1 | Should a christian believe in destiny? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 123514
I would recommend against it, our God gives us freedom to choose our ultimate desitnation for our soul and all the choices in between now and then. It sounds intriguing and attractive to follow someone else's advice to find our "destiny" but too often it leads to someone or something that doesn't really have our best interests at heart. In my opinion, it's best to stick with God and His Word. He and His Word are the ONLY things that are absolutely reliable and we can be assured that God does have our best interests at heart. There are many scriptures that could be cited but the best I could think of is from the wisest man that ever lived and he pursue every conceivable option known to man. Eccl 12:12 But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. Eccl 12:13 The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. Eccl 12:14 For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil. It would be wise for you to read the rest of this book. Blessings to you. Country girl. |

2 | Once | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 123522
This concept "once saved always saved" simply doesn't exist in God's Word. Among many other scriptures in support, one could cite Jesus' parable on the Prodical Son. There are many stories in the Bible depictinig God's people, including christians who sin and are rejected by one or more of the Apostles, representing God's rejection. 1 Tim 1:18 This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, 1 Tim 1:19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. 1 Tim 1:20 Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme. 3 | evil heart of unbelief (Heb 3:12) mean | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124056
If we go to verses 16-17 of that same chapter we get an answer to this question Heb 3:16 For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? Heb 3:17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? So we see a contrast between this kind of heart (essence of a person) in those that wandered the desert and that of King David for we know he was one of the greatest Kings that ever lived and was given one of the greatest compliments from God Himself, 1 Sam 13:14. We see further contrast of these two basic kinds of responses to God in Psalm 51 by King David. There we see what kind of heart God does want, one with humility, one that is contrite and submissive to God, not selfish and thinking only of how to get his next "fix" of power like we see in Pharaoh of Egypt. Blessings to you. Hope this helps. Country Girl |

4 | Question about nations of the world | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124542
I'm wondering why this is so important to you. It shouldn't be important to christians at all, as we're all able to be children of God. To me, this kind of discussion just breeds disrepect and sometimes even prejudice. Hopefully you've got good motives for generating this question. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

7 | Bibical mean for LOVE, WISDOM AND LIGHT | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124875
Generally speaking, I would recommend 1 Cor 13 for the subject of love. For wisdom, go to Ecclesiastes and for light I would go to 1 John. After reading these and studying them together, a person should gain a good Biblical position on God and how He feels about the subject. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

8 | Key verse of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 125645
I'd have to say Jesus provided the correct answer to this question. Mark 12:29 Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; Mark 12:30 AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.' Mark 12:31 "The second is this, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other commandment greater than these." The best part of this scripture is that Jesus gives us the second KEY verse of the Bible, all in the same paragraph and setting. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

9 | What Is The Meaning Of Life? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 125853
About the best I can do is refer you to the Books of Job and Ecclesiates. There, you'll find some similarly tough questions. The answers are also not easy to dig out or to understand. They both get pretty deep. Good luck or rather God's blessings to you. Country Girl
10 | Which one are we not going to keep? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 125875
I thinking we should comply or obey with all the commands of the NT, including those nine commandments carried over from the OT. Which portion of the NT do you see as disposable? Then again, which portion of the OT do you see that is essential or required of us modern christians? I thought Christ took the old law and its requirements to the cross with him in accordance with Col 2:14. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

11 | Where does the Bible SAY that? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 126014
I noticed you forgot to quote the whole post or at least the most important portion (in caps below for emphasis). Now, would you please reword your question to this statement? Thanks. Subject: Which one are we not going to keep? Note: I just remembered one more tidbit of explanation. Quoted from your post: Matthew 5:17-19 (ESV) "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. [18] For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, WILL PASS FROM THE LAW UNTIL ALL IS ACCOMPLISHED. Here I would key in on the phrase "until all is accomplished." I've been taught to believe that this was Christ's mission: to come to the earth, live the Perfect Sinless Life and offer His body as a Sacrifice for our sins and take the OT with Him to His Grave. Thus upon accomplishing that great and noble deed, the OT no longer existed as far as God was concerned but Christ's Law of Liberty was executed in accordance with His Last Will and Testament on that day at Pentacost, Acts Chapter 2. So there's another question for you to reconcile with your position. If this is not what Christ meant with that phrase; what WAS to be accomplished and do away with the Law and the Prophets? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

13 | Isn't jealousy bad? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 126573
Jealousy is most certainly a bad thing when one is talking about jealousy and humans (you and me). But when one turns to the subject of Jealousy and God, that's a whole different matter. Since He is the Creator and we are the created, He is completely entitled to all the Jealousy He would like to display. He bought us and paid for us with dear Son's blood. Now it's up to us to redeem ourselves and live a christian life and make it to Heaven. But as you've indicated, God is a Jealous God and will NOT tolerate sharing us with the Devil. "We're either for Him or against Him and for the Devil." God's Perfect sense of Justice demands this kind of Jealousy. Hope this helps your understanding and blessings to you. Country Girl |

14 | Where is God? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 126912
When I read your statement, I can only respond with the basics. Keep reading your Bible and keep praying. You might try to spend more time with your fellow christians and ask a brother in whom you can confide your feelings and ask him how he has dealt with these kind of problems. With respect to your Bible reading, you might place special emphasis on reading from and about God's special people who had similar problems like Job and Solomon. They each had their own misgivings about God and provide some stimulating answers. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

15 | What is an angel | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 126981
The meaning of angel throughout the Bible has always been "messenger of God." Is there something in particular about angels you wish to know? Please elaborate. Also, it'll help greatly if you can pinpoint which angel in scripture to whom you're referring. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

16 | How our Loving God commanded such things | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 127397
This topic has been handled pretty thoroughly in the past. One good discussion starts with Post No 118345, between Just Read Mark, Rowdy and Kalos. It seems God is God and we are His creation. As the Potter, He can do anything He likes with us clay pots. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

17 | WHAT ARE SOME OF THE FEATS OF THE BIBLE? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 127657
Do you have in mind, miraculous acts like Samson's killing of tens of thousands of Philistenes by pushing down some pillars or David's killing of a giant soilder when David was a mere boy with no armor? Maybe you're referring to the very dramatic contest of Elijah and his God and that of the false gods at Mt. Carmel in 1 Ki 18? There are many more such feats in the Bible. To which category are you referring? Maybe you could give us a few more details? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

18 | I married wrong woman,what can I do? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 128052
God would want you to expend every fiber of your being toward a long and fruitful life with the lady of your life...and you'll be a better husband after this process of trial and refinement. Have you told her how you feel when she does/says these things? Have you considered seeing a christian marriage counselor? One in whom both of you can trust and will be balanced but Godly for both of you? Again, I would encourage to exhuast every means at your disposal as God only gives two possible ways to exit a marriage: death or adultery. I assume naturally neither of these should even come up for discussion at this point. We'll be praying for you to receive blessings of encouragement and strength to follow God's Will in this struggle. Country Girl |

19 | biblcal reference to lessons | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 129359
I can't think of a specific verse that speaks to this subject. But I do think the Bible in general, particularly the OT goes over the same story about the Israelites losing and regaining the favor of God shows us that basic principle. Remember, the basic purpose of the Bible is to introduce God, His Thoughts, His Ways to us, His creation AND to assure us that He loves us enough to have sent His Son and reserve a place for us in Heaven. Hope this helps. I'll be watching, hoping someone, knowing God's Word a little better will come up with a verse in support of this principle. Blessings to you, Country Girl. |

20 | Verses relating to backstabbing. | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 129537
The only topic I can think of that relates to backstabbing would be the sin of gossipping which is found in these verses. Prov 20:19 He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, Therefore do not associate with a gossip. Rom 1:29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 2 Cor 12:20 For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I wish and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry tempers, disputes, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances; 1 Tim 3:11 Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things. 1 Tim 5:13 At the same time they also learn to be idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper to mention. 2 Tim 3:3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, Titus 2:3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, I would recommend your studying those and the context around them, select the best ones applicable to your paticular fancy and let God's Word speak for Itself. Sounds like a very worthwhile project. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
