I need some help understanding closed communion. Closed communion being that only memebers of the local Church (those with their names on the roll) can praticipate. Is this what it is? Why is it practiced? Is there any scriptural basis to it? Can anyone help me? I did a search and came up with nothing. later...wdc |

2 | Woman's place in Heaven | Bible general | wdc | 241585
I note here that there are 3 heavens. 2 Corinthians 12:2 NAS I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago -whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows -such a man was caught up to the third heaven. |

5 | What is the Holy Spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | wdc | 4051
Elijah, where are you getting this stuff? This is the most horrible abuse of the Holy Scripture's I may have ever heard. Please take time to pray and meditate on the Word before you answer. The Bible is very clear on Who the Holy Spirit is, John 14:17-18. (17) Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (18) I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity, in other words, He is God. The angels are created beings. (Heb 1:5) For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? There is no way from the Bible that angels can be made to be equal with God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. later...wdc |

8 | tattoos and piercings of the body | Bible general Archive 1 | wdc | 12613
I'm not trying to incite arguement or anything. My daughter wanted a tatoo, and we discussed this verse and passage at great length. Also I prefer my longer than most chuch people are comfortable with, and they often quote 1 Cor. 11:14 to me, and I point out 1 Cor. 11:16 to them. My point is that people should be very careful taking a verse to defend something like or dislike without studying the context carefully. P.S. I don't have a beard, but it is not for lack of trying, I really want one, but don't have enough whiskers. later...wdc |

9 | Is anything above God's name? | OT general | wdc | 4689
If you read the KJV, it says this. (Psa 138:2) I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. This is the only thing I know of that the Bible says is exalted or magnified above God's name. I would like to hear more on this if anyone has any other answers. I would also like to know why you asked this question. later...wdc |

Thanks JVH, I like things simple also. To me, most things are black and white anyway and there is very little middle ground. Guess that's why I stay in trouble much of the time. later...wdc |

11 | Did Mary and Joseph have more children? | NT general Archive 1 | wdc | 2955
Yes. (Mat 13:55) Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? Mary and Joseph had four other sons that the Bible records. later...wdc |

12 | Renewal AGAIN to repentance? | NT general Archive 1 | wdc | 25180
I'm kinda jumping in in the middle here, but I wanted to say something about crossing the line. I have heard this all my life, people saying what sin or how many sins will cause me to lose my salvation. To me the answer is obvious. If you can lose your salvation, it can not be lost by a sin or any number of sins. Your were not saved by stopping sin in your life or by not committing a certian sin, YOU WERE SAVED BY FAITH in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If you can lose your salvation, the only way it could be lost would be to lose your faith, or stop believing that the death and resurrection of Christ is sufficent. I hope this makes sense, it does to me. Eph. 2:8 "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God." We are not saved by works, we are not saved by stopping sin, we are saved because we took at His word that He would accept us because of what Jesus did on the cross. later...wdc |

14 | why | NT general Archive 1 | wdc | 51841
If there is no scriptural basis for it, why do Bible believing people and Churches practice it? I cannot see into a man's heart, how can I know that he/she has unrepentant sin so as not to serve them? I see some serious problems here. later...wdc |

15 | The reason why I'm asking this question | Genesis | wdc | 2959
The verse you are refering to is this: (Gen 2:7) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. It does not say God put His mouth over Adam, but I don't know how else He could have done it. As for the why, I believe that man is created in God's image in part because when God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, God imparted to man His nature. When man sinned, he lost that nature, that is he died spiritually, that is why we must be born again, to recieve the Holy Spirit, or God's nature again. Compare (Gen 5:3) And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: Seth was born in Adam's image, not God's. We are all God's creation, but we are not God's children until we are born again in the image of God, receiving His Spirit. Hope this helps. later...wdc |

18 | why did God create the world | Gen 1:1 | wdc | 1061
Something I've been thinking about for a while. God is all knowing, and a loving, merciful God. So He knew all the suffering, pain, and evil that would happen in the world. Why then did He create it in the first place and put mankind on it. Why not just not create it, if He had not created it, we would have never none it, and look at all the suffering and evil that would have been avoided. Anyone have any thoughts? wdc
19 | why did God create the world | Gen 1:1 | wdc | 1590
Dear bcbloyd, I want to thank you for your response to my question. I don't know if I have ever heard anything quite like that. Obviously, you have thought about this and have sought God's heart. Again, I thank you, you have helped me greatly. I was not doubting or questioning God, I just think about things a lot, and always ask questions. I have printed your reply and will keep it in my Bible. God bless. wdc |

20 | 2 Timothy 2:23 | Gen 1:1 | wdc | 3801
Hello to everyone responding to this posting. I have gotten a lot of answers, most of them dealing with how or why there is suffering. That is not my question. I pretty much understand why there is suffering in the world and how to deal with it. My question is why did God create the world in the first place. If the standard answer (the one I get from books and those that I have asked) is right, because God wanted a people to worship Him from a willing heart, would that mean God had needs, and therefore not perfect? I mean the angels worship Him willing, some choose not to and followed Lucifer in the fall. If He created the world to show His mercy and grace, wouldn't that show a need in Him again, making Him less than perfect? These are just examples, and there may not be an answer to my question this side of heaven. It is something I thought about for a while and thought maybe someone else had to and could help me. Whatever the answer, it does not change the fact that God loves us and gave His Son so we can live in Him. And it does not change the fact that in Him, we can overcome the works of Satan in our lives. Thank you all for you answers and thoughts. later...wdc |
