1 | Jesus , the Messiah - Yeshua ha Mashiach | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 186398 | ||
Hi all Here's something I've wondered about. Let one of you kind folks wonder on it now. We are told in Gen. and throughout the rest of the Word that God will bless those that bless Israel, and in the NT we're told to pray for Israel, that nations will be judged according to how they have treated the apple of God's eye. Jesus was pure Jewish, and a Rabbi. Shouldn't we, in the very least, refer to our Lord by His given Jewish name, Yeshua? (Another question) - Was He not originally referred to as Yeshua when the gospels and letters were first written? If He wasn't I'd like to know why. This just seems to be a matter of respect. Why was it ever chenged to the Americanized name Jesus? in Love Cheri |

Hi Cheri, Jesus is a transliteration of Yeshua. There is no disrespect calling Him Jesus, but there is nothing wrong with calling Him Yeshua ether. Really not a big deal. God bless. John |

Hi John, Thank you. I had translation and transliteration explained to me earlier, so I understand your answer. I guess, in a way, I was kinda asking persmission to use His name Yeshua here, not wanting to cause discension. I'm not Jewish by birth, only by adoption, spiritually, and in my heart. Blessings Cheri |
