81 | If you rape a virgin then she must mary | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118134
Deuteronomy 22:25 is when a woman is raped (and the man force her) as opposed to verse 28 (hold - the Hebrew word "taphas" means to handle) does not mean rape. In the meantime, don't cast your pearls before the swine! Are these unbelievers trying to get answers for the sake of wanting to be saved or are they trying to discredit God and you?? Remember, the servant of the Lord must not strive. . . WalkingTalkingBible |

82 | a physical or spiritual body? | Acts 8:22 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118128
Hi, to be "born again" is a conversion from the natural (sinful) way of life to the spiritual (Godly) way of life. In Romans 5:12, we see that sin fell on all who were born after Adam. Therefore by the first birth, which is the natural birth, we are born sinners. We lived according to the ways of the world. To be born again is to choose to accept Jesus as Savior and choose to live by the word of God. 1 Peter 1:23 says "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." So we influence our rebirth by choosing Christ as Savior and living by His word, no longer living by the course of the world. This is a daily and progressive walk, as we become more like the children God called us to be. John 3:8 means that only God knows when one meets the condition to be born again, and this is in reference to John 6:44 and John 15:16, 19. WalkingTalkingBible |

84 | Did He have control of the Holy Spirit? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117867
1 John 5:7 says, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." The Father (Creator), the Son (Word), and the Holy Ghost (Spirit) are three manifestations of God. The Holy Spirit is Who dwells all believers in this dispensation. Remember when Jesus said in John 15:4, "Abide in Me and I in you?" John 16:7, He says if He doesn't go away, then the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost (John 14:26) will not come. He is all in One. 85 | Who has left an awesome legacy to follow | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117858
There are so many for both categories. Joseph (son of Israel via Rachel) - was hated by his brothers because of his dreams and favor of their father. He was hated by his brothers, sold into captivity, thrown into prison because of a lie, and finally, made it to the palace. Through all of this, he never complained or stopped trusting God. (starting in Genesis 37) Job - in all poor Job went through, he never lost his integrity and love for God (Book of Job) Esther - was born into captivity, who, because she was very humble and bold, became queen of Persia and saved her people from being killed. (Book of Esther) Daniel - was God's dream interpreter, refused to bow down to the Persian gods, continued to pray to God, even though it was forbidden, was cast into the lion's den, never stop trusting God. (Book of Daniel) Jonah - was sent by God to preach to a people whom he hated, ignored God's commission, ended up in a whale, went to preach anyhow, was mad because God saved the people (Book of Jonah) Samson - was not to mess with strange women (Philistines), played with Delilah until her plot to take his strength was carried through, died with the Philistines (starting in Judges 13:24) Jezebel - did anything to control everything, had God's prophets killed, thrown into prison, exiled, you name it. If you ever heard someone get called a "jezebel" this person is a control freak. Often, people would refer to a promiscuous woman as a "jezebel," even though Jezebel would have done anything to have her way, she is biblically known for her overpowering nature (1 Kings 18, 19, 21, 2 Kings 9 and Revelation 2:20) YoYo, I hope these help get you started WalkingTalkingBible |

86 | Did Jesus have brothers and sisters? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117837
I know James (the inspired writer of the Book of James) is Jesus' half brother. Also, Jude, the inspired writer of the Book of Jude is related to Him. I learned about these two from reading commentary in the Thompson Chain study Bible. WalkingTalkingBible |

87 | Did Jesus actually go to Hell? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117836
Hi Preacherlee98, In Ephesians 4:8-10, Paul was inspired to write about the ascension and descension of Jesus. Verse 8 states that Jesus "led captivity captive." Before Jesus' death, there was no reconciliation between God and man, so all souls were taken captive by the enemy, even in death. So, when Jesus gave His life as the ultimate sacrifice for sin, He is the way for man to be reconciled back to God. All of the souls in hell were not unbelievers. So Jesus led the believers out of captivity, into the presence of God (see Luke 16). The unsaved (unbelievers) remained in hell. Jesus obtained the keys of death and hell (Revelation 1:18) because He gave His life. Also, in 1 Peter 3:18-19, we see Jesus going to preach to the spirits in prison, which is hell. I hope this helps you out. WalkingTalkingBible |

88 | Bible version can become an idol? | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117766
Definitely, a Bible version can become an idol especially if the particular version strays away from the truth of the Word of God and is used for personal motives. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 says, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." There are many versions of the Bible and just as many stray far away from the truth. This surely is not God's motive, but man's doing. The Bible was written in two languages: Hebrew and Greek. In studying, along with the power of the Holy Ghost ("Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come." John 13:15), use a concordance that breaks down the Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament). However, to answer your question, there are souls out there that would rather believe what a man has written in the recent past than what the Spirit of God has spoken in eternity past. Anything, or anyone, you put before God is idolatrous. WalkingTalkingBible |

91 | WTB Show where is the devil kicked out. | Genesis | WalkingTalkingBible | 117652
In Genesis 1:2, we see that the earth, a creation of God, being without form, and it was void (emptiness) and darkness was present. One may question if God made the earth like that. Remember, God is perfect, having all power, and Holy - how could He create something formless and void? As God moved across the face of the deep He saw the potential for informity in His creation. Why, because the devil and his followers had been expelled from Heaven. Now in verses 3-5, we see that God created light. This light was not the sun, moon, or stars (which were not created until the 4th day). If this darkness had been simply natural darkness, then those natural lights would have been sufficient. However, the darkness that "was upon the face of the deep" was a darkness that only the light of God, better know as the Shekinah glory (Exodus 40:34-35) could separate. The light, which is the presence of God was divided, or set apart, from the darkness, the presence of the devil. I believe the devil was kicked out before the completion of the first day of creation. Revelation 12:4 also shows the devil and a third of the host of heaven being expelled from heaven. But since we know that God created everything in the beginning, then the expulsion had to have taken place before, or during the beginning of the creation of the earth. 92 | Job 1:21 why does he refer to God here w | Job 1:21 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117635
During Job's dispensations, God dealt with man via conscience and law as opposed to our dispensation which is Grace. It wasn't until Jesus that the devil was exposed. Job, and the other O.T. people didn't deal directly with the devil. They had no power against him because this was before the Day of Pentacost. Job knew God as having all power, he didn't know that God had a conversation about him with the devil. God had to fight the enemy for them as oppose to us, being given power via the in-dwelling of the Holy Ghost and the acknowledgement that we are not fighting against flesh and blood. In our dispensation, God has given His believers power (authority) over all the power of the enemy. For the second part of your question, 3 John 2 tells us that God wills for His believers to prosper and be in good health, even as our souls prosper. God loves to bless His children. When it's time for us to be taken to a higher level in faith, He may move some things out of His way. When we are giving more attention to the things and people He has blessed our lives with, and He's not first in our lives, He will move those out of His way. But as far as giving and taking, God has a loving motive behind all that He does. Whatever He permits to happen in our lives, it's for our own good. (Isaiah 41:10; Luke 10:19; Acts 1:8; 3 John 2; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Romans 8:28) WalkingTalkingBible |

94 | But do we have to sin? | Job 1:21 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117625
Hi, I'm new here and I'm enjoying your discussion. I would like to comment on the "sin showing off God's glory." Yes, He tolerates evil and sin because of His love for us. Remember when He created the world? God created the world and man without sin. The devil had been expelled from Heaven (which was the darkness and lack of form and emptiness). The only way evil enters into the world is through sin. Man chose to sin against God and lost dominion to the devil. God is not glorified in evil. Because evil enters into the earth via sin, God gets glory when we return to Him through accepting Jesus and do His will. Sin glorifies His adversary, the devil.
