Deut. 4:35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; besides him there is no other. Deut. 4:39 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, Isaiah 45:14 This is what the LORD says: "The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, and those tall Sabeans-- they will come over to you and will be yours; they will trudge behind you, coming over to you in chains. They will bow down before you and plead with you, saying, 'Surely God is with you, and there is no other; there is no other god.' " Isaiah 45:18 For this is what the LORD says-- he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited-- he says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other. Hi Ray, When I am writing myself, I also like to capitalise the pronouns. But the only software version I have is NIV. Thanks, and keep up the good work. |

103 | what if i can't pay all of my tithes? | Mal 3:10 | Shelly | 172830
Hi. Because the first 10 percent belongs to God, we pay that as our FIRST priority each pay cheque. If we are going to run short of money, we can cut back on groceries or going out or recreation, etc. - something further down the list. If you pay God first, then you can pay all your tithes. You just need to re-budget in other areas.
104 | where can i find | Matthew | Shelly | 189635
Matt 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'"
105 | Isaiah 7:14 - Virgin | Matt 1:23 | Shelly | 74735
NIV Bible Study Notes say: Isa 7:14-16 'Virgin' is translated from a Hebrew word used for an unmarried woman old enough to be married, one who is sexually mature (see Genesis 24:43; Exodus 2:8; Psalm 68:25; Proverbs 30:19; Song of Songs 1:3; 6:8). Some have compared this young woman to Isaiah's young wife and newborn son (8:1-4). This is not likely because she had a child, Shear-Jashub, and her second child was not named Immanuel. Some believe that Isaiah's first wife may have died, and so this is his second wife. It is more likely that this prophecy had a double fulfillment. (1) A young woman from the house of Ahaz who was not married would marry and have a son. Before three years passed (one year for pregnancy and two for the child to be old enough to talk), the two invading kings would be destroyed. (2) Matthew 1:23 quotes Isaiah 7:14 to show a further fulfillment of this prophecy in that a virgin named Mary conceived and bore a son, Immanuel, the Christ. |

111 | Matthew 16:28 | Matt 16:28 | Shelly | 86491
NIV Study Bible notes says: Because all the disciples died 'before' Christ's return, many believe that Jesus' words were fulfilled at the transfiguration when Peter, James, and John saw his glory (17:1-3). Others say this statement refers to Pentecost (Acts 2) and the beginning of Christ's church. In either case, certain disciples were eyewitnesses to the power and glory of Christ's kingdom. |

113 | Divorce for no sexual life ever - OK? | Matt 19:9 | Shelly | 171080
Hi. When you say she is a believer, does that mean that he isn't? Maybe we need to go back a step further. 2 Cor 6:14 Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness? |

114 | Explain Mathew 19:30 | Matt 19:30 | Shelly | 42367
My NIV Bible study notes says: Mat 19:30 Jesus turned the world's values upside down. Consider the most powerful or well-known people in our world--how many got where they are by being humble, self-effacing, and gentle? Not many! But in the life to come, the last will be first--if they got in last place by choosing to follow Jesus. Don't forfeit eternal rewards for temporary benefits. Be willing to make sacrifices now for greater rewards later. Be willing to accept human disapproval, while knowing that you have God's approval. |

117 | Why did Jesus curse the fig tree? | Matt 21:19 | Shelly | 101250
NIV Study Bible notes says: Matt 21:19 Why did Jesus curse the fig tree? This was not a thoughtless, angry act, but an acted-out parable. Jesus was showing his anger at religion without substance. Just as the fig tree looked good from a distance but was fruitless on close examination, so the temple looked impressive at first glance, but its sacrifices and other activities were hollow because they were not done to worship God sincerely (see 21:43). If you only appear to have faith without putting it to work in your life, you are like the fig tree that withered and died because it bore no fruit. Genuine faith means bearing fruit for God's kingdom. For more information about the fig tree, see the note on Mark 11:13-26. Mark 11:13-26 Fig trees, a popular source of inexpensive food in Israel, require three years from the time they are planted until they can bear fruit. Each tree yields a great amount of fruit twice a year, in late spring and in early autumn. This incident occurred early in the spring fig season when the leaves were beginning to bud. The figs normally grow as the leaves fill out, but this tree, though full of leaves, had none. The tree looked promising but offered no fruit. Jesus' harsh words to the fig tree could be applied to the nation of Israel. Fruitful in appearance only, Israel was spiritually barren. |

118 | Why did Judas betray Jesus? | Matt 26:15 | Shelly | 3907
My Bible notes say: Mat 26:15 Matthew alone records the exact amount of money Judas accepted to betray Jesus--30 silver coins, the price of a slave (Exodus 21:32). The religious leaders had planned to wait until after the Passover to take Jesus, but with Judas's unexpected offer, they accelerated their plans. |

119 | why is this woman likened to a dog? | Mark 7:27 | Shelly | 128563
The NIV Study Bible notes says (on Mark 7:27-28): 'Dog' refers to little dogs or house pets, not outdoor scavengers. Jesus was saying that his first priority was to provide food for the children (teach his disciples), not to allow pets to interrupt the family meal. The woman did not try to argue. Using Jesus' choice of imagery, she pointed out that she was willing to be considered an interruption as long as she could receive God's healing for her daughter. Ironically, many Jews would lose God's spiritual healing because they rejected Jesus, while many Gentiles, whom the Jews rejected, would find salvation because they recognized Jesus. |

120 | BREAK DOWN THE SCRIPTURE ON MARK 10:37 | Mark 10:37 | Shelly | 84646
NIV Study Bible notes says: Mk 10:37 The disciples, like most Jews of that day, had the wrong idea of the Messiah's kingdom as predicted by the Old Testament prophets. They thought Jesus would establish an earthly kingdom that would free Israel from Rome's oppression, and James and John wanted honored places in it. But Jesus' kingdom is not of this world; it is not centered in palaces and thrones, but in the hearts and lives of his followers. The disciples did not understand this until after Jesus' resurrection. |
