God's day to you, Justme, Communion should be open to all believers, after they examine themselves (1Co 11:23ff). Nowhere in Scripture is the qualification of being baptized first. Questions for you as you study ... -Are believers part of the body of believers the moment they are saved? -Are believers part of the body of Christ the moment they are saved? -Are believers by the Spirit the moment they are saved? ... if we cannot answer yes toeach one, are new believers second class until they do something or reach a certain understanding? No one has ever given me a solid Biblical answer to wait for external baptism. No one has an answer about the book of Acts, where six of the seven conversion experiences the believers were baptized the same day believed, ... and why we we wait. The exception was Paul. Greetings Searcher! I don't believe there is a Biblical reason to wait for baptism. As you aptly demonstrated, most salvation experiences were almost immediately followed by baptism. There really doesn't seem to be any time requirement either way, but the sooner seems to be the better. :-) I remember praying with a young man once, who wanted to be baptized that night. The only problem was that we had to break the ice off of the swimming pool in order to baptism him. :-) It was cold. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
