1 | are we to give up everything on earth | Mark 10:21 | WalkingTalkingBible | 160630
Hi, Matthew 6:33 comes to mind. It's not so much as having to give up everything, but being willing to give up anything to be with Jesus. Remember, He gave it all - His life - for us. The rich man in Mark 10 wanted to be with Jesus, but he wasn't willing to give up anything. I think the most important thing to remember is that we are only on this earth temporarily, and then it's eternity with the One who loves us (for true believers, anyhow). Your love for your Savior is shown in your devotion to Him and your love for souls (in how many souls you drawing to Christ). You're not hurting God by going to get a tan and your nails done unless you have the wrong motive. Just wanting to be a good representative of God by looking decent and modestly is okay (it takes a lot more than that, but physical appearance does count). If you're doing all of this to catch the eye of men, look better than other women, or draw attention to yourself then your motives are wrong. Please keep this verse in mind: 1 Timothy 2:9-10 - In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. The bottom line is God doesn't call for us to give up anything that doesn't jeopardize our walk with Him. The question is what are we willing to give up to grow in Him? The answer will be different for each of us. I hope this helps. WalkingTalkingBible |

2 | Trinity | John 1:1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 160615
Hi Trinity, God is one God with three manifestations: John 1:1, 14 - "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. . ." 1 Timothy 3:16 - "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." 1 John 5:7 - "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." Isaiah 43:11 - "I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour." It's like a woman who's a mother, a daughter, and a wife; or a man who's a father, a son, and a husband - one person, three different 'positions' so to speak. WalkingTalkingBible |

3 | Is fellowship and relatiosip the same? | James 4:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 143982
Hi mabeth, fellowship (spiritual) and relationship (carnal) are a little bit alike in that both involve interacting with one another. However, fellowship (spiritual) is much more than just being with other true believers. The Greek word for fellowship is koinonia and it means partnership, communion, joint participation, and intimacy (not sexual). 1 Corinthians 1:9 says, "God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord." (Also, see 1 John 1:3, 6-7) Surely, we are not to have the type of relationship with Christ where we are just "hanging out" with Him. Also, we are to be much more involved with each other as members of the body of Christ, as we are told to love one another as Jesus has loved us (John 13:34). This love is a supernatural love in that the only way we can love each other the way God wants is to have His Spirit dwelling within. Fellowshipping with one antoher is (should be) very rewarding to our spiritual growth and walk with God. Good question! WalkingTalkingBible |

4 | Unpardonable sin | Matt 12:32 | WalkingTalkingBible | 143807
James 4:17, "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." 1)Having been baptized with the Holy Spirit (He will now dwell within the believer), the believer will be lead by Him, comforted by Him, shown the truth by Him, been convicted by Him, etc. To turn around and say that the Holy Spirit does not exist, after one has known and been filled with the Holy Spirit, and walked in Holiness, is the unpardonable sin, or blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. 2)Those you refer to in your no. 2 will not fall into this category because they don't know God, they are ignorant of this topic (Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues). Scripture says that this, along with the other gifts and the five-fold ministry, are given UNTIL the Church comes to unity and maturity which has not happened yet. (Ephesians 4:12-16) 3)-5) Apply James 4:17; they will not be held accountable for blaspheming the Holy Spirit, Whom they do not know, but they are accountable for their unbelief. See John 3:17. 5 | Is the bride of christ the church? | Eph 5:23 | WalkingTalkingBible | 143806
Ephesians 5:22- Yes, the bride of Christ is the Church. As Paul is speaking in this chapter about the relationship between a husband and his wife, he parallells it to Christ and the Church. Also, Revelation 21:9-14, the angel shows John the bride of the Lamb which is the Church (identified by the 12 angels(12 tribes of Israel) and the 12 foundations (12 apostles). WalkingTalkingBible |

6 | What doesscripture sayabout relationship | James 4:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 143792
Hi, mabeth Some Scripture on relationships that hinder our walk with God: James 4:4b ". . .whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." Psalm 1:1 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful." Luke 14:26 "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple (which means that no one/nothing should come before God in the life of the believer)." 8 | WTB, Where do you see 144K is the church | Rev 14:1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 138434
Hi, I see the 144K in Revelation 14 as the Church because: v.3 - these souls are the "redeemed from the earth." Redemption came only after the Gospel (death, burial, and resurrection of Christ), which is the foundation of the Church Age/Grace Dispensation. v.4 - these souls are "virgins" meaning that these are ones that avoid spiritual adultery, false and seducing doctrines, and anything else that oppose the Gospel. I see this as a statement to describe the Church because, although the Jews had the Law breakers and idolatry to deal with, the Church gravely deals with false religions, false doctrines, and heresies. Not to participate in these - staying spiritually pure - at a time when many are compromising the Gospel, is to be a virgin spiritually. v.4 also states that "they follow the Lamb withersoever He goeth" meaning that these souls are lead by the Word and His spirit. It is in the Church age where souls are lead by Jesus Christ Who is the Word, which is spirit and life (John 6:63). I don't believe that the 144K is a concrete number (like there will only be 144K Jews going to God's everlasting Kingdom). I believe it is a reference to God's number system (for example, like 7 is the number for perfection?). I don't know the number system that well, but I know that each number has its own significance to the Kingdom of God. Thanks for your response, WalkingTalkingBible |

10 | (What is one to think???) | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 134381
While God doesn't need us to defend Him or His Word, you must take this one thought into consideration (and if you don't, it's thank you, Jesus, anyhow). Whether YOU believe God and the Bible to be true is irrelevant. Whether you believe or not, God is going to exist and His Word will exist even after you have passed on. God loves you and has great plans for your life. You have a choice to make: if you want to be free from sin, choose Jesus. If you don't choose Jesus, just stay the same, even though I don't advise you to do that. I'm just letting you know that just because you don't believe, understand, or accept God or the Bible, doesn't make Him go away, not exist, or His Word void. You can have the truth if you want it. If not, and you can take this anyway you want, you will be eternally separated from God. WalkingTalkingBible |

11 | how does this apply to today and faith | 2 Kin 4:28 | WalkingTalkingBible | 134379
Elisha sent his servant, Gehazi, to meet the Shunammite woman (v. 26) and she told him that all was well because she wanted to talk with the man of God. We see Gehazi's heart in how he comes to push the woman away (v. 27). Elisha knew she was vexed but didn't know exactly what was troubling her (v. 27). Applying this to us today we learn it's not wrong to want to go to the top for answers or help. In the Shunammite's case, it was the man of God. In our case, we can go directly to God. 12 | Everyone who loves is of God?? | 1 John 5:12 | WalkingTalkingBible | 133709
Hi LibertyBelle, perhaps this person needs to take a look at what true love is. I had people to tell me that everyone who 'believes' in God is saved. The only thing was that these people were living all kinds of ways, practicing sin and saying they were saved because they believed. When I got the full understanding of believe (to commit to, to trust, to accept), I understood that they really did not believe. You will find, as I did, that most people love in word, just like they believe in word. But their lives tell us something different. In John 14:21 Jesus says, "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." This is not the same love someone has for a parent, child, or spouse. This is a sacrificial, supernatural love, an unconditional one. Most people think they are in love, until that 'special one' becomes unattractive or undesirable, or until they get mad. True love, as Christ demonstrated, is putting another's best interest before you at all times, and being willing to suffer for the sake of others' well being - no matter the circumstances. 1 John 5:3 says, "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." Love is not out of obligation, either. It is pure. Love is described further in 1 Corinthians 13 (another word for love is charity): "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." This love only comes by submitting to the will of God and letting Him have His way! WalkingTalkingBible |

13 | Please clarify me on this | Matt 5:19 | WalkingTalkingBible | 133577
Hi skymystartingpoint, this passage is not saying that it is possible for a law breaker or transgressor to inherit the kingdom of heaven. It is saying that ones who annul the least of the commandments and teaches others to do the same will not have a name or place in the kingdom of heaven. These ones will not even be considered among the least. "The least" does not actually depend on position. Looking at another verse that uses "least in the kingdom," where Jesus says that there was not a greater prophet than John the Baptist, but he that is least in the kingdom is greater than he (John the Baptist), leads me to another verse and the difference of the times. Matthew 20:16 "So the last shall be first and first last. . ." which talks about the kingdom of God (the Church) and it's establishment. All, whether the apostles who God used to lay the foundation, or preachers and teachers today, saved immediately after the day of Pentecost or saved today, will have the same outcome - eternal life. John the Baptist was not part of the kingdom of God (the Church). True believers in this dispensation are responsible for spreading the Word as well as living it. Whereas the believers in the other dispensations (Jews) were responsible for keeping the law among themselves and other Jews, we have a spiritual responsibility to the world. This dispensation is the only one where God's Spirit lives within true believers - therefore we have a greater responsibility. "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required:" part of Luke 12:48 Does this help any? WalkingTalkingBible |

14 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 133182
Hi, ds8334, I agree with the post that james210 wrote. Isaiah 59:1-2 says "Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear." It is sin that separates man from God. So who are they talking to when they "pray" a prayer that is not asking for Salvation? Well, look at it this way: wouldn't Satan love it if we thought we could pray, get what we ask for, and not get saved? It's a trick of the enemy and the fault of the unbeliever! Many times it seems that the unsaved has more than us, but God tells us in Psalm 37:16: "A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked." 1 Peter 3:12: "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." John 9:31: "Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth." The answer is that unbelievers can pray to God, but He will only hear them when they are asking for forgiveness. Otherwise, some of the unbelievers' so-called answered prayers are actually those of the believers who are praying for them. WalkingTalkingBible |

15 | Please elaborate more on question 1 | 1 Sam 19:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 133178
Hi, to correctly answer these questions, we have to look at the dispensations - these tell us in which way God deals with man and what He expects from man. 1. God does not have an evil spirit. God is holy and His spirit (character in this sense) is holy. As we know, holy means pure. 1 Thessalonians 4:8b "but God, who hath also given unto us His holy Spirit." Leviticus 19:2 ". . . for I the LORD your God am holy." During Saul's time, God was dealing with man through the Law. Deuteronomy 28:15 "But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:" Saul disobeyed God and God kept His word; Saul was cursed. An evil spirit was sent to torment Saul and he chose not to repent. In the our time (Grace Dispensation), God does not allow evil to come upon us, we do. The gift of Salvation frees us from the bondage of sin. It must be understood that true repentance is not just saying 'I'm sorry'. It starts with realizing that you are a sinner and that your very way of life is an offense to God. Then you have to be accountable for your sin and desire forgiveness. A soul that is truly repented is not so quick to sin. Evil, now, comes against us because we are the children of God. We are told that our enemies are not of the flesh. God equips us for spiritual warfare, why then would He send it to us? In this dispensation, we choose whether we will abstain from evil or do evil. Romans 6:16 "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" 2. In the past dispensations, God's spirit did not live in man. In the OT, we read where the spirit of God moved, came over, was with, etc. In our dispensation, we have the opportunity for the spirit of God to dwell within us. It's one thing to get saved, it's another thing to live and stay saved. The Holy Spirit basically shows us how to live holy and helps us persevere until Jesus returns for us. WalkingTalkingBible |

16 | What is the light in Genesis 1:3? | Gen 1:3 | WalkingTalkingBible | 132424
Hi, pgs, I agree with the other posts concerning 'light'. God is the Light of man. The light in Genesis 1:3 is the glory of God signifying His presence (Jews call it the Shekinah glory). I believe it is the same light that will be seen in the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1, 23). 2 Chronicles 5:14; Exodus 40:34 WalkingTalkingBible |

17 | The ransom - God or man? | 1 Cor 15:21 | WalkingTalkingBible | 132209
Hi, alienresident, most definitely the Messiah had to be God for man's redemption. Who else is worthy to die for the sins of the world? Who else is sinless besides God? Understanding that Jesus is God in the flesh (John 1:1, 14; 1 John 5:7, 1 Timothy 3:16), the ransom is God. Through humanity, the relationship between God and man was lost and through Humanity (divine), man was redeemed back to God. Being a God who does everything decently and in order, He didn't redeem man via the Spirit (God is a Spirit - John 4:24) because man wasn't lost as a spirit. Also, see Acts 4:10-12. 18 | Rowdy, Rowdy, are you sure? | 1 Tim 2:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 132083
PasserBy, I understand your view, but remember, conversion is a process. Those young women are making a transition, like we all are. Remember when God first saved you? Did you go from sinner to perfect saint? No, none of us do. It's a process. It seems that the church these young women are attending is providing the love (of God) needed to grow spiritually. If more churches would focus on loving, instead of preaching with condemnation all the time, more souls will be drawn to God. Just as God has patience and longsuffers with us, we must have patience and long suffer with other souls. Let's celebrate the fact that these young women have chosen Christ and let's pray for them that they fall in love with God to the point that they will make all the necessary sacrifices needed to walk successfully with Him. Freely you have received, freely give. Share what God has shared with you. WalkingTalkingBible |

19 | Can a satanist invade my dreams? | 2 Cor 10:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 130871
Hi JumpingBum, I see that the old dragon is up to his same old tricks again - FEAR. I'm glad you are a praying soul. Satan can invade your dreams - ONLY with your permission! Of course he told you he can invade - to put up a stronghold of fear. I understand you gave the satanist permission to try to invade your dreams, but realize, Satan, who wants to kill, to steal, and to destroy, will use this an opportunity to control your mind. Remember, you are a child of God. God says to pull down the strongholds, cast down imaginations! If God be for you, who can be against you??? You're are ministering to this person to win his/her soul from the devil and he, of course, is not going to easily let go. Mininster to this person with much love (for love is of God and God is Love) - it a weapon that Satan cannot bear. Stay strong in the Word, It also is a fatal weapon to Satan. Know God and know who you are in God because Satan will use any available 'door' to enter and attack your faith. Put on the whole armour of God, and walk in the authority that God has given you as His child and win that soul. DON'T let Satan scare you; fear is his most powerful weapon. I will be praying with you. "Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]; because he trusteth in thee." Isaiah 26:3 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 (Elijah challenged the devil when he and Baal prophets built altars to see the true and living God bring fire - you have to be spiritually confident when dealing directly with the devil) WalkingTalkingBible |

20 | y is it harder for a rich man to enter.. | Luke 13:24 | WalkingTalkingBible | 130868
Hi Empty Me, the answer you gave your step dad is a good one. Jesus says, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." (Matthew 16:24) Of course this doesn't mean that all rich people will be denied access to the kingdom of God. It simply means, as you and others have said, that a rich person will most likely be bound to his/her riches and will not be so easily persuaded to put God above all for the sake of salvation (or anything else). I see how hard it is for not-so-rich people to accept salvation. Lust and pride keeps them from being able to accept Jesus as Savior. "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." 1 John 2:16 Keep praying for your step dad and continue to be a Godly (Christian) example and you will draw him to Christ.
