22 | 2 Timothy 2:23 | Gen 1:1 | wdc | 3979
Hello WtNs, Mostly the cosmos, as in why start all this in the first place. I understand the benefit of suffering, how God uses it in our lives, for example pruning (Jn. 15:1-5). If God created the world to put man here because He wanted fellowship or someone to love Him willingly, doen't this show weakness on His part and not perfection. I've always been taught that God is self-sufficent. I am not doubting God, just curious. Thanks for your reply. later...wdc |

24 | why did God create the world | Gen 1:1 | wdc | 241592
We can help others after we have been through trails ourselves. 2 Cor. 1:3-5 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. |

26 | How did Noah know about clean animals? | Gen 4:5 | wdc | 2977
The Bible does not say exactly, but I think God must have told them what to sacrifice and what not to. Remember Cain's sacrifice (Gen. 4:5)that was rejected, I know there are other thoughts on this, I think I read a group of postings about this on the forum, but I am convinced that God did not except Cain's sacrifice because it was bloodless. But to answer your question, God would not ask us to do something like this and not tell us what was acceptable and what was not, so He must have told them. later...wdc |

27 | Who were the son's of God in Job? | Gen 6:4 | wdc | 242

28 | Who are the sons and daughters? | Gen 6:4 | wdc | 1993
Just an observation here on the Nephilim in Gen. 6:4. Everyone always assumes that they were the result of a union between the daughters of men and the sons of God. The text does not say that, notice closley: (Gen 6:4) There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. It says they were there in those days and after that.... I'm not sure they were the result of the activity going on here, or if they were a race of people or beings that were already there. It does there were children born due to the union, but the Hebrew nephiyl is not used of these children. Just a thought. later...wdc |

30 | How did they do it? | Ex 7:10 | wdc | 28676
Beth7, Satan can do all kinds of things and empower his servants to do lying signs and wonders. (2 Th 2:9) Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, We are warned over and over not to be deceived, because Satan is a master of deception. Remember Satan and his servants can even transform themselves into ministers of righteousness and angels of light, 2 Cor. 11:13-15. Hope this helps. later...wdc |

31 | When ever you want to | Ex 21:10 | wdc | 102734
Here is what puzzles me. All these guys in the Bible were used of God and even in David's case was called a man after God's own heart. But adultry didn't seem to be a problem to them. I mean David was just out one night starring at the stars or thinking about some kingly business, and saw this woman and decided to have sex with her. Naturally it led to other problems, but what was he thinking? Adultry was wrong then, how could he have so easily done this? And Judah in Gen. 38, he was just going down the road to work and saw a woman of the side of the road and decided to have sex. But today such a big deal is made over a pastor that is divorced or married to a divorced woman (it's almost as if that is the only qualification given in the N. T. for pastors and deacons)that it causes me to wander, if the men in the O.T. could take sex so lightly and God still blessed them and used them, how come it is so serious in the N.T.? It seems that Paul mentions sexual sins every few verses. I am not having immoral thoughts or wanting another wife, I have just always wandered about this. Any ideas or thoughts? wdc |

32 | When ever you want to | Ex 21:10 | wdc | 103565
You make a good point. I agree that it was because of the hardness of the heart that these things were done, as is the case with most, if not all sin. I still have a problem with the frequency that we see acts of sex outside of marriage in the O.T. We never read in the N.T. that Paul was going down the road to Colosse or some place and stopped off by the way because he saw some woman on the side of the road. I think maybe the difference could be the presence of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the N.T. wdc |

33 | God dwells in the praise of his people? | Ps 48:10 | wdc | 28252
Hello Margie, Ps. 22:3 is the verse you are looking for. The KJV says God "inhabitest the praises of Israel." In the Hebrew, the word inhabitest (Strong H3427) means; properly to sit down (specifically as judge, in ambush, in quiet); by implication to dwell, to remain; causatuvely to settle, to marry. So I think it is safe to say that God dwells in our praises. later...wdc |

34 | Why one word for wind and spirit? | Ps 51:10 | wdc | 2001
I don't know if I can word this correctly, but my question is, isn't there another word for spirit besides wind, the Hebrew word ruwach meaning wind. Even in the N.T. the word for spirit is wind or breath. When they were talking everyday and some one said something about the Spirit of God, did he say the (ruwach) wind of God, and then when a storm came up, did he say the (ruwach) wind is blowing? I know this sounds dumb, but I'll never know if I don't ask. |

35 | Why one word for wind and spirit? | Ps 51:10 | wdc | 2025
Thanks for this study, I will go back and look into some more. I also am curious about John 6:63. (John 6:63) It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. I notice how Jesus likens His words to Spirit. I have heard some say that the Word and the Holy Spirit are the same, at least in operation. I don't know about that. I know that the Spirit uses the Word, Eph 6:17 "the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God". Also Jesus is the Word, John 1:1. Does anyone have any thoughts on John 6:63? later...wdc |

36 | when is prophecy near or far? | Isaiah | wdc | 2747
The passage in Ezekiel 12:21-28 is concerning them at that specfic time. Some of the people were already in captivity in Babylonia and those that were still Jerusalem were only there because the king of Babylonia, Nebuchadnezzar, let them stay. 2 Kings 25 bears all this out. The prophecy was that the entire city would be destroyed and the rest of the people would be go into captivity also. But those left in Jerusalem said it would not happen becuase it it had taken so long. So God said since they doubted His word, He would bring that specfic prophecy to pass right then. And so He did. Many prophicies are given that have no date or time limit set on them, such as about the end days. Some of Daniels, Ezekiel, and the book of Revelation have not been fulfilled yet and we don't know when they will be. But God knows and has set the time for them to come to pass. It is for us to believe His Word, watch and be ready. The 2 Kings 10:30 prophecy was fulfilled in the kings that followed Jehu. They are found in 2 Kings 10:35; 13:1,10; 14:23; 15:8,12. It gets confusing when you try to sort all of the kings out, they did not follow strict geneology rules, but they are all there, some of the kings of Isreal and Judah had the same names and so forth. Hope this helps. later...wdc |

37 | Where is Plan of Salvation Found? | Isaiah | wdc | 4059
Hank, When I read your question, the first passage that came to mind was 1 Cor. 15:1-4. (1) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;(2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.(3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;(4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Paul here sets forth clearly and concisely the gospel that he preached. If you are speaking to a group of people that are non-Christians, most likely they are un-Churched as well and not fimiliar with Church words either. That is way I like this passage. The passage also leads to good questions they may ask or that you can lead into. Why did Jesus die or how does His death affect us? What does His burial and resurrection have to do with anything? Why according to the Scriptures? Three days? I am used to these questions because I use this passage quite often in circumstances you are refering to. You can take these questions and teach the whole Bible if you have time. later...wdc |

38 | what good is it to Ahaz | Is 7:14 | wdc | 102865
I agree with the virgin birth translation. But if it is only a prophecy of the virgin of birth of Jesus, (and it is a prophecy of the virgin birth of Jesus) what good is it for a sign to Ahaz? wdc |
