121 | Genesis Creation, a practical example? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 19997
Correction.................. I take it as a literal explanation of creation, so I do not see any contradictions. I think you have me confused with another "Steve". Steve |

122 | Only seal and horse in same verse Rev6:5 | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 20076
The study of how Christ is shown in the Old Testament is a wonderful study. I'll start a new thread for it. As for stigma--I did some searching on the internet for help. I found something you might be interested in at http://www.trf.org.au/default.asp Just go down the center of the page until you find the box labeled Bible Numerics. I don't know about the rest of the website, so take care with what you find. It indicates the stigma was never changed, just dropped back in 6 BC as a letter. I'm still looking. Steve |

123 | Is there any practical difference? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 20248
Response........... Yes, that's a good summation of the position. I wish I had a copy of Amyraut's Treatise on Predestination, but an internet search came up blank. It doesn't appear the book was ever translated. Most of my influence in that direction is from Lewis Sperry Chafer. Also, Stephen Lewis did an article found at http://www.chafer.edu/journal/95-03.htm Steve |

124 | Why do people lose interest and leave? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21534
Support.................................... Sir Pent, Being on a few forums, I know the value of a moderator. I had wondered for some time if there was such a person here. Your desire to see accountability and Christ-likeness (along with suggesting improvements) led me to think you might have been formally established in that position. It appears you were not so established, however I don't see a problem with the way you've handled yourself. You seem to care deeply about the people who come here and the way things are handled. You are correct in taking the brethren to task for ungodly behavior. I've done the same elsewhere. 1 Cor 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. Steve |

Seeking clarification........................... I apologize beforehand if you've answered this question in this thread. I may have missed it. If the flood waters are the type or picture of sin being wiped out for salvation, what is the antitype for the ark (and Noah and family)? Steve |

126 | A "worse place" in hell for greater sin? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21913
Contrary view................................. I read "A Divine Revelation of Hell" and was disturbed by how unbiblical it was. The ultimate was at the end of the book where the Lord Jesus purports to leave the author alone for a time to suffer the torments of hell. That directly contradicts Scripture. Steve |

127 | What about the Silent Prayer | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 22215
Explanation................................... What you say is true, but if I was standing before my superior being asked what the problem was, I would not even consider interrupting by praying to God aloud then answering the question. Steve |

129 | what is baptism | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 26588
Digging yourself deeper......................... Kin, You better stop. Not only are you spreading another gospel (baptismal regeneration) but also spreading a third--that Acts 2 and Acts 10 are something altogether different. This is a long ways from the simplicity of Rom 4:3-5. For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness Steve |

Don't assume I am unfamiliar................... I know your line of thought. Why should I put Romans 4 in context with James 2? Better to work out the meaning of Rom 4 and James 2, then comparing them. Romans 4 is teaching that man is justified by faith alone apart from any work. James 2 is a response to a question concerning the proof of faith in someone's life. Two different subjects. Gen 15:6 (where Abraham is declared righteous upon belief) occurs several years before Gen 22 (where the faith is put to the ultimate test). Do we say that Abraham was yet lost until he was willing to offer up Isaac? I think not. He was declared righteous upon belief. No action was necessary. And it was only after this righteousness was imputed did Abraham receive the sign of circumcision. And besides trying to tell us that salvation occurs at baptism, you state that God saves some in a completely different way. You are preaching two gospels, and both are different from the truth. Objection............................ "Rightousness in the old test. was obtained through the same faith that saves us in the new test. but with different conditions." If it's the same faith, why change the conditions? Why would God decide that what worked from Genesis through Malachi would no longer work afterward? When did it change? At the incarnation? At the cross? At the ascension? At Pentecost? Steve |

132 | what is baptism | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 27295
The Lord Jesus is not a condition. What His death provided was what the OT sacrifices were pointing to (which you pointed out). We no longer have to do those things to be covered for our sins. The condition has not changed--salvation has been and always will be by faith. It is the only condition. The works done are evidence of the reality of the faith in us. Romans 6 has nothing to do with justification. It begins a section addressing our Christian walk. Steve |

133 | what is baptism | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 27547
I would agree that faith accompanied (or evidenced) by obedience saves you. The proper act of obedience for salvation is given in Rom 10:9-10 (believe and confess). Baptism has no part of justification. Steve |

134 | Leviticus 19 talks about not marking you | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 29369
Hi ArtS I'll preface my remarks by letting you know I don't care about tattoos either way. I would say these verses (Lev 19) stand on their own without reference "for the dead". However, I will add that, as Ed stated, God wanted His people to be set apart. He did not want them practicing things the nations around them practice. They were to be different. Christians are to be the same way (Rom 12:1-2). How does that relate to a tattoo today? We live under grace and not law. If I may take Paul's admonition somewhat out of context-- All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. - 1 Cor 6:12 You need to decide for yourself if it is appropriate and whether they are to remain or be removed. Ask yourself, "What is (was) my motive?" Act accordingly. Steve |

135 | Adam and Christ? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 29389
Question and Comment................. Would you explain a bit more of what you mean by "He inhabited a body, apart from the first creation, for this body was without original sin"? Also, Jesus could not sin, and therefore not have a choice to fall. He is God. Steve |

136 | Adam and Christ? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 29538
Thank you................................ Thanks for clarifying. I maintain that Jesus Christ, being God in the flesh, could never have sinned. If He had the capacity to sin, He would have ceased to be God. The importance of the verse you mentioned is that He experienced what we do every day, and because He went through them, He is the perfect representative of man to God. We have assurance His intercessory work is accomplished. Steve |

137 | Church discipline | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 32607

138 | Does the Bible ever lie? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 33364
Good morning What I said was that the Bible does not lie. Scripture accurately and truthfully reports all information God deems pertinent. This information includes lies, murders, thefts, immoralities coveting, and various other sins. The Bible also gives us God's teaching on His view of these things and how to avoid and correct them. Steve |

139 | Thoughts on Romans 9 | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 33536
What Ben is describing is Amyraldism. Moises Amyraut had a different thought on the order of divine decrees which allowed for a hypothetical universal atonement. Steve |

140 | please include specific scripture. | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 34160
Good morning SRN If you speak of those who were religious but in actuality had political or monetary motives, then I might agree. My reading of early American history would indicate that those who came to this world to spread the gospel had good relationships with Native Americans. Steve |
