Dear Ed, It seems as if Figgy dis-agrees with your characterization of me. Of course her perspective may be prejudiced by her love for her cold, old father. :-) John |

Dear Ed, I appreciate your reply. If I strike you as unemotional, it is because I have been praying for God's gift of self-control. It is not easy for me to read some of the things that have been said about what I believe and in the past I have re-acted emotionally. The forum has been a wonderfull experience for me. I have had a chance to share my view of Scripture with christians from a wide range of traditions. In truth, I have learned a great deal from many who hold different views as well. I have also learned a few things about myself. One of those things was that I have in the past been far more interested in what my response would be, rather than the content of the question or note I was responding to. It was my own frustration with posts from others who did not bother to REALLY read what I had written that opened my own eyes!..."Take the log out of your own eye..." came to mind. The fact is that I am a very emotional guy. I cry when we sing "Rock of Ages" at church! I identify so much with the words of the old hymn: Not the labor of my hands Can fulfill Thy law’s demands; Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and Thou alone. Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to the cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress; Helpless look to Thee for grace; Foul, I to the fountain fly; Wash me, Savior, or I die. Thanks Again, John |

John Emotions has very little to do with it. I think you know what I'm talking about in your relationship with Christ. Let us not pursue this any further. I think what I say was valid if not then fantastic, but let us not debate this on a public forum. EdB |
