Ahh now that is an interesting thing to discuss. Incest in the bible. I have always been under the impression that incest (as long as it was in the some confines as any other relationship, I.E marriage) was fine until God deemed it unnecassary. After that point you see that it then incurred punishments, and became a sin. Any insights??? CoG88 God bless!! :) |

Homosexuality and Incest, read all about it in Genesis 19. Sin by any name is still sin. The farther we move from creation the less marriage between siblings was necessary. Actually, while it makes sense for Cain to marry one of his sisters, we don’t know where Cain’s wife came from; while I doubt it God could have created her. God knows more about sin than we know about sin; He has watched sin since creation. As much as God hates sin, he put the sin of the world on himself at the cross. Let’s praise God for his creation and cross work. "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him...Sin is what we do when we are not satisfied with God." Copied |

I feel I must rephrase my self, I didnt mean to imply that God thought that incest as we know it today was ok. At that time if we take the bible literally, then the only people around at this time would be the offspring of Adam and Eve. Therefore any procreation would have been done amongst family members. In fact there are some molecular biologists, who theorize, based on apparent degridation of our dna, that there may have been a point in the history of our existance that incest wouldnt have produced the defects we witness today. I realize that this is a biblical forum, I just figured that this tid-bit might interest some folks. Once God declared that no intermarrying was to occur it became a sinful act. Am I correct in that assesment?? I enjoyed that quote btw, CoG88 God bless!! |
