Bible Question: What does an"evil heart of unbelief (Hew3:12) mean |
Bible Answer: If we go to verses 16-17 of that same chapter we get an answer to this question Heb 3:16 For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? Heb 3:17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? So we see a contrast between this kind of heart (essence of a person) in those that wandered the desert and that of King David for we know he was one of the greatest Kings that ever lived and was given one of the greatest compliments from God Himself, 1 Sam 13:14. We see further contrast of these two basic kinds of responses to God in Psalm 51 by King David. There we see what kind of heart God does want, one with humility, one that is contrite and submissive to God, not selfish and thinking only of how to get his next "fix" of power like we see in Pharaoh of Egypt. Blessings to you. Hope this helps. Country Girl |
