81 | bankruptcy? | Ps 37:21 | Shelly | 147311
Psalm 37:21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; I believe you can always repay your debts, even if it is only 5 dollars a week to each supplier. |

82 | Sin no more? | Ps 51:1 | Shelly | 144186
They can ask for forgiveness, but they really need to repent, which means to turn from their ways, and not go back and do it again. The NIV Study Bible notes says: John 5:14 This man had been lame, or paralyzed, and suddenly he could walk. This was a great miracle. But he needed an even greater miracle--to have his sins forgiven. The man was delighted to be physically healed, but he had to turn from his sins and seek God's forgiveness to be spiritually healed. God's forgiveness is the greatest gift you will ever receive. Don't neglect his gracious offer. |

83 | Can catholic man marry a catholic widow | Ps 103:12 | Shelly | 136120
I don't think you will find it in the Bible, because the Bible doesn't even contain the word catholic. Maybe the question should be, "Can a single Christian man be married to a divorced Christian woman?" |

84 | Total Chapters and Verses in Bible | Ps 118:8 | Shelly | 3029
I received this e-mail last September - don't know if it's accurate, but thought you might be interested. 1) Psalm 118 is the middle chapter of the whole entire bible. 2) Psalm 117, before Psalm 118 is the shortest chapter in the bible. 3) Psalm 119, after 118 is the longest chapter in the bible. 4) The Bible has 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and 594 chapters after Psalm 118. 5) If you add up all the chapters except Psalm 118, you get a total of 1188 chapters. 6) 1188 or Psalm 118 verse 8 is the middle verse of the entire Bible. Should the central verse not have a fairly important message? "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man." Psalm 118:8 Is this central verse not also the central theme of the entire Bible? |

85 | Does God really have a plan for my life | Prov 16:3 | Shelly | 74053
Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD'S purpose that prevails. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (NIV notes: Jer 29:11 We're all encouraged by a leader who stirs us to move ahead, someone who believes we can do the task he has given and who will be with us all the way. God is that kind of leader. He knows the future, and his plans for us are good and full of hope. As long as God, who knows the future, provides our agenda and goes with us as we fulfill his mission, we can have boundless hope. This does not mean that we will be spared pain, suffering, or hardship, but that God will see us through to a glorious conclusion.) |

Proverbs 23:2 and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony. |

87 | beating your child with a rod | Prov 23:13 | Shelly | 25610
I think there is a lot of difference between beating a child and disciplining them. Proverbs 13:24 He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him. Proverbs 22:15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him. Proverbs 23:13-14 Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die. [14] Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death. Proverbs 29:15 The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother. |

88 | Contradiction? | Prov 26:4 | Shelly | 73482
The NIV Bible study notes says: Prov 26:4, 5 These two verses seem to be in contradiction. But the writer is saying that we shouldn't take a foolish person seriously and try to reason with his or her empty arguments. This will only make him or her proud and determined to win the argument. In some situations, you ought not to even try to answer a fool, for there is no way you can penetrate his or her closed mind. You may, in fact, be stooping to that person's level if you do choose to answer. Such a fool will abuse you and you will be tempted to abuse him or her in return. There are other situations where your common sense tells you to answer in order to expose the fool's pride and folly. |

90 | Explanation on Isaiah 40 vs 31 | Is 40:31 | Shelly | 39547
NIV study Bible says: Isa 40:31 Hoping in the Lord is expecting that his promise of strength will help us to rise above life's distractions and difficulties. It also means trusting in God. Trusting helps us to be prepared when he speaks to us. Then we will be patient when he asks us to wait and expect him to fulfill the promises found in his Word. |

91 | bible reference please | Is 61:1 | Shelly | 65848
NIV Bible study notes: Isaiah 61:1, 2 Jesus quoted these words in Luke 4:18, 19. As he read to the people in the synagogue, he stopped in the middle of 61:2 after the words, "to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor." Rolling up the scroll, he said, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing" (Luke 4:21). The next phrase in 61:2, "and the day of vengeance of our God," will come true when Jesus returns to earth again. We are now under God's favor; his wrath is yet to come. |

93 | for my shame he'll give me joy in 7 fold | Is 61:7 | Shelly | 130728
Found a scripture about double, but not seven. Isaiah 61:7 Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs. |

Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 2 Thes. 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. |

Daniel 10:6 (NIV) His body was like chrysolite, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude. Dan 10:6 (Life Application Notes)Chrysolite is a translucent, semi-precious stone. |

96 | Powder of the Holy people broken??? | Dan 12:7 | Shelly | 86489
NIV Study Bible notes says: "The power of the holy people" seems to be crushed again and again throughout history. God's recurring purpose in this is to break the pride and self-sufficiency of his rebellious people and to bring them to accept him as their Lord. |

97 | Living together when you are not married | Amos 1:1 | Shelly | 1671
Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Matthew 19:5 and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? Mark 10:8 and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one. Ephes. 5:31 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." |

98 | second time why? | Jonah | Shelly | 35654
My NIV Bible study notes say: 3:1, 2 Jonah had run away from God, but was given a second chance to participate in God's work. You may feel as though you are disqualified from serving God because of past mistakes. But serving God is not an earned position--no one qualifies for God's service. But God still asks us to carry out his work. You may yet have another chance. |

100 | what are storehouse?can you divide tithe | Malachi | Shelly | 37708
3:10 The "storehouse" was a place in the temple for storing grain and other food given as tithes. The priests lived off these gifts. Malachi 3:10 says: "Bring the WHOLE tithe into the storehouse.... "Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty,..." I believe that the whole tithe should be paid first, then you can give extra to the poor or family. |
