Bible Question: I am curentally living with whom is to be my husband very soon. I am on SSI and SSD. The SSD gives me all my medical care and the medications that are most costly. I am wanting to know that if we marry with a marraige license and never registar it with the court house but married by an ordained minister wouold we still be married in God eyes? If we registar it with the court house I will loose my benifits and can we can not afford my doctor visits or my very costly medications. I have searced and searched my heart and in Gods word but nothing comes to me other than is it right? I want to be legally married to this man, who is very good to me and for me he goes to church with me and goes to support group meetings with me and he belives there is a God and belives in prayer can you please help me figure this all out? I know what I am doing now is a sin, but certian things had to be done as in my son and daughter in law needed a good home to live in and help take care of my aging parents, and I needed medical care of a larger city with doctors knowledable in my conditoin of Neurofibromatisos and Fibromyliga and then I felt that I was unhappy living where I was apart from the man I truely love and loves me in return. He loves ans accepts me unconditionally. I have been married 3 times before and all three were not good marraigies, the first was a drunkard, the second well lets say he was not ready to tell me all the truth and the third he never realy loved me like he said he did and used me to meet his own ends. I know that God says I will be commiting adulterey and I know that is wrong and I have asked God's fogiveness. We Carl and I are experinceing many trials along our journy together and we are really being tested I feel, I will go into futher details if I need to. I jsut needed to know that if we married by a minister and never registared with the state would we be married in God's eyes. My parents will accept that and feel like we would be. thanks for your time Dona |
Bible Answer: Dona, Your question is a hard one to ask. It suggests the situation bothers you if you're looking for reassurance. If the situation were right or your proposed solution were right, I don't think you'd be asking this question. Throughout the Bible, we are told to live and walk honestly in the sight of all men (a few Scriptures -- Rom 12:17; 2 Cor 8:21; 1 Pet 2:12). When you talk about the obstacles to getting married, they sound so big and I'm sure they seem that way, but maybe you should focus on the God you serve. He is bigger than your problems. It sounds as though in order to be legally married, in the eyes of the world, you'll have to take a leap of faith, maybe that is what God wants for you. I can't promise it will be easy, God doesn't either. In fact, most of the epistles we quote were written by men who suffered and died for their beliefs, but not one of them would have chosen a different path for thier own lives. In the midst of their pain and suffering, they knew peace and joy because God upheld them. I speak from some experience. I had been miserable married twice and was living with a wonderful man. I was convicted of the sin and finally overcame my own fear of failure in marriage and we were married. My life isn't easy, but I do feel a great amount of peace and joy -- an aspect that was missing from my life. Not to mention that my husband has grown tremendously in the Lord. Doing the right thing was the right thing to do. |
