101 | How many authors penned the Bible? | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 238037
Dear probbpilot, Your questions look like homework or quiz. However, please note that there is no definite answer to all your 3 questions. I would say, should there be any concrete answer, it is only a speculation that would not edify anyone. I would encourage you spend much of your time on reading the Bible for knowing God and His teachings instead. Shalom Azure |

102 | a whatsapp message | Eph 4:14 | azurelaw | 238023
In about 2 months' time, I have received the below whatsapp message (1st in Chinese, 2nd is this version) twice to my mobile by members of our church. It seems to me that it is pretty much widely spread among Christian circles. However, I refused to forward the message to anyone. I am posting it here is not that I agree with it, but to hope that we may have some discussion (with scriptural support) on it concerning if it (what part "yes", what part "no") is biblical. As I think we should be careful in reading this kind of message before sending it to anybody. If you think it not worth/suitable for discussion on the forum, please feel free to delete it. Thank you and Shalom Azure *************** Please read this to the end. My name is God. You hardly have time for me. I love you and always bless u. I am always with you. I need you to spend 30mns of your time with Me today. Don't pray. Just praise. Today I want this message across the world before midnight. Will you help ? Please do not cut it and I'll help you with something that you are in need of. Just dare Me ! A blessing is coming your way. Pls Drop everything and pass it on. Tomorrow will be the Best Day of your Life. Don't break this chain. Send this to 14 friends in 10mins. Why Do we feel sleepy in Prayer, But stay awake through a 3 hour movie? Why are we so bored when we look at the HOLY BIBLE, But find it easy to read other books? Why is it so easy to ignore a msg about God, Yet we forward the nasty ones? Why are Prayers getting smaller, But bars and clubs are expanding? Why is it so easy to worship a celebrity, But very difficult to engage with God? Think about it, are you going to forward this? Are you going to ignore it, cause you think you will get laughed at? Forward this to all your friends. 80 percent of you won't forward this. God said: If you deny me in front of your friends, I will deny you on the day of judgment: When one door closes , God opens two : If God has opened doors for you, send this message to everyone including me.... God has no BLACKBERRY but he's my favorite contact ... !! He is not on FACEBOOK but he is my best friend .... !! He is not on TWITTER but I still follow him .... !! and even without the INTERNET I am always connected to him .....!! He is not on WHATSAPP but he's always online .....!! Forward this if God's been good to you .. |

103 | The Means of Spiritual Growth | Matt 7:7 | azurelaw | 237951
"In the preceding portions of his sermon Christ had presented a standard of moral excellency which is utterly unattainable by mere flesh and blood. He had inculcated one requirement after another that lies not within the power of fallen human nature to meet. He had forbidden an opprobrious word, a malignant wish, an impure desire, a revengeful thought. He had enjoined the most unsparing mortification of our dearest lusts. He had commanded the loving of our enemies, the blessing of those who curse us, the doing good to those who hate us, and the praying for those who despitefully use and persecute us. In view of which the Christian may well exclaim "Who is sufficient for these things? Such demands of holiness are far beyond my feeble strength: yet the Lord has made them, what then am I to do?" Here is His own answer: "Ask, and ye shall receive, seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." The Lord Jesus knew that in our own wisdom and strength we are incapable of keeping His commandments, but He at once informed us that the things which are ordinarily impossible to men can be made possible by God." -------- A. 106 | can i pray for God to help me win a trip | Luke | azurelaw | 237809
Dear Jessie, The Bible does not specifically answer such a question for there was no such thing as Disney world in the time of Bible:-) I would encourage you to read Luke chapter 12. You have to understand that we are taught to fix our mind on God's will instead of things that satisfies our own desire. God concerns much if we bear spiritual fruit for His Glory and He is also extremely gracious to give us what we NEED. Shalom Azure |

108 | Word only appears once | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 237326
Dear EdB, Ah, that would be interesting for Sunday school students to fill in the blanks :-) By the way, do you think the list should be more accurate if it is summarized according to the original language (i.e. Hebrew and Greek) for I checked that some of the words are used more than once, but when it is in KJV translation, it appears only once perhaps. Shalom Azure |

Thank you very much, brother Doc. Azure |

113 | David's sin | 2 Sam 12:7 | azurelaw | 236925
As I reread the chapter, I realized that Nathan's story to denounce David of his sinful act did not concern adultery, but is more on the sin that David made use of his authority to satisfy his sinful desire, and this (within the context) found loathsome to God. His act of adultery seems to be only a means to expose David's greater hidden sin (as mentioned in V1-9) rooted in his heart unconsciously perhaps. Am I understanding it correctly? Thank you and shalom Azure |

Dear Michalcik, Calm down, sir?/madam?. No one here represents the forum since the host "Lockman" is so generous to offer this platform publicly for those who are willing to earnestly and honestly study the bible with postings according to the TOU guidelines. Hope you will stay around, ask questions and discuss. Shalom Azure |

116 | Does the bible talk about hygiene? | Leviticus | azurelaw | 236735
Dear Mustang, I pray that the Holy Spirit works in your son's heart for the salvation work of Christ in him. Just a note for you. The Bible should be read as a whole which is an essential means that God reveal Himself (His characters, nature and works) to us. It does not MAINLY deal with trivial issues in our daily lives (i.e. how to improve our marriage relationship, how to handle our finance, the hygienic problems,etc.). Therefore, when we read the Bible, our focus must be on God. Stay, ask questions and interact with us, and hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

120 | first fruits and the elect | Rev 7:4 | azurelaw | 236591
Dear Brother Doc, I owe you my note of conference on Revelation presented remarkably by a local theologian Dr Simon Chau. In respond to your quote from Rev.K DeYoung, Dr. Chau presented pretty much the same idea on the number of 144,000. Revelations is full of symbolic language (and so much tied with the OT) which targeted to the intended readers (the 1st century Christians)and they (unlike us - those modern people) would not have the problem to understand what John was talking. Dr. Chau said that if we have not read the OT or any idea of the OT, there is no way that we could understand Revelation properly. We also have to put our foot into the intended readers' shoes. Sadly that nowadays, OT is so much neglected on the pulpit that many Christians lack the proper understanding of the Bible as a whole. Shalom Azure |
