121 | Should women be teaching in churches? | 1 Tim 2:12 | 2ndSamuel22 | 47760
Greetings fellow believers!! One question I've had about this verse: Why does Paul personalize it? Why does he say,"I do not allow...", instead of,"do not allow?" There are instances in the epistles where Paul writes his opinion(I Cor.7:12--"But to the rest speak I, not the Lord..."), while the rest of the time he writes as if being commanded, and in my opinion, that is what he is doing here. The way I see it: 1) If no man can "show himself approved"(2Tim 2:15), but a woman can, do you think God would want her to hold her tongue, and not teach His Word? Did not GOD'S OWN PEOPLE(Israel) go up to Deborah to be judged? Did He not allow her to lead Barak into battle, since he would not go without her?(Judges ch.4 and 5) 2) If a MAN puts a woman in the position of pastor, can you truly say she "usurped" her authority? Look at it this way: If a female police officer pulls you over, would you question her authority?(I Peter 2:13) I realize a pastor and a deputy are two different professions, but think about it: they are both a form of authority, both positions created by God(Romans 13:1-2). So, if a presiding bishop appoints a woman to pastor, and since both offices are appointed by God, do we not then need to respect that decision? Any comments? I submit this respectfully, and as opinion, and not to create strife. 2nd Samuel 22:36-37 |

122 | Who is qualified? | 1 Tim 6:17 | 2ndSamuel22 | 53644
Dear InTheAndes, Welcome to the forum!! You truly are an example of what it means to "forsake all, take up the Cross and follow Him." I will be "giving up" a week(like it was mine to begin with!!) at the end of July to travel with my church to Jeddito,AZ to witness to the Navajo. I understand what you are saying about how every little thing we do is going to offend SOMEBODY. Example, observing the Sabbath. Is it Saturday, or Sunday? With all the changes to the calendar over the last millenia or so, who knows? How many leap years have been missed? Today's Sunday, how do we know it really isn't Wednesday??? One thing you mentioned in your post caught my eye. You said, "because some christians are "offended" that it was expensive. "You should sell that couch and use the money to feed the poor" blah blah blah, You sell something that you own." Boy, did somebody just step out of Matthew 26 or what? Matt 26:7 a woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at the table. Matt 26:8 But the disciples were indignant when they saw this, and said, "Why this waste? Matt 26:9 "For this perfume might have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor." Be strong, persevere, always seek His face, and continue to be a worthy vessel for Our Lord to work through. He is exalted, the King is exalted on High!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

124 | Can a person ever loose his salvation? | Hebrews | 2ndSamuel22 | 51385
Greetings Stacey!! Read Hebrews 10:14-- Heb 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.(NASB) Notice it says "for all time". If you truly repent, and truly ask Jesus into your heart, and are sanctified, then you have been perfected FOREVER!! What a glorious gift He has given us!! May the Grace of our Lord be with you!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

125 | Can we lose our righteousness? | Heb 10:14 | 2ndSamuel22 | 54247
Dear McGracer, Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we are sanctified, set apart for God's use. Does that mean we can go about our lives doing what we want, living in the sins of our "old man"? No. We must live our lives as Christ. Otherwise, it is not saving faith(James 2:17-19). This is not to be confused with "salvation by works", for those who think it is what we do that "earns" us our salvation. Now, does that mean that if we, as humans, mess up and fail Him(as we are so good at doing), He will cast us from His sight? No. Because, as Galatians 2:20 says, it is not I, but Christ who lives in me, "and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God." And again, Colossians 3:3, "For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." Those who accept the free gift of the grace of God through Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and give their lives to Him, He will "give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand."(John 10:28-29 NASB) God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

126 | Story to go with lesson | James 1:22 | 2ndSamuel22 | 51474
Greetings Playac!! In addition to borgain's reference, I would also point you to Revelations chapter 3, vv.1-6(the Apostle John describes the church at Sardis, known as the 'dead' church) and vv.14-22(Laodicea, the 'lukewarm' church'). Good luck! May the Grace of Our Lord be with you!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

127 | Avoiding paritality in soul care | James 2:1 | 2ndSamuel22 | 53238
Dear mommapbs, At the risk of sounding flip, it appears your minister is more concerned with the 'edifice' of the church, than the 'edification'. I would have to refer your pastor to the Gospel According to John, chapter 3. Nicodemus was a wealthy Pharisee, yet his soul needed tending to(although he did not know it at the time). In fact, he was one of the first people Jesus ministered to, since Nicodemus was not poor in material things, but poor in spirit. That's how I see it, anyway. Do not despair. Take your problem to him directly. And even if he does not minister to your needs, we have a High Priest who has already walked out your solution. God bless!! He is exalted, the King is exalted on High!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

128 | What commandments to keep? | 1 John 2:4 | 2ndSamuel22 | 54693
Dear Hank, While I sympathize with bubbatate's spiritual odessy, she seems to contradict herself. She says that she could not believe this person, or that person to tell the truth about the Scriptures. But then who does she finally trust to tell the truth? Another person. There is no one on this planet who can explain--without doubt or uncertainty--what is contained in the Holy and Inspired Word of God except...God. I, or you, or Brad, or any of us will undoubtedly be in error about some part of Scripture. But, we will understand it better by and by. I've read and heard all the evidence of Christmas and Easter being pagan in origin. While this may be true, look at what God has done with these holidays. These are the two times of the year more people think about-and give their lives to-Christ than any other. As it says, God works everything to the good of His perfect will. Besides, as it says in Romans 14:5-6,"One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God." 129 | Scandal of the Catholic Priesthood | Jude 1:4 | 2ndSamuel22 | 52639
Dear Jeshuafreak I understand and appreciate your passion on this issue. This scandal sheds a pall upon all Christians and Christianity. However, I believe we find one of the underlying causes is found in I Timothy 4:3-- "Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."(KJV) Not to get into a discussion on Catholicism, but adults are sometimes like children: When you don't allow people to do something(priests having to be celibate) or eat something(no meat on Fridays during Lent), it makes us want it even more. That's why God made Eve for Adam, because "it is not good for man to be alone"(Genesis 2:18) But just as I would not want all Christians lumped in with these predators, I would not lump all Catholics in with them either. There are wheat and tares in almost every church. PS: You say "religion is nothing that benefits anyone". That is what has happened over the years. People have attached the word "religion" to any new kind of belief that comes along. Biblically speaking, however, "Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world."(James 1:27, NASB) When James wrote his epistle, religion was considered--by all--to be a good thing. But, as always, man has made a mockery out of it. Continue in praise, lifting up holy hands!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

132 | who is babylon rev 18 | Revelation | 2ndSamuel22 | 53530
Dear Hank, Ha, we meet again..:) I must admit, the weekend following 9/11, I read through the Book of the Revelation. My heart nearly stopped when I read chapter 18. I don't think it refers to NYC, but... 2 Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit... 9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, 12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, 13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. 14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, 17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, 18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city! 19 ...weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate. The world is made rich by the trade they do through NYC, and let's face it, it is home to all sorts of uncleanness. However, it isn't the Babylon of Revelation 18. He is exalted, the King is exalted on High!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

133 | Who are these? | Rev 13:6 | 2ndSamuel22 | 44973
My interpretation(For what it's worth).. I would say "those who dwell in heaven" are the raptured saints. Almost every translation says Antichrist will blaspheme God, His name, His temple, AND those who dwell in heaven(note the implication made when the NASB says "THAT IS, those who dwell in heaven"). As far as Antichrist making war with "the saints", I would say these are the ones who are left behind after the rapture but after which give their lives to Christ(tribulation saints). Rev 13:8 makes the distinction that those who worship Antichrist will be those whose names "are not written in the book of life..." Well, that's my take on it. I hope I helped. |

134 | Who are these? | Rev 13:6 | 2ndSamuel22 | 45297
Mommapbs, I believe Antichrist will blaspheme the physical tabernacle, as well as heven itself. One prediction says that he will enter the Holy of Holies in the rebuilt Solomon's temple, thus blaspheming it. When you refer to my screen name, do you mean my internet screen name? If so, it refers to the four heavenly beasts who "never rest, crying 'Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come.'" So many people focus on the judgment aspect of Revelations, when it paints such a beautiful picture of heaven. God Bless |
