How would you feel if you woke up one day and found to your horror that all of the Bible's in the world had instead of the word Jesus, the words, the Lord? This is what happened when the Masorete Jewish Scholars vowel pointed the Hebrew text in the 4th century A.D. They vowel pointed the some 6388 instances of YHWH in the Old Testament alone, of the tetragrammaton or 4 letter Name of our Heavenly Father with the vowel points of Adonai which in Hebrew means Lord. Then they ordered all Rabbi's to pronounce Adonai instead of Yahweh which they still do to this day. This Name is not the Americanized jehovah but rather Yahweh which is how YHWH should sound when properly vowel pointed. Now this of course was not unnoticed by Our Heavenly Father, oh no nothing ever is. In fact He prophesied it would happen in Jeremiah 23:25-27 and if you are wondering as i did where they changed His Name to Baal, look up the word Baal in the dictionary and you will see that the first word for it is Lord, which is what they changed His Name to. They had to come up with something more than the verse they presented to the people of Leviticus 24;16 which only gave the penalty for blaspheming God's Name, and so they said they dreamed dreams. But can you not sense the anger of Yahweh in Jeremiah 23:25-27? He did not want this to happen, but allowed it to happen to fulfill His hidden secrets and mysteries of which i will talk about more when i post more about all of this. |

a humble messenger: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! I might be wrong, but do you belong to the "Yahweh Assembly" group or denomination? I have read their material, and what you say is what the materials say that have read. Have you read the introduction to the NASB? There is a very good explimation as to why the name of Yahweh was not used by the Lockman Foundation translators. I personally would have no issue if the NASB or the NIV or for that matter the NKJV used the word Yahweh. As Long as using that name was not a dogmatic as a demand for salvation or required for worship. Having dealt with this issue before, the big problem for me is the "Yahweh Assembly" has become so legalistic and dogmatic, there can be no dialogue in a kind respectfully way. I have not found a single requirement for salvation in the New Testament, that we must use the name of Yahweh to be saved. However the Yahweh materials I have read seemed to require using the name Yahweh to be a believer. I do not want to make you feel disrespeced or that I am being unkind, but is this how you understand salvation, and using the name of Yahweh? I am not wanting to debate you on using the name Yahweh. I just would like to know if that is your bellief. Thank you for your response. justme |
