What get me is this is our NEW pastor that everyone is so crazy about. We've been having problems w/pastors. Our church had a wonderful pastor for 25 yrs, then he quit to be like a minister to pastors and we were w/o a pastor and had interin for 3.5 yrs. Then we got our next one which I thought was great too, I really liked him also, got his tapes to relisten to sermons even, he left after 2 yrs to be closer to his aging parents. We were w/o pastor for another year, had good interim, then got this one and everybody seems to be bowing down to him. I just never got enthusied and it doesn't look like I will either...esp. after this. He was good before this but I just didn't connect w/him. I don't know, I stuck w/the church thru everything and we got along fine thruout all those years of interims but some people just have to have the real pastor I guess. Attendance is up, more people getting involved so I guess that's good, but still you wonder, are they fair-weather Christians since they didn't hang in thru the interim. |

Greetings Norrie! May I make an observation that may not go over well? :-) I sense a disturbing tone in your comments about your pastor. Look at how you refer to him in your post. "...this is our NEW pastor that everyone is so crazy about." "..., then got this one and everybody seems to be bowing down to him." "...we got along fine thruout all those years of interims but..." I have been a pastor for about 10 years now. I can tell you from first hand experience that nothing I do can or will please everybody. Everyone has a different taste in music. Everyone has a different concept of how long a service or a sermon should be. Everyone prefers a different style of preaching. The list goes on and on and on! :-) But, God calls a pastor to a particular church at a particular time for a particular reason. And we, as members of that church, are called to submit to his leadership and teaching. It sounds like, to me, that you have individuals and groups within your church who are trying to use these differences of opinion to split your congregation. I would encourage you to pray for, support, and love your pastor - even if you don't always understand or agree with what he is doing. (Note: I'm not talking about false doctrine or moral failure here! :-)) Otherwise, Satan will sow seeds of discontent, which rather than building up the body of Christ will tear it down. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

NEW means just that, he's new. Seeing as how after Fred left, we haven't had much luck w/pastors, esp. after I got attached to Allan and he left, maybe I just don't want to get attached in case he leaves maybe, who knows. I just didn't go "oh yes" when they first presented him. I've been listening to him and he is good, just not good enough to say brag on him to my husband and try to get him to come hear him in hopes of him getting saved. Then he started this and I know for sure this would not get my husband interested enough to come to maybe get saved either even tho there are people going up at invitation. I'm just waiting to see what's going to happen I guess. I'm not going anywhere really unless he started preaching heresy. But I don't like this jumping around w/all the different versions and this book thing... | ||||||
