1 | "when thou art converted" | Not Specified | New Creature | 40494
In Luke 22:32 Jesus says to Peter: "But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." Does the phrase "when thou art converted" imply that Peter was non-converted at this time? Secondly, if Peter himself was not a convert to Christ Jesus, would that mean that at this time none of the other disciples were converts either at this juncture? |

2 | When did the Apostles receice salvation | Not Specified | New Creature | 40628
At what point in the life of the apostles, can we prove Bibically that they were converted (saved)? Was it when they were chosen by Jesus? Was it at the transfiguration? Was it at the resurrection? Was it at Pentecost? Or was it at sometime I failed to mention. Could you please give Scripture to prove why you believe the way you do. We had a discussion about this question in small group Bible study, and no one seemed to have a clear answer. I would appreciate all your help.
3 | Cremation | Not Specified | New Creature | 40730
I read all the replys on the topic of "cremation" and observed that almost all find no scriptural support to declare that cremation is unBibical. Most people cited the case of King Saul, and how his body was burned. However I cannot find one instance of any godly person in Scripture who chose for himself cremation. Now I too believe that God can ressurect the body whether it is burned or buried. I realize that many godly men and women were burned at the stake. However they did not choose to be burned. So my question is, should a believer who has the option of burial or cremation, choose cremation or Christian burial. And I even recognize that the term "Christian burial" has no Scriptural support. Anyone have any thoughts on this? |

5 | Cremation question simplified | Not Specified | New Creature | 40817
Maybe my previous attemps to acquire an answer were hampered by making my question too difficult, so let me try to simplify my question. Question: Can anyone give me a Scriptural example of a godly person who chose cremation over burial? |

6 | Predestination | Not Specified | New Creature | 41631
Is a man predestinated by God to salvation because he believes in Christ or is he enabled to believe in Christ because he is predestinated? |

7 | How did sin originate | Not Specified | New Creature | 43824
I read in Gen. 1:31 "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very good." Everything God created was very good. There was nothing bad about anything He created. I believe that! I also believe God created Lucifer and God didn't create Lucifer into a sinner. However the the first sin is attributed to Lucifer. So what EXACTLY caused Lucifer to commit the first sin, who later tempted Adam and Eve to sin, since we know that God is not the originator of sin and does not tempt anyone? How did the temptation of Lucifer come about or originate? James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: |

9 | Is OT still applicable for NT believers | Not Specified | New Creature | 45726
What percentage of the Old Testament is applicable to New Testament Christians? example: Deut. 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, [and] that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he [is] thy life, Does this text and others like them which are too umerous to mention still apply to believers living in our times, or were they only for Old Testament saints? |

10 | Difference between tithes and offerings | Not Specified | New Creature | 47349
I have a question about tithes and offerings. I DON'T want to get into a long drawn out debate about how tithes are not part of the New Testament. I personally feel led by the Lord to tithe and make offerings unto the Lord. The New Testament says: "God loves a cheerful giver" I enjoy giving cheerfully from the abundance the Lord has given me, of any time, talents, and tithes. My question is: What is the difference between a tithe and an offering? I tithe 10 per-cent of my after tax with-holding net amount, but feel the desire to give beyond the 10 percent. I think anything beyond the 10 per-cent (which rightfully belongs to the Lord anyhow) is an offering. And of course I also believe it's ALL His anyways. He has just given me stewardship over all He has graciously blessed me with. So is the offering anything I give over the first 10 per-cent? |

15 | sin unto death | Not Specified | New Creature | 50981
The small group Bible study I am involved in, is about to discuss the following two verses. I would appreciate the various opinions concerning the questions I will ask concerning these two verses, from as many of you as possible. I did a community search on this but did not see all these questions answered, which I believe are necessary in order to get a correct understanding of what is meant by these verses. 1 John 5:16-17 If any man see his brother sin a sin [which is] not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. My questions concerning these two verses are as follows 1) Who is the intended audience of 1 John? 2) Is the death mentioned in these two verses physical or spiritual? 3) Is the word "brother" in verse 16 refer to a believing brother - yes or no? 4) what is this "sin unto death" refer to? 5) Is the article "a" before the word "sin" found in the Greek? Love and peace to you |

17 | blaspheme the Spirit | Not Specified | New Creature | 52378
my question(s) concern the phrase "blasphemy against the Spirit" which is mentioned in Matthew 12:31-32 Question 1 - is this something that a saved person or an unsaved person commits? Question 2 - Wouldn't it be necessary to first know, or have the indwelling presence of the Spirit within you before you can blaspheme Him? |

18 | If any man destroys the temple | Not Specified | New Creature | 55447
I have a question concerning the following verses - 1 Cor. 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. Do these verses indicate that we as the redeemed people who have the indwelling presence of Holy Spirit and are called the temple of God can personally defile the place within us in which God resides, to the point which God will destroy the person who defiles the temple, and bring about ruin upon ourselves? I know some people will want to quote verses 11-15 to me, but after reading this chapter I honestly don't see how those verses tie in with the verses that follow. Can someone please explain? |

20 | what does water refer to? | Not Specified | New Creature | 57275
John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." (NASB) Concerning the above verse, I have heard various thoughts about what the term "born of water" means Some think the "water" refers to water baptism Others think the "water" refers to our physical birth - the watery womb of our mother from which we were born of earthly parentage. Others think "water" refers to the word of God as the washing element. So what are the thoughts of this community concerning the meaning of "water" in John 3:5? The more responses the better Could you also please provide an answer as to why you believe as you do about this? |
