Maybe you could tell me what the study was about? It doesn't look like anyone else has any ideas either. I'd love to help. . . Merry Christmas!!! Mark |

110 | Is it a sin to be love with your cousin? | Bible general Archive 3 | mark d seyler | 165284
Hi Lost Lamb, I am not aware of any passage in the Bible that prohibits marrying a first cousin (by which I assume you mean the child of your parent's sibling). The stated prohibitions extend to your parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and each of their spouses. Depending on what state you live in, there may be civil laws against marrying a first cousin due to genetic issues. We are required to follow the law of the land where not in conflict with God's Law. Lev 18:6 None of you shall approach to any that are near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am Jehovah. This verse tells us not to become intimate with "near kin", although first cousin is not specifically named. I would recommend that you check the laws where you live, and seek pastoral counsel, before allowing such a relationship to continue. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

114 | is the typeology correct? | Bible general Archive 3 | mark d seyler | 165438
Hi Chusarcik, Since the Bible does not declare this to be a type, we cannot say with absolute Biblical authority. It is certainly interesting that these elements of Jesus' ministry appear as such in Joseph's life. There is much in Joseph's life that aligns with Jesus. In this particular instance, strictly my opinion, this is not a type. The baker and cupbearer had failed to please their master. One lived, and one died. Again, strictly my opinion, I look for a greater alignment of details before I would call something a type. I'm certain others will have other opinions. Love in Christ, Mark |

116 | dream and can't remember dream | Bible general Archive 3 | mark d seyler | 165508
Hi sblonggood1, Welcome to the studybibleforum! On this forum we concentrate on the study of the Bible. We consider the Bible to be the objective Word of God, and that we can know as a certainty that it is God talking to us, and we can know what He is saying. Dreams, while God may speak to us in a dream, would be better discussed with your pastor, counsellor, or home fellowship. If you believe that God is speaking to you in a dream, pray about it, and then leave it for God to reveal in His time. If it is from Him, then He will make it plain. I suggest always making the study of the Bible your highest priority, as this is the primary way God has given for us to know Him. Again, welcome! Love in Christ, Mark |

117 | John6:66 ref. to mark of the beast? | Bible general Archive 3 | mark d seyler | 165557
Hi Tashina, The chapter and verse numbers were not added to the Bible until, if I remember my history correctly, the late 1500's (early 1600's?). The were not a part of the original inspired Scripture. I do find it interesting that this particular passage is about people turning away from Christ, because taking the mark of the beast will be the complete turning away from Jesus. But the actual mark of the beast is explained in Rev. 13 as allowing one to engage in commerce under the rule of the beast, and will be a mark of alliegance to the beast, and to his rule. That the alternative to taking the mark will be death, I think that many will take it simply to avoid execution, against the advice of the angel's warning. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

Hi Tashina, I don't think we will know exactly how this number Six Hundred Sixty Six will relate to the beast until such a time as the beast is actual identified by his fulfilling the prophecies. Many people have fallen away, and will continue to fall away, for a variety of reasons. Myself, I don't see this verse giving us insight into a prophetic time in the church's future. At the rapture of the church, the true church will be removed, and then the beast will be revealed. At that time, those who have come to Christ during the Seventieth Week will be able to clearly see the fulfillment and meaning of this prophecy. Love in Christ, Mark |

119 | RAPTURE | Bible general Archive 3 | mark d seyler | 165569
Hi Kalumba, There are several different answers people give in answer to your questions. Some say pre, some say post, some say mid tribulation. This is a complex subject and requires the careful study of numerous passages of scripture. I believe the Lord will remove His church at the beginning of the Seventieth Week. Romans 11 teaches quite clearly that God had in the past made the Jews His primary representative on the earth, but then removed the Jews from their place, and made the gentile church His primary representative. The time will come when the gentile church will "fill up", and then the Jews will again be His primary representative. It is at this time that the gentile church will be removed from it's place, and the Seventieth Week will begin. Consider this: Matthew 24:42 “Watch, then, for you do not know in what hour your Lord comes.” Matthew 25:13 “Therefore, watch, for you do not know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man comes.” Mark 13:32-37 “But concerning that day and the hour, no one knows, not the angels, those in Heaven, nor the Son, except the Father. Watch! Be wakeful, and pray. For you do not know when the time is. As a man going away, leaving his house, and giving his slaves authority, and to each his work (and he commanded the doorkeeper, that he watch), then you watch, for you do not know when the lord of the house is coming, at evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrowing, or early; so that he may not come suddenly and find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all. Watch!” Revelation 16:15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief.” We watch for Jesus, not knowing when He comes. “He commanded the doorkeeper, that he should watch,” to watch for the returning master of the house. Jesus says over and over to watch because we don’t know when He is coming, and we are to be found ready. Jesus wants us ready at all times, telling us that He could come back at any time, that we should expect Him at any moment. Are we wrong to expect Him at any moment? We know Jesus is coming. We are to watch for Him. Are there prophecies to be fulfilled before He comes? Whether or not you believe the rapture to be imminent, as if you should be watching for it right now, depends entirely on where you place it in referrence to other prophecies. If you believe that the rapture will occur following the beginning of the Seventieth Week, or following the the abomination of desolation according to the common pre-wrath or post trib views, then the rapture is not imminent, it can't happen until these other things do, and there is no point in watching for it until you have seen these othere prophecies fulfilled first. But that is not what Jesus commanded. The basic idea of expectancy implies imminence, in that if my understanding of end-times prophecy were that a particular prophecy or group of prophecies had to happen before the rapture, I would not be expecting Jesus ‘at any moment’. I would be looking intead for the fulfullment of that prophecy. There will be no imminency, and neither will there be expectancy. You will not be expecting the rapture, you will be expecting other things first. There is no scripture that tells us, to my knowledge, whether other people will be aware of the rapture. It seems logical that people will be, for instance someone who is in the same room as believers, who sees them disappear. But that is purely spectulation, and the Scripture seems to indicate that the time of the rapture will also be a time a great cataclysmic upheaval, as the Seventieth Week begins, so people may be paying more attention to trying to stay alive. There is far too much Scriptural evidence to fit on this forum, I will be happy to email to you more for you to look at if you wish, just contact me at markdseyler@yahoo.com Love in Christ, Mark |

120 | RAPTURE | Bible general Archive 3 | mark d seyler | 165571
Hi Kalos, Regarding the earliest recorded date of the teaching of Pre-Tribulation rapture, I know that this quote has been provided to you in the past: "All the saints and elect of God are gathered together before the tribulation, which is to come, and are taken to the Lord, in order that they may not see at any time the confusion which overwhelms the world because of our sins." -Pseudo-Ephraem (c. 374-627)" Since you have posted that the ealiest teaching of the pre-tribulation rapture was in the late 1820's, do reject the authenticity of this citation?
