An interesting note I've thought about before is in Genesis, everything was created after it's own kind. In light of what you just said, it does seem that to make a successful marriage, you should have two of the same "kind" of people. It's definately harder to make a success when you are of different religions, cultures, ethnic backgrounds, ecomonic classes, even educational backgrounds. I'm not saying it hasn't been done successfully, but it's a lot harder.
129 | Where was God? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 16661
American Destiny Billy Graham's daughter was on TV this morning and really gave a Solid Perspective to the country... I'll paraphrase from memory, but one of the questions the show host asked her was, "We're all so angry and we're all turning to our faith during this time, but how can a God who is good allow this to happen?"... She responded, "God is angry too when things like this happen! We come to Him now, but we've been so busy telling Him we're angry at Him and pushing Him aside. Telling Him, 'Get out of our schools, get out of our government, get out of our lives', and in gentleman fashion, He has moved away from us, He has lifted His hand of protection and blessing. What we need to do as America is not ask why would God let this happen, but we need to go to God and tell Him, 'We're sorry! We're sorry for pushing you out of our lives, forgive us, protect us and bless us'. |

130 | Is it a sin to play the lottery? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 17039
Let's see, if we follow the reasoning that because it's not spelled out in the Bible, it's OK, I guess we can assume that since there's nothing specifically saying no, it must be OK to smoke crack, shoot heroin, all that kind of stuff, right? I don't think so. :)
131 | Original language of King James bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 17753
Gee, how the language has changed! I wouldn't be able to even begin to understand one of them old texts! That printtype is bad enough but the way the spelled...glad I don't have to read that. :)

It would be nice if posts weren't duplicated but what I'm more interested in is being about to use symbols-that's what drives me crazy!!! It's a pain to write out percent, equals, etc.
135 | Did Adam die from eating forbidden fruit | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 18118
I would think that Adam immediately died spiritually, he was spiritually alive, then he was dead. He was the first person born again in reverse.

Yes. | ||||||
137 | Body/soul/spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 18134
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're thinking. I believe that we are spirit, soul and body. Your spirit is what needs to be reborn, I'm not sure whether "dead" means just not alive in Christ or dead to Christ but will still live in hell, probably. When are spirit is reborn to Christ, then we need to constantly go thru the process of lining our soul (mind, will and emotions) and body up w/our spirit. But I would imagine that a dead spirit will still suffer the pangs of hell, wouldn't you?
138 | Body/soul/spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 18175
That is a good question. I remember Copeland teaching it, made sense, but is it scriptural? Would you say that maybe it started w/his kids then if not him? After all, doesn't having original sin mean we are born w/a dead to Christ spirit so we need to be reborn?
139 | Possible Lockman Forum Improvement #1? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 18271
Don't forget, mine is yes to deleting duplicates but more important to me would be being able to use symbols!!! They are on the keyboard, why can't we use them??? Writing out what a symbol means is a big pain sometimes, esp when you want to copy something that has symbols used in it.
140 | Possible Lockman Forum Improvement #3 | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 18303
OK, Charis, you forced me to the online dictionary to look up emoticons! We can do them anyway. :) I hope that it isn't any big deal to add symbols. Like you said, we can use a dictionary or type it someplace where there is a spell check but symbols are there on the keyboard, they shouldn't be that big of a deal. Maybe it would be nice if we knew exactly which are the ones you can use too. @#*( ) Well, these made it. :) Any more? |
