1 | THE FLOOD-FACT OR MYTH? | Gen 6:1 | hadassah | 114158
Noah's Flood is FACT! There are evidences of a devastating world-wide flood given throughout the earth. Evolutionists try to explain these with the theory of an ice-age. I'd be interested in how much study you've already done on this. There are volumes of books and articles already available. You can also check out www.icr.org. for some reliable information. One interesting fact I've dug up: Every known culture in the world has a "legend" regarding a world-wide flood. I will have to say, that being a Creationist and one who takes the Bible literally, I do have a problem with the term "Biblical Myth". One pressing topic you may want to consider including is the condition of the earth before the flood and the devastation done to the earth by a worldwide flood. |

3 | Strict Observance of Bible Versions? | 2 Tim 3:16 | hadassah | 114036
Comparing the Book of Mormon with the Bible is comparing apples to oranges. The Book of Mormon was written in 1830 in English. The Bible was written by many different authors spanning thousands of years mostly in three different languages, the most recent of which was nearly 2000 years ago. If you look at any major book written in a language other than English, you may find several different versions available because they're different translations provided at different times (i.e., La Miserables). You also must remember that some translations were done with the manuscripts available, sometimes from the original languages and some depended on the Latin Vulgate, a translation from the original. Sometimes it helps to use different translations because words exist for which there is no perfect word in another language or there may be a couple of choices. Regardless of how you look at it, God has done a marvelous job of preserving the meaning of His Word. It was written by different authors of varying backgrounds, in different languages, in different times and yet it is one cohesive message. Praise God! |

4 | Gen 4:5-8 | 1 John 1:9 | hadassah | 114034
Yes, the verse above answers both questions, forgiveness and cleansing. Unfortunately, Cain's problem was not God's attitude toward him, but his attitude towards God. Cain's sacrafice was unacceptable and God warned him in verse seven regarding the nature of the sin in his life. Cain did not heed God's warning resulting in the murder of his brother. God's love toward Cain can further be demonstrated by the mark of protection He placed on him in verse 15.
5 | Will we be married in God's eyes | Bible general Archive 2 | hadassah | 114015
Dona, Your question is a hard one to ask. It suggests the situation bothers you if you're looking for reassurance. If the situation were right or your proposed solution were right, I don't think you'd be asking this question. Throughout the Bible, we are told to live and walk honestly in the sight of all men (a few Scriptures -- Rom 12:17; 2 Cor 8:21; 1 Pet 2:12). When you talk about the obstacles to getting married, they sound so big and I'm sure they seem that way, but maybe you should focus on the God you serve. He is bigger than your problems. It sounds as though in order to be legally married, in the eyes of the world, you'll have to take a leap of faith, maybe that is what God wants for you. I can't promise it will be easy, God doesn't either. In fact, most of the epistles we quote were written by men who suffered and died for their beliefs, but not one of them would have chosen a different path for thier own lives. In the midst of their pain and suffering, they knew peace and joy because God upheld them. I speak from some experience. I had been miserable married twice and was living with a wonderful man. I was convicted of the sin and finally overcame my own fear of failure in marriage and we were married. My life isn't easy, but I do feel a great amount of peace and joy -- an aspect that was missing from my life. Not to mention that my husband has grown tremendously in the Lord. Doing the right thing was the right thing to do. |

6 | How old was Daniel? | Dan 9:4 | hadassah | 113906
The first verse of Chapter nine states that this is in the first year of Darius, believed to be around 539BC. If the captivity occured around 605BC, as believed, and Daniel would have been a teenager then, he would be nearly 80 years old when this occurred, I'm not sure if he would have written it at that time or later.
7 | what does the water refer to in john 3:5 | John 3:5 | hadassah | 113902
Many Bible scholars believe that the water expressed in this verse refers to a natural birth (babies in the womb -- see verse 4). That would make the next verse show a parallel. Water vs. Spirit in verse 5 and Flesh vs. Spirit in verse 6.
8 | Did God know they would sin? | Deut 30:15 | hadassah | 113900
God made us to be thinking and reasoning, not just automatons that do His bidding. He made even the angels able to choose whom they would serve demonstrated by Lucifer's fall (Isa. 14:13-14). I believe that God put the tree there to allow them a choice. The principle is repeated in (Deut 30:15-20.) Sinful man cannot look on the face of a Holy God (Ex 33:18-23) so we need to be free of the sin Adam willingly entered into (I Tim 2:14). Yes, God knows everything. In fact, the first foretelling of Christ (given as a sacrafice for sin) was given through God Himself at the time of the fall (Gen 3:15). |

9 | Is the Law altogether invalid? | Matt 5:19 | hadassah | 113895
In Matt 5:17, just two short verses before, Jesus states that He is come to fulfill (complete) the law, not destroy it. And He did complete it in the sense that He paid the penalties for all the sins that the Law points out to us. The purpose of the Law is to help man acknowledge his need for Christ's sacrafice. Gal 3:21-25 states that the Law is by no means contrary to the promises of God, but the law could not make us righteous. Instead it revealed our sin and our captivity to sin. Faith in Jesus Christ, frees us both from the bondage to sin and the penalty to sin (because Jesus paid our penalty). Here we get to the purpose of the law, it is to lead us to Christ. But once we become Christians and are no longer bound to sin, the expectation is for us to not only live to the letter of the law but to abide by its spirit (i.e. we are not just to abstain from adultery, but also from thinking of it in our hearts). This allows us to live in liberty and in holiness all at the same time. |

10 | WHERE IN THE BIBLE SAYS GOD BEFORE WIFE | Mark 7:11 | hadassah | 113880
The Bible doesn't say to put your family before God. It states to put God before all others, but this will enhance a man's ability to lead his family and be a better father and husband. Read on. Deut 6:5 -- The first of the ten commandments, is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul and might. In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus states that this is the greatest commandment. In Ephesians 6:25-29, Paul's instruction to husbands say that men should love their wives, just as Christ loved the Church -- but I think from His example, we can learn that His love for the Father was greater. Also most of I John talks about the love of God, also. Loving God and putting Him above all others doesn't demean a husband's love for his wife, it elevates it, because the closer a man draws to God, the greater his capacity to love (Rom 5:5). |

11 | I need help in regaining my faith in God | NT general Archive 1 | hadassah | 113794
My heart goes out to you. I know how difficult the trek back can seem, but remember the story of the Prodigal Son. He knew the father, lived with him all his life, but took his inheritance and did his own thing for many years. What is important about this story is the response of the Father. He saw him from afar (means he was waiting for him to come back), he RAN to him and placed him back in authority. Read Luke 15:11-32. Also read the promises contained in Joel. God will restore to you all that has been taken away. God is in the restoration business. As far as steps are concerned, repent (read Psalm 51, David's prayer of repentance) and read these passages, pray to God for guidance and find a church that will help you grow. God bless you!! |
