1 | Are we supposed to observe the Sabbath? | Bible general Archive 2 | khuck | 103416 | ||
I hold to the fact that because the resurrection as well as the pentecost was on a sunday IS WHY WE AT MY CHURCH ATTEND ON THAT DAY. IF you think that is wrong that is your opinion and I ain't mad at ya. But that is what and why we do it.(Pentecost is the only festival for which no specific date is given in the Bible. Rather, the people were instructed to count seven weeks “...from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf [omer] of the wave offering (Lev. 23:15). Pentecost was CELEBRATED ON SUNDAY CHECK LEV. Go and worship in a church with others who are worshipping Christ that Sunday (if you don't have a church, pick one and go). If you regularly go to church, invite someone to go with you for Pentecost Sunday. The Spirit birthed the fellowship of Jesus' followers (the church) that first Pentecost, so to try to worship Christ by yourself is even more of a rejection of the Spirit on Pentecost than it usually is. -Robert Longman Jr. Compare these First Pentecost (The Commandments Given) Pentecost After Christ (The Holy Spirit Given) First Pentecost -Fifty days from the crossing of the Red Sea Pentecost After Christ -Fifty days from the resurrection of Christ First Pentecost -Law of Yahweh written in Stone Pentecost After Christ -Law of Yahweh written on our hearts First Pentecost -Three thousand slain Pentecost After Christ Three -thousand receive salvation First Pentecost -The letter of the Law Pentecost After Christ -The Spirit of the Law This is the end of my research for your sake... I am indeed a Christian and take no offense at your statement about the possibility of my responses making me or them against Christ. LOL and yes that is funny. These are the things that let me know I must be serving him. But I have not the time or inclination to debate you. As I said before... if you have otherwise... do as I do... post your reasons. But please get off my back... unlike many here I am not looking for a war of words, nor am I here to prove that I am the smartest LOL. I readily admit that I am not the sharpest pencil in the can. BUT I KNOW THAT I LOVE THE LORD WITH EVERYTHING THAT IS IN ME. And all of the research and learned knowledge in the world will never EVER change that. I only seek that He be glorified, I seek no glory. His grace is sufficient for me, khuck |

I am not concerned about the day of "worship" which should be holy ... not a holiday ... I am concerned that you said something that is wrong. Wayne Jackson said that the context proves his point ... and didn't defend the it is in the passive voice and that it meant it was by God (divine). It is against Christ when you say something about the Bible is not so ... that Acts 20:7 is in the passive voice and that it meant it was by God (divine). |

Examine yourself Searcher, when you call me an anti-christ because I refuse to interpret something as you do. I confess Christ as my Lord and Savior, I preach Christ to inner city teens and young adults as a Youth Minister at Ambassadors for Christ Christian Church, and I am also a founding member and the web designer for Northbound Community Church in Thousand Oaks, CA (see our beliefs and mission at northboundcc.org) In light of these facts if you will say that I am against Christ or anti Christ... then in light of the following verse are you also against Him? Whoever Is Not Against Us Is for Us Mark 9:38 "Teacher," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us." "Do not stop him," Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward. -khuck |

Kathy ... First, I am not debating the day of worship - it is a minor issue. Second, while it is great that are a Christian and do many things for Him. However, when you quoted/said "Moreover, the passive voice (see above) indicates that the assemblage was orchestrated by someone other than the disciples; it was of divine initiative" ... I proved that was not true. -I showed than man's action is in the passive voice. -I believe Satan's action is in the passive voice. -As well as God's action also can be in the active or middle voice. I contrast Mark 9:38-41 with Matthew 7:21-23 and chapter 25. What people say and do could be a mask. I take care when I post something that I heard, to make sure it lines up with Scripture. When I read or hear something that does not line up with Scripture - I must challange the person. It was a problem in Galatia (Gal 1:6-9) ... but not Berea (Act 17:11). I believe the statement you posted is another gospel, because it is saying that is not true. I don't know Greek well ... but I use several sources. So I am sure what I say is true. Note ... Jackson blew me off, too. He diverted my question to looking at the context. Finally, my intention was not to offend you ... it was to correct your thinking. Searcher |

Searcher... I stand by my post. And I disagree with you. I have no desire to correct your thinking and I wonder how can you possibly undertake correcting mine? That is a rather arrogant statement. My original intention was to explain why, "I, me, Kathy Huck), choose to worship on Sunday. I used commentary and articles that substantiate my behavior. I will not say that any of these are the final authority, nor will I say that you are. I never mentioned passive active or medium voices. And I have made it clear and now I ask you with every bit of humility within me, let His Peace abide with us. I truly tire of this and I hope you will not think me to be rude if I not respond to anymore comments from you to me regarding this subject. God Bless you, -khuck |
