Why are there so many versions of the Bible. When I was a child everyone had the same bible. Today you can't read along with ministers in many occasions because you may not have the particular version he is using. I visit a lot of different denominal and non denominal churches with our gospel singing group and I find it frustrating not to be able to read along. Someone that didn't know anything about the bible and not been to church much may not know what to believe. Whatever happened to Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever. Or not adding to or taking away from the word of God. Is this not what man is doing when they change things around so much?

Hi Md1234, you have my curiosity up. Are you of the opinion that if the King James Version was good enough for the Apostle Paul, it should be good enough for us? Or are you telling us that you are actually capable of reading and understanding the Hebrew and Koine Greek of the original languages? Have a great day, CDBJ |

I do not read other languages however all of the current versions in the same English language can be confusing if everyone is not on the same page at the same time. Since there are several people in the same congregation it would seem appropriate for everyone to be reading the same thing. If I were in another country I would be expected to understand their language. If in a congregation I would like to understand what whas being read. The versions vary so much that in some instances this could be very confusing.

So do you suggest posting ushers at the doors to check for versions that are not uniform for the congregation? I think that you’ll find that it would get way too sticky a situation to try and uniform the version for a church. Do YOU have a suggestion on how to solve the issue? Ocelot |

Uniformly use the first Bible printed in our language. At least everyone would be reading the same thing. Why was this changed anyway?

Language itself has changed. If you could see the ORIGINAL King James Version, you’d have a VERY hard time reading it. As to why it was changed, I guess some people got together and said “Hey. This King James Version is hard for a lot of people to understand. Let’s make it easier.” Ocelot |
