5 | 2 Timothy 2:15 | Bible general Archive 3 | lionheart | 169609
calmrage, Is it not possible to be hardline where God and His Word are concerned and exercise some sensitivity? Jesus did. Your right I probably did misunderstand. That's why I harp on 2 Timothy 2:15 so much. This one guiding principle that if we are not committed to we wont know the difference, not even a little bit. When we are committed to being workmen of Gods Word then we can come with a godly response and wise council when we do encounter things.I didnt say you were pointing fingers, many do though,if I was doing that with you please forgive me. 7 | What did you learn | Bible general Archive 3 | lionheart | 177880
Liliesof the field, Good day to you. Anytime we study the bible it's important that we observe some basic biblestudy principles, one of them can be found in 2 Peter 1:20. No private interpetation. We must allow Gods Word to speak for itself and it does. Here are three practicals that will simplify any study of Gods Word. 1. The verse will interpet itself,2. It will be interpeted within the context, or 3. or a word, verse or phrase has been used beforel. Now with this in mind Read all of 1 Corinthians Chapter one with attention to vs 18-31. When youve done this (take your time, dont rush through this.) then I would like to get your take on verse 29 That no flesh should glory in His presence. What did you learn? In Christ, |

8 | What say you? | Bible general Archive 3 | lionheart | 178201
Liliesofthefield, I want to commend you on the time and effort you have taken in the studying and reasearch of the afore mentioned subject. I took some time to look up and read the scriptures you referenced.(I appreciate that.) It was not my heart to be contentious of your position regarding tongues. What is important is that what we teach and how it fits with scripture. That's what my line of thinking was in my first post to you. 1 Timothy 4:16, 2 Timothy 2:15 are vital when it comes to what any of us teaches. Thus the questions some of us have been asking. Now with what I've just stated how does do the scriptures you reference in this post tie into the speaking in tongues of the New Testament? In Him, lionheart PS- Keep in mind time, place and why. |

9 | Shed some light | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 140686
I've been real curious as of late. Over the years there has been much discussion and debate over when Jesus Christ will return.I've heard and read post trib, pre trib, the whole nine yards. There more theories out there than I can shake a stick at. The one thing I am sure of is that our Lord is comming back. If I'm still around when he does I get to mmet him in the air. If not then he's gonna get me up. Eighter one works for me. My biggest concern for the time being is just remaining faithful to the end and winning as many souls for Christ as possible. Maybe those of you out there can shed some light on this for me. Thanx lionheart |

13 | What of Baptism? | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 153587
King623, Greetings and welcome to the forum. You are correct in saying that salvation is free,it cost us nothing and cost God his dearest blood. Eph 2:8 -10 Our salvation has nothing to do with what we did,but everything to do with what God did. Peter made some very clear statements regarding Baptism, Acts 2:38,1 Peter 3:21. Paul covers the subject of Baptism quite clearly in Romans chapter 6. My question to you is this,If we take baptism out of the equation what do you have? Refer to Mk 16:16. Your brother in Christ, lionheart |

14 | Ominus what say you? | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 153591

15 | A right of passage? | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 153612
Is it just a right of passage? Lets see what we have here. 1. Matt 3:11,Mk 1:8, Lk 3:16,Jn 1:33. All these verses speak of Johns baptism and refer to what would come on Penticost. 2. 1 Cor 1:17 This is what God has called each and everyone of us to do. Matt 28:18-20. I will agree with you on this, one must grow beyond the basics, but if one is to do so one better be solidly grounded in the basics. There is nothing infantile about baptism, Baptism is one of basic tennets of the faith. The big question I have is why when baptism is mentioned some people get the idea we are taking the focus or priority off Jesus Christ? Quite the contrary,It puts the focus right where it rightly belongs,on Jesus Christ and what he did and accomplished for us. What do we do with Mk 16:16, Acts 2:38,Romans 6:3-11 1 Pt 3:21? It all fits together. In Christ, lionheart |

17 | What say you? | OT general | lionheart | 168101
JRM, Greetings. Just an observation and some retrospective. 2 Peter 1:20,21, 2 Timothy 2:15,3:16,17, 2 Peter 1:3. Is not Gods Word timeless? Does 2 Peter 1:20,21 still mean anything to people today, cause if it does then we we have to,we must set aside oppinion and sentimentality for if we really take this passage of scripture for what it says then we will understand that there is only one interpretation, now I know there are some who will say look at the differences from writter to writter, book to book, most definitly. These individuals were different in many ways, thier characters, the times they lived, and the culture they grew up in.But the one common thread they all shared and had in common was they were men of God led by his spirit and what they put to pen and ink was as God intended. It was without opinion or sentimentality. Gramatically we may not have it jot and tittle, but we do have His Word as he revealed it to His holy prophets and apostles. 2 Timothy 3:16.More to come? You betcha! But it will all fall within the confines of what God has told us in His Word. What say you everyone? In Christ, lionheart PS- More on this subject later. |

18 | Why do we make it so complicated? | NT general Archive 1 | lionheart | 164384
wormwood, I can appreciate what you are saying here, the question arises here, then what was Jesus teaching in Mark 16:15,16 Matthew 28:18-20? What was Peter teaching in Acts 2:38? What was Paul spending so much time and detail on in the first part of Romans chapter 6 and his other epistles? Faith, confession, and repentance are all part of the salvation experience, why is it we want to throw out baptism, something clearly taught by our Lord and the Apostles? If we take any of these things out of the picture do you still have salvation? God gave us the whole pakage, can we afford to not heed any part of it? Forgive me if this a bit long winded. In Christ, lionheart |
